  1. the factory aerial is in the front windscreen. if your car has the factory windscreen then you will notice a very thin line down the centre of it. if not, then you don't have a factory windscreen
  2. i'm guessing it is slightly limited (probably an inital run but no repeated production runs), but not like 'only a few thousand in the world' type of limited. that said, if i start hearing that places are selling out and they are selling in ebay for more than what they retail for, and i happen to go past a shop with one in-store, i will buy it and stick it straight on ebay. one of the joys of living in a smaller town. may may get smaller quantities of stuff, but they also sell out slower.
  3. you'd have to move your head while keeping your eyes looking at the tv
  4. the cat back section will fit, but a 3" exhaust on a NA is going to be LOUD!!!! and will reduce low down power. as shorty said above, just go to your local exhaust place and get something made up.
  5. if you were worried about it you could always just cut the coil cover in half and just put the front half on and just use 2 bolts to hold it there.
  6. YES you can remove the turbo from a turbo car. YES it will also make about as much horsepower as a hyundai excel. NO i am not joking about that. YES if your father is a mechanic he should've known that turbo engines run lower compression so without the turbo they will have much less power than one that didn't have a turbo from factory YES you will still get pulled over and booked for driving a turbo vehicle because the car is still registered as a turbo, and if not they can book you for having engine modifications, since you have infact modified the engine by removing the turbo and finally, YES buying a turbo car and removing the turbo is a major waste of time and money compared to just buying a non turbo one in the first place
  7. power wise the rb25 will put out more power, but the s14 is lighter, so with less power will be faster. you really need to take a r33 for a drive and see what you think. that will tell you whether you will like it or not much more than going off what people on here have told you.
  8. gotta remember that they are running on E85 so they had to pit much more often than previously as well.
  9. knock sensor simply may have become unplugged, or it may need replacing. as for the a/t one, the car you got the ecu from may have had a manual box in it but it may have been an auto originally. without a vin number to put through FAST you won't really know for sure.
  10. i know that the r33 uses the method you described, not sure about the 32. should also note that the engine has to be warm. as to how you know when it's in base idle mode, well i don't think you can really know for sure, except that adjusting the idle screw should make a bt more of a difference than normal.
  11. yeah a tune won't fix what is making the car run poorly. it will simply mask the problem. if the car is running rough then it means there is a mechanical/electrical issue causing it to run rough and you need to sort that out before getting it tuned.
  12. if you watch professional racers, they might not turn their head much, but if you watch their eyes they move a lot. goind round a left hand corner the centre of their vision will be the left hand side of the windscreen i just can't use the cockpit view. the steering wheel movement puts me off. i use the front bar view and my times are between 200 and 800 on the online ranking
  13. only till 12 on saturdays, so just do them on the way up, LOL. the main street (where the shop is) is only a few hundred metres from the highway, LOL.
  14. yeah i think it is best to simply sell your car and buy one already turbo'd. you will come out a few thousand dollars better off. NA skylines sell for about the same as a turbo version, so you aren't really going to lose money on the car. now i know that before you said you didn't want to do it for personal reasons, but unless you have a compulsion so spend money that you don't need to do, then buying the factory turbo car is going to be the best and cheapest idea. hell with the money you save you could pay to have the car resprayed the same colour as your current car.
  15. exactly, plus the race record has very little bearing on they actual pace on the race. all it takes is 1 big smash that takes 15 or 20 mins to clean up and the record is gone, even though the average lap run in race conditions could be 5 or 10 seconds faster.
  16. the problem with the cockpit view is that the pillar gets in the way. in a real car you can look out the side window or move your hear around. the natural field of vision is much greater than on a flat screen. what also shits me is the complete difference in the amount of steering input that the animated driver has to the actual driver. i'd like to see someone do a u-turn on a 2 lane road with only turning the steering wheel 90 degrees.
  17. my grandparents camry had the voltage regulator let go. was charging at 18v. blew a lot of the lights in the car, and they were driving along and all of a sudden the wipers started and wouldn't stop. the voltage had fried the wiper motor too
  18. murphy's lap was also done when the engines had a much shorter shelf life so they could beef them right up and it didn't matter if they only lasted one race. the current cars have been tuned down to make the engine last more than one race, like F1. if you look at a majority of the lap records in F1 you will see that they were set back in 2004 and 2005 (about 8 of the records are). i thought they weigh 1450kg edit: my bad, 1355kg
  19. why? i never had any issues with my series 1.5 running 12psi. still made very good power
  20. i beg to differ....
  21. pinging isn't caused by too much fuel. it's caused by either not enough fuel or too much timing or not high enough octane rating or too hot spark plugs. any of these cause combustion temps to rise and contribute to pinging. as for looking for a tuner, try asking in the QLD section. pretty sure there is even a thread for townsville people, so try looking in there
  22. thanks for digging up a thread from 2009
  23. what reading is the alternator putting out when the car is running? 14v is fine, anything much higher isn't. that's generally how you test the voltage regulator as far as i know.
  24. they could also have the chaser boys with their cars dropped, stupidly high spring rate suspension and buttloads of camber on the rear wheels driving around slowing right down for each bump because either their car bottoms out or they are too scared of it bottoming out, and with flat brimmed caps stuck on top of their helmets.
