  1. Sir Jack Brabham, Australian motorsport icon, died this morning. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-05-19/sir-jack-brabham-3-time-formula-one-world-drivers-champion-dies/5461332 Brabham was a 3 time F1 world champion, and remains the only driver to win the world championship in a car of his own design.
  2. Does FAST tell anything about key code (door / ignition)? And does it work for Pathfinder?
  3. You've moved the CAS - that has upset ALL its ignition timing. Get a timing light on it. And problems above 2500 rpm is indicative of problematic AFMs.
  4. How old is the battery? Haver you checked the tension on the alternator belt? (R32 is notorious for not liking bad voltages).
  5. The mechanism that links the motor to the wiper arms may have fallen off the motor.
  6. It's all here: http://www.tmr.qld.gov.au/registration/registering-vehicles/the-special-interest-vehicle-concession.aspx (all you had to do is Google "queensland club rego") Unfortunately for you, Qld has a 30 year rule. Victoria is still 25 years, but may change soon. (would have been better asking this in the Qld section)
  7. The trailer probably weighs in at around 1.5T fully laden. It has brakes. I don't want another Falcon - they just don't like carrying that much weight on the bum end. Which is why I got the Pathfinder. Unfortunately, I don't have insurance on the vehicle - I'm relying on the other party's insurance, and they are unlikely to come to the party quickly in relation to renting a temporary replacement vehicle.
  8. Last night, some idiot managed to rear end my work trailer parked in front of my house. The impact caused the car / trailer assembly to jack-knife slightly. The car (Nissan Pathfinder) is likely an "economic write-off". All the door clearances are RS, the Hayman Reese hitch assembly pushed up the rear floor, the tailgate won't open. I need a car to tow my work trailer full of lawn mowing equipment until the idiot's insurance can settle the matter. Any help in this regard greatly appreciated. Either a "loaner" or a purchase of a similar vehicle - I'm not too fussed right now. (purchase budget around $5k) (as an indication of the size of the impact, my old XF Falcon was parked in front of the Pathfinder - it was moved forward a metre!)
  9. That's where I got the HNR number. It's also stamped into the firewall. So it should be the correct one. Anyway, Aug 89 sounds good. I'm going to have to put it on club reg - just can't afford increased rego fees just announced fir Vic.
  10. That's the VIN off the rego label. Where is it stamped on the chassis?
  11. You really need to bleed the master first. Also, try bleeding the RH caliper, see if helps.
  12. Sorry HNR32-000312 (missed a 0)
  13. Running that rich has possibly fouled the plugs. Try replacing the temp sensor - ECU might be thinking the engine is always cold. Clean air filter. Replace fuel filter.
  14. Really just after the build date for my 32 GTS4. HNR32-00312, KRNR32RGFSLMAB, 6T91MPV97X1ESG001 Tx
  15. You mean it turns over (starter motor works) but won't start? The injectors may have gummed up and aren't opening. Get them cleaned. Check for fuel (fuel pump, fuel filter), spark and compression. Might need a few more than 5 litres of fuel in the tank too!
  16. Was there any particular reason the car was sitting outside for 4 months? There's one part of the picture that hasn't been covered - do you have compression? (And I mean checked with a compression gun) For the CAS, is the half-moon key still in the end of the exhaust cam? If it's gone, then if the CAS isn't installed in the right orientation, there is very little chance of the engine starting.
  17. How did you confirm the injectors were working? Did you take them out? If so, what did the spray pattern look like? Maybe they are dirty and leaking, thus flooding the engine. Maybe try starting with WOT. But in the long run you may need to remove and clean the injectors.
  18. Yes, it means low fluid level in the brake master. (which you may well have discovered by searching)
  19. What do you mean "under load"? The engine isn't really "under load" at idle. You don't get a "knock" code if you have knock, you get a "knock" code if there is a problem with the knock sensors or circuitry.
  20. The Nissan dealer should be able to find it. Just ask for the "speedo drive unit" (might be "assembly").
  21. Matt, if the key is broken, the CAS can go back in any position, but there is only one position where the engine will even start. Idle is basically controlled with fuel. Variations in timing at idle are likely caused by the map being moved to a different load/rpm cell. Timing doesn't vary by more than 1 degree at idle, in my experience. Callan, WTF? You don't need bolts shoved up coil packs. You peel back the small rubber cap on the "dizzy" end of the plug lead (maybe even cut it off) and the lead becomes the spark plug for the coil. The other end of the lead slips onto the spark plug (as it would in a "dizzied" application). Then connect the timing light to the spark plug lead (note the pickup is directional).
  22. Why don't you just crank up the fuel pressure? A new adjustable FPR is probably a lot cheaper than a set of big injectors. And either way you are going to need another dyno tune.
  23. No trial and error about it. A few measurements - clutch height, throw-out bearing offset, and a couple of others - and you should be able to tell whether it all fits together correctly.
  24. I'm having a similar probem, possibly due to the bottom "ring" of the battery terminal has cracked and not making good contact onto the battery post. Called into my local Nissan dealer to suss out a new setup. Sit down everyone - $200 WTF????? So I'm going to see if I can get someone to weld it shut.
