  1. Sounds normal to me, OEM Nissan BOVs open as soon as you're below atmospheric and there's ever so slightly pressure being generated by the turbos. You'll probably get the turbo shuffle too from the two turbos pushing towards a single hot pipe too.
  2. FWIW, using the Benshit code DB1520, this pad is shared with R32~R34 GT-R Brembo & 350Z. Same goes for Project Mu, Elig, Intima, etc. I am running the same Intima RR pads from a R32~R34 Brembo caliper on my 350Z Brembo setup.
  3. If you want a equivalent turbo to make about the same power and response as your current one and to dose well you'll need to go something old school with a 6+6 blade (as you've mentioned). I'm thinking a TD06-25G, no idea how good these turbos are but in Precision speak it's like a 6058 (which doesn't exist, they do a 5858). A few random videos I found: As you have a 2.8L already, would a Precision 6266 OR a Turbosmart 6262 tickle your fancies? I would lean towards the Precision 6266 as it's offered in T4 divided so you can retain twin scroll for that low down & smooth power delivery.
  4. Opportunity to convert to R35/370Z coils, those coils are more trouble than anything else. OEM (including R35/370Z) or Splitfire are the only sensible options. In the past when I was a broke lad in my 20s, I bought brand new colourful (won't mention the colour, but it's similar to my skin) looking coil packs and 2x actually came DOA! Ended up buying used Splitfires and instantly fixed my misfire issue.
  5. Since @klutched asked for an update on the shit box, I thought I'll also share it here. Yeah, it's still a shelving unit lol. Anyone with keen eyes would have noticed the Kinchrome coolant pressure tester sitting on the roof.
  6. Replace the Gates belt with an OEM belt, no more noise. Or just suck it up and wait for the Gates belt to soften up a bit.
  7. it's a firmware upgrade to the Nistune board, I have the firmware writer you can borrow if you want (since you're in Sydney). Downloads are here: https://www.nistune.com/support/software-downloads Optionally you can just send back the board to Matt at Nistune and he can do it for you: https://www.nistune.com/nistune-shop/feature-pack-firmware-upgrade-detail
  8. If you're ok with wiring (or just buy the pre-made harness elsewhere) you could avoid the PRP tax and get one by EFI Solutions https://www.efisolutions.com.au/coil-conversion-kit-rb-to-r35-gtr
  9. Shitbox update so VW Liverpool has gotten back to me on Thursday saying the gearbox control unit is on its way, should arrive at their service centre by early next week. They said VW Australia is only covering the parts and loan car and not the labour. I asked them to send me the quote so I can lodge a formal complaint with the crooks in head office. Anyhow I wrote somewhat a firm complaint, added piles of screen shots where others have had their repairs done and had the entire cost covered (this is done case by case, some Tiguan owners also had to pay for the labour some didn't)I even quoted the below from their website too. The irony is, some had their labour costs waived, even though their Tiguans didn't even have a full dealer service record, where mine does. If they don't budge with their decision on the labour cost, I'll take it up with NSW Fair Trading, noting the battle isn't with the dealer it's with VW Australia. This will be my first and last VW I suspect. Will move onto another shit box brand next and then have @Duncan say "I told you so, should have bought a Nissan".
  10. Gets given to who can line who's pocket the best and what would stimulate the economy the most to generate tax revenue. So gambling, alcohol.
  11. Has been years since I've played with it, however FP2 gives you some fun options
  12. You could use the Nistune to control boost, and control boost vs. ethanol content if you go down that path. And if you wanted dual stage, just hook up a switch to kill the power to the MAC valve, you'll have gate pressure vs. whatever you've dialled in.
  13. What a major headfk! I was looking into a Speedtek gearset, after reading your experiences & you pointing out PRP removed them from their website, it's pretty evident to avoid them with the longest pole possible.
  14. The fastest weekender/track/semi-daily cars at Sydney Motorsport Park are all auto 😀 Meanwhile all the manual guys are too busy doing complex mathematical calculations and deciding on which gear to grab to do fast laps lol
  15. Yep, there's a drop down and also pipe size to select. However... It never works perfectly as everyone installs the card differently, different pre length of pipe, different pod filters etc. all have a massive affect on it. Is your car manual or auto? If it's a manual, maybe look at a better ECU. If it's an auto, well you don't have many choices that don't involve big money. I used to do heaps of Nistune tuning back in the day, and always really hated the Nistune for NEO ECUs. Just a pain in the anus to get right, never drove right, etc. always bogged on rapid throttle transitions, where as the RB20DET modified for the RB25DET drove like a factory car.
  16. Bellmouth is better, IWG flapper on highflows, non-OEM CHRA will hit the divider and you'll have other problems to deal with.
  17. I reckon the car was run in 3rd gear not 4th on the dyno.
  18. Spends money on loom, then finds out OEM ignitor is cactus, spends money on that, then finds OEM coils are cooked. Then goes, ok, time to upgrade to a R35/370Z coil setup. Now left with a barely used new loom, and a barely used new ignitor. Can't sell the latter two for anything to recoup costs. TLDR, just get a R35/370Z coil kit.
  19. SP Mufflers, formally know as SMB
  20. they probably pay in bum bags full of cash
  21. Actually most owners have gotten better fuel economy than what is advertised at 7.4L/100km. @No Crust Racing's missus has one and has seen under 7.0L/100km They might be testing it at a higher cruise speed? no idea. I don't mind it actually, a few things I dislike: fuel economy sucks, fk me terrible overtaking capabilities, no power (Tiguan over takes with ease) However great & zippy around town No door auto locking, seems not available for AU market (odd) Rear seat middle arm rest/drink holder actually is the back rest When you move that down, you expose the cargo area Passenger mirror doesn't auto dip when Reverse is engaged Audio doesn't lower when Reverse is engaged (good for me, I can't concentrate with music when parking) Door unlocking strategy is weird, European cars nail this
