  1. you can lower the steering height (it is height adjustable like most cars). personally from the skylines i've driven with sunroofs, i prefered the headroom in my one that didn't have a sunroof. also with sunroofs, there is the chance it if going to leak as some point in time. it's more a case of when, not if. all it takes is a slightly perishing seal and then it leaks.
  2. could be an injector problem as well
  3. the 040 goes in relatively easily. you simply need to remove the lower section of the bracket as the 04 is a longer pump. some people have left the lower section of the bracket and shortened the pipe above it, but this usually results in the pump not being able to pump fuel from anywhere below about 1/4 of a tank.
  4. as i said earlier shaun, just make sure you have at least 1gb of data on your plan because it will want you to do multiple gt5 updates and an OS update if you aren't on the latest one.
  5. depends. my mobile is pretty fast. i just did a speed test on my phone (via the speedtest.net app) and this is what i got. upload was about 1/3 of what it normally is as i had only just turned on the data and it wouldn've been sending info out to update motoblur
  6. baaaaaaaahahaha, extrememly well played tony
  7. just go out and buy the longest ethernet cable you can find and just run it between your modem and the ps3 if you are too lazy to move the ps3
  8. by the looks of it you can't download it to your pc first (i went looking to see if you could). also i don't think you can use a 3g wireless internet usb dongle with the ps3, however you can get those new 3g wireless modems that you connect to wirelessly (doesn't have to be plugged into a usb port), but that won't be of much help to you. the other, most simple option, is to get an ethernet cable and connect your ps3 to your computer and then use the internet connection wizard to share the connection. you will have to download system updates as well as the previous updates, so make sure you have at least 1gb of data available on your account. wouldn't want to get halfway through and have it cut out, or to have to pay for penalty rates for extra download data see here for how to do it http://www.wirelessinternetaccess.com.au/2009/04/how-to-share-your-3g-mobile-broadband-internet-with-your-ps3-or-xbox-360/
  9. bahahaha, that thread is now on page one of google when you search "powerchip"
  10. i had to put a short shifter into a mates 33 years ago. think we had a similar issue. i just played around with things and made sure that everything was sitting in place properly and it was fine. just try putting things in different orders until it works. oh and i think i had to use something extra from the stock shifter than the instructions said you didn't need to, but i can't exactly remember.
  11. as long as it will actually fit in then there is no problem. i'm not sure on whether there is a physical difference in them though. the cooler opening temp may play around a little bit with the ecu though (very minor difference) so you may see a slight increase in fuel economy (if you do it will be barely noticable).
  12. sometimes the squeak can simply be the pump vibrating on the bracket as it primes, which is nothing to worry about, however if the squeak is coming from inside the pump then it is a little bit more of a concern. only way to tell which it is is to pull it out (which is a bit of a pain). i'd say taking it to get some power runs on a dyno would be the easiest option.
  13. if you are using the S1 loom then make sure you are using the s1 coils. do the usual tests such as making sure the spark plugs are actually sparking, make sure the injectors are actually firing, check the compression of the engine, make sure the fuel pump is actually pumping.
  14. pretty sure it was the r34 gtr M-spec, but others may have had it too.
  15. people have modded the thermo fan to kick in with the aircon by using a resistor. my car never had that fan (had had front end damage) and i bought an aftermarket one and simply wired it to be triggered to come on when the AC compressor kicked in. a mate of mine who tried the resistor method and had a slight problem with that method is going to try it the way i had it and see if he can get it to work as well as having it still work as an over temp fan as well.
  16. yeah i did some looking around and it doesn't look like i can. that's a bit of a pain but oh well. wonder how many times it will come up with errors while downloading this one. usually takes me about 3 attempts to download a normal update. thankfully thought it only takes a few mins to download a 130mb update, so this one should take less than 10 mins. i'll just have it start while i do the mowing when i get home today.
  17. I bought a black one the other day, LOL. i'm currently waiting for a le mans car. and i'm glad i've got adsl2 to download the update. can you download the update the without using the ps3? if you can i'd do it at work rather than at home (have adsl2 at home and work) and then just install it after work, since the wireless modem at home is a little bit dodgy.
  18. I'm wondering whether there may be updates down the track with extra events in it. Wouldn't suprise me if there were
  19. i've had a few races where there have been 2 AI opponents with the same last name but different initials. i've also seen a few famous last names with changed initials.
  20. if the fuel pump was dying it should run poorly as well as not starting properly. the only way to tell for sure if the pump is failing or not is to put it on a dyno. this way you can see what the AFR's are like at high rpm. if they are fine then the pump is fine. if it starts leaning out at high rpm then the fuel pump isn't able to supply enough fuel and needs to be replace. you should hear a noise when you first turn the key to ON, as that is the fuel pump priming. as for the noise it's making when you do that, it's hard to say whether it's something to be concerned out without hearing it. the starting issue can be caused by lots of things. i'll list a few: weak coil packs, weak ignitor pack (on earlier models), wrong gap on spark plugs, dirty injectors, low compression, fouled cold start valve (that's a pain to clean, but might be worth checking out), faulty AFM, incorrectly adjusted TPS. that is all i can think of to right now.
  21. yeah just keep an eye on it. when it is the thermostat you can often tell because the car takes a while to come up to temp (should be up to temp on the dash gauge in a few mins of driving, bit longer to get to 82 degrees though). if after 10 mins the car isn't fully up to temp that the thermostat is stuffed. but skylines are old cars now, so it is common for crap to have built up in the radiator, making them work much less effeciently. there are people on here who have replaced the radiator and then had the temp never move off 82 or 83 degrees, so i'd say that yours is probably heading towards needing the cooling system checked out. just keep an eye on it over summer. the final thing that can make temps a bit irregular is the water pump. as they get old they can get a bit worn and not pump that well. this generally results in higher temps all the time though.
  22. and from what i see of that pic, what it says is "GT5 have missed out the tiniest little detail on the zonda, but the actual graphics are a buttload better"
  23. i hate him cause he's a cockhead, not because of his sexual preference. i don't even know whether he is gay or just camp.
  24. as people have said, it can't be a set figure. not just because of how hard the gears are meshing together. you have to remember that the more power it has the faster it is going to accelerate. the faster something accelerates the higher the forces acting against it. so while it might not be exactly a percentage it won't be a fixed figure either. there might be an exact figure of how much power it takes to turn a gearbox, drive shaft, diff, wheels, etc at a set speed, but when it comes to accelerating all that then it won't be a set number that applies to all power levels.
  25. erm..... i do that sometimes...... lol oh and i saw another mildy amusing name. T. Mckinney. i just pretended that it was Todd Mckinney, that silly douche from dancing with the stars, and ran him off the road and into a wall at the first corner.
