+1 for autech

yeah fuel pumps can slowly die. they either get the sock a bit blocked or are worn inside and don't have the same maximum flow as they should. i've seen cars on the dyno where the fuel pump has been dying and the AFRs are fine until about 2/3 of the way through the rev range where they start to lean out and the further up the rev range you go the leaner it gets. put a new fuel pump in and it's all good again.

as matt said, more than likely tired coil packs. putting in plugs with a smaller gap is simply a band-aid fix to the problem and it will only get worse.

Is There Any Benefit To This Turbo Set Up?
mad082 replied to KezR33's topic in General Automotive Discussion
that is pretty much what i said above -
how many people do you actually think wanted the r34 gt-t or r33 gts-t? i'm guessing, not many. yes it would've been nice to have them, but i'd rather have things like lambos and ferraris' than a boring old skyline in the game. and as for GT6, i agree with eps, it won't take that long to come out. with GT5 they scrapped the physic engine used in GT5 prologue and started over. in gt6 they will just build on GT5 and add in stuff from there. i'd say maybe 2 years. it would all depend on whether a new console is in the pipeline and how far away that is.

Yes you can plug in a usb hard drive but there is 1 very big catch. it must be in fat32 format, and pretty much no hard drive or thumb drive bigger than 4gb is in fat32, they are all ntfs.

Standard and premium has to do with the interior modelling. standard is what your saw in gt5 prologue. premium is more detailed. Edit: damn beat me to it. and yeah, forgot about damage

And why get so upset about there not being a car in a game? it's hardly the end of the world.
-
The collectors edition comes with a few extra cars. the signature edition comes with more cars again plus a booklet, model and some other things as well. Pretty sure i have the editions in the right order. Anyone with a real version of the car wanting to know how much of a gain they will get from mods shouldn't use any of the gt games, or any game for that matter, as a guide to how much power they will gain. the power gains from mods in the game are not accurate. they may have used the stock specs but the aftermarket specs are not realistic.

i doubt there will be one in the first week even (other than the bonus one for people who are buying the collectors editions), although those ones may possibly be available to buy from day one.

Oil Leak From The Upper Intercooler Hot Pipe
mad082 replied to bbb10241347's topic in General Maintenance
does the car blow any smoke? if not then i'd say it's ok. even a perfectly fine turbo will leak a very small amount of oil as it starts to get a bit older. over time this builds up to a point where it may start to leak out. the best thing to do is to pull all the intercooler piping off and give it a clean out. then after a few weeks pull it back off and see how much oil is in there. if there is a decent amount of oil in there then you have a problem. if there is only the tiniest amount then don't bother about it. -
the idle screw is on the IAC valve at the back of the plenum. i know that you will read that bit about the IAC valve and just have a blank look on your face so i will tell you what and where it is, LOL. if you stand at the drivers side front wheel (with the bonnet open obviously, LOL) and look at the intake plenum, towards the back (closest to the firewall) you should see a few plugs and on the same bit a phillips head screw. that is the idle screw. to properly adjust the idle though you can't simply just wind that screw in and out as the ecu will try to counter what you are doing. to properly adjust the idle you need to have the car warm, turn it off, unplug the throttle position sensor (plug on the throttle body with wires coming out of it), start the car again, revi it over 3000rpm a few times in a few seconds (think it's 3 times in 5 seconds) and then you have the car locking into base idle mode. then set the idle to where you want it, turn the car off, plug back in the TPS and you are done.

and as far as the actual track goes, it is an extremely technical and tricky track, so even though people might not know the track, i think a lot of people would like racing on it. i'm glad the xr8 v8 supercar is still there. i really like racing it.

How Would You Build A Street Sleeper?
mad082 replied to R33_Dude's topic in General Automotive Discussion
mechanic mate of mine had a 1977 poo brown galant wagon. stock as the day it left the showroom. he was planing on putting the sr20 out of his sigma into it and leave it stock, including the roof racks, beaded seat cover, etc. this idea ended after he put the 15" wheels off the sigma one day at work. drove 2km home and pulled them straight off. said he'd nearly died about 10 times on the way home (and this was with the stock 1.6L or whatever they were and it was auto) and there was no way he would want to drive it with over 200hp. funny story though, my mate is 30, little bit scruffy (since he's a mechanic and always covered in grease) and he was in the main street once, and he was waiting for a car to reverse out so he could take the park (he was coming to see me on his lunch break), and some bogan pulled up behind him, beeps the horn and yells "hurry up ya old fart". my mate took off his seatbelt, opens the door and steps out. the guy behind him straight away says "oh... sorry mate". he found it hilarious. -
set of sticky tyres and it would be. bet you can nearly buy all 4 standard tyres for the mustang for the price of 1 tyre for the GTR. this is why there is little point going off times of stock cars run by either car companies or even car mags. unless they fit the same tyres to both cars, it isn't really a true indication of the cars performance.

Whats The New Color For Technology?
mad082 replied to ClutchBurndout-:('s topic in PC & Games Discussion
maybe he is refering to a penis transplant he got. they put a black one on, LOL -
i'd have it inside my house though, and i'd have the passenger side done too.
-
i should point out, i was more talking about running the stock ecu, since it runs much richer than a tuned ecu, so more prone to fouling.
-
you are pretty much sitting on the floor. i'd rather have it at seat height. i don't have the money or space for a sim anyway, so i'll just be sticking with the controller. never bothered me in the past. i might get one eventually (when i'm in a house with more space), but that won't be for a while yet. i'd really like to get a car and mount one in the car so the steering wheel, etc is all in the exact location it would be in real life.

no different to driving in the rain really.

what mods do you have? unless you have an aftermarket turbo then the 7 plugs will be too cold, and while they may be fine now, you may find that in a few weeks if you sit in traffic a bit it will start to run a bit rough as the plugs start to foul up a bit. for standard turbo applications heat range 6 plugs are the way to go. even small aftermarket turbo applications where the car is mostly used as a daily heat range 6 is the way to go. as for the stalling issue, it may be related to the IAC and AAC valve. this often causes a stalling issue. also if you have an atmo bov then it will also be making this issue worse.

too much of a pain to get in and out of though. if i was going to do it i''d leave 1 side off so you can slip into it easier, or make it have a scissor door, lol

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahaha, that's one of the natro's with the GTR badge that i have mentioned a few times on here. from what i have seen of the car the owner tends to drive it pretty sensibly, but i have only seen it a few times on the road. if you wanted to know what it's like before driving to gympie, i could go and check it out for you if you like. i won't have time this weekend to do it though. driving to gympie isn't exactly a long drive though. i drive down to brissy and back all the time in a single day. hell i've had to do trips down just to drop mum at the hospital, so i've gone down and back without hopping out of the car. i've bought a few of my cars from brissy and done a trip down and back to look at them.

at idle (and anytime when the plenum is seeing a vaccum rather than positive boost) the pcv will be open and the engine will be sucking air out of the rocker covers (that is why squeezing the hose stops the sound). once positive pressure builds up it closes the valve.

Fpv Tornado Or Holden Ss-v Redline Utes
mad082 replied to macdog's topic in General Automotive Discussion
you beat me to it. not everyone buys a ute to pose around in. a lot of people buy them to, oh i don't know, carry stuff around it that you can't fit in a sedan or wagon, and it saves having to tow a trailer. the soft covers are much easier to get into to simply put 1 item in, or take the whole way off if you need to fit something bigger in. you can do it by yourself and don't have to worry about putting a big scratch down the side of the car if you slip while trying to get it off.
