  1. check the plug on the back of the hazard switch is plugged in correctly. if the dash surround has been out in the past it might not have been plugged back in properly and i know that in some cars if that plug is undone the indicators won't work at all.
  2. just as bad in an auto as in a manual. possibly even worse. if you don't have park engaged properly and forget to put the handbrake on and then you slam the door the thud can drop it into reverse
  3. yeah pods are legal in QLD as long as they are secured with a bracket. and yes, pods can be fitted to any car.... well actually to and engine. you could put one on a lawn mower if you really wanted to. pretty much no cars come with them fitted as standard though. as for a cop being able to tell, if they know a bit about cars they won't have any trouble spotting the turbo hanging off the exhaust manifold, whether you have the stock airbox or not.
  4. as said above, most likely the coils. probably the single most common problem skylines suffer from
  5. i have a cheap repco battery in my v8 commodore. it gets started every 2 or 3 months (when i need to move it to mow the lawn or get my boat out of the back yard (so it only runs for about a minute each time). i have to charge it about every 6 months or so. would probably last longer if it wasn't an old carby 253 which takes about 30 seconds or so of turning over before it starts. a decent battery should last about 2 months easily without the car being started (depending on whether it has an alarm draining power, etc)
  6. That American championship race at indy is a bloody easy way to make money. I just used my vette eace car, won by about 15 seconds and got 117k for 5 laps of racing
  7. I won the amuse carbon gtr from the all stars race. I got the minolta from the like the wind races which i won in my Corvette race car
  8. I am just using my old pc. only has 2 channel stereo sound but my amp takes care of that.
  9. yeah it is forsale in the online caryard, but i'm about a million short at the moment. if you can win it then that would save me some money.....
  10. i'll have to work a time out with you some time
  11. you might want to do a bit more research in prices. some suburbs are still climbing slowly but generally speaking houses are over priced and we are starting to see a price correction. as i said, where i am prices have dropped 10% in the last 6 months. housing prices simply can't keep growing like the real estate agents say (they say the price doubles every 10 years), otherwise in probably 30 years time 1 weeks loan repayment will be a whole months wage (i'm not joking), since house prices are growing much faster than wages (add an extra 10 years onto that equation and it becomes 2 months wage = 1 weeks loan repayment). as it is the housing market is getting to a point where a great deal of people can no longer afford to buy, and the less people buying, the harder it is to sell and the more you have to drop the price to get a buyer (resulting in a drop in housing prices). but this isn't the thread to talk about this. pop over to the wasteland section, we have a very good thread in there about it.
  12. how often are you hard on the brakes (i'm talking 'on the limit' braking, not just somewhat hard braking) when drifting anyway? pretty much never, so it doesn't really matter whether you have ABS or not. there is no ABS on the handbrake
  13. i just discovered we have the cyantic skin there now so i'm giving it a bit of a try at the moment. i still don't like it as much as the old dark skin (and am undecided if i like it more than the standard skin). as the pig subject, it only affects me because i often say something runs like a pig or was a pig to drive
  14. in all seriousness, don't bother doing up the NA too much, especially if you plan on going turbo down the track. it really is a waste of money compared to selling it and buying a turbo one. just do mods that you can transfer. things like ECU are interchangable between natro and turbo (just by changing the tune), and things like suspension are probably interchangable as well so just keep the stock parts to put back on before you sell it.
  15. yeah check the spark plugs as well as the coils for signs of cracks, etc. if it does it when it is cool, etc as well then it could be that either the gap in the plugs is too big for the condition of the coils (weaker coils need a smaller gap) or that the coils are arking out or getting blown out as more dense air/fuel is harder to combust.
  16. there is a hell of a lot of bad advice given by parents about that though. plenty of people were pressured/rushed into the property market in the past 2 years who are going to find that if they had waited they could've got a house for much less. prices are on decline (dropped by about 10% in the past 6 months in my area), but that is a discussion for a different thread.
  17. i'd be suprised if there is anything ground breaking about the R36. i think it will just be the next evolution of the R35
  18. i have a wii and a ps3. for general stuffing around the wii is great fun. for a bit more action type games then the ps3 is better (even though i only have 2 games on it - FF13 and GT5). on the wii i have mario kart, super mario, sports and sports resort and the new donkey kong (think there may be 1 other one but i can't remember what it is). they are great for just sitting down and playing when bored. also the wii consoles and games are generally the cheapest of the lot.
  19. LOL I'm still waiting to get enough money to buy a car fast enough to win the like the wind daytona race (and waiting for my B-spec drivers to be high enough ranked to race it). my woodone GTR was fast enough to get me second place (thanks to a bit of push and shove and blocking).
  20. not sure specifically on the 34, but on most cars the barrel actually bolts into place. the object loose was probably the bolt. if there is any trim on the inside of the bootlid then you need to pull that off and have a look through the bracing to try and see the back of the barrel.
  21. exhaust leak won't matter with the misfire. if your coils are a little bit dodgy then just the extra humidity when it rains could be causing the misfire.
  22. i have heard plenty of horror stories from people getting bad batches of bio-diesel. mate of mine got a bad batch. had a buttload of water in it. while i don't agree with running 91 octane in a turbo vehicle, i do agree with you saying there must be something wrong with his car if he couldn't even run 95 in it. i'm guessing either the fuel pump was dying, injectors were blocked or something along those lines, or it had a remapped ecu. the stock ecu runs a pretty rich tune with not much timing. i know people who have gained 20kw just from a tune. i was able to safely add 3 degrees of timing into my 33 on 98RON fuel (via CAS) on the stock ecu. most stock ECU's run AFR's in the mid 10's up top. tuners are able to both lean them out and increase the timing a bit over stock, when running 98 fuels, so if yours is on the limit when stock then there is something going on.
  23. and are epically calm. i've done driver training courses, etc that teach you about brake modulation, etc, but i've had animals and people run out in front of me and i can tell you that all of that goes out the window. you instinctively stomp on the brake pedal as hard as you can, and the closer you get the harder you push the pedal, regardless of whether the wheels are locked up or not. the reasoning your brain isn't consulted in these circumstances. it's all well and good to say about braking distances of a good driver in a non ABS car to an average driver with ABS, but that is in a controlled environment when they know they are going to have to brake suddenly. in an emergency situation that comparison doesn't work. porsche carrera cup cars use a version of ABS. as for the ABS being overwhelmed, a lot of people do the wrong thing when braking with ABS once it has kicked in. you will get people who feel the feedback through the pedal so they start lifting off and reapplying the brakes or pumping the brakes. this is the totally wrong thing to do. you are actually better off just keeping your foot buried into the pedal and letting it sort itself out rather the confusing it by altering brake pressure. also i think you may find that some of the braking failures may have been caused by either boiled brake fluid or the brakes overheating and glazing up, and if you get warped rotors and add that to the mix with ABS then you are in for all sorts of dramas.
