  1. why not also send it to today tonight, or ACA. see if they will come and spend a day driving around with you and they can secretly record what happens.
  2. god i love the r35 section. so good for cat fights. non gtr owners stiring shit and gtr owners taking the bait and getting cut. the simple fact remains that everyone buys and mods cars to make themselves happy. they don't have to be the worlds best driver. if it makes them happy then so be it. learning how to take corners 2km/h faster, or brake 5m later isn't going to really do anything for day to day joy that a car brings. having an extra 30kw under your right foot and the feeling you get when you mash your foot into the firewall, now that is a different story. that is something that you can appreciate on the street. that is something you can appreciate without braking any speed limits or anything like that. sure there are modded cars that will beat a stock r35 gtr, just like there are more expensive cars that the GTR will beat. i don't know about you, but i don't buy a car simply based off the performance figures on paper. this is why if i was looking at spending a buttload of money on a car a r35 gtr would be well down the list of cars i would even bother test driving. top of the list would be things like a porsche 911 or a lambo. i don't care that the GTR may be able to beat them round a race track. the GTR just doesn't do anything for me. i'd buy a 370gt before i even test drove a GTR. i don't care about how fast it is, i simply don't like them and that is my opinion which i'm allowed to have and no ammount discussion will change my mind on that, in the same way that if i was to point out all the bad points on the GTR it wouldn't change GTR owners minds about the car.
  3. ignore the turbo timer. it can't tell you what condition your turbo is in. as for feeling different when cold, when the engine is cold the amount of fuel and timing the ecu is running is different to when it's warm. also the turbo and intercooler (and the engine bay in general) are colder so the air is more dense. the sound the turbo is making, well that is hard to say. really need to hear it to know for sure. could just be normal intake noise.
  4. i would assume it would, but not sure.
  5. i was getting 14psi from my stock turbo by about 2700rpm in my 33 maybe you need to up the timing a bit, or maybe you need a boost controller (or if you have one, a better one, but i was only using one of the cheap turbotech manual ones). but you also have to remember that the exhaust housing on the 34 turbos is a touch bigger.
  6. yes it will. hell a r33 gts-t cat would fit in the missus pulsar (size of the cat and flange angles were the same). doesn't really matter about size of the piping though. it really just matters about flange type, angle and the physical size of the cat. you can bolt a 2.5" cat up to a 3.5" system without problems (i know, i've done it)
  7. that's not a cannon exhaust, it's an oval muffler, so that's why it is nice and quiet. you could always try painting it matt black to try to disguise it a bit. it will at least be 1 less shiny object that the police will notice at a distance. as for the bov, putting a stock one back on will make it run a touch better as well as being one less thing for the police to pick on.
  8. well the eclipse is fwd, so maybe all that torque pulling on the engine mounts was enough to pop the rivets holding it in, lol. as for the EMP killing the ecu from the door, i'd believe it. doesn't have to kill the ecu itself, only has to kill the battery and coils, or even just a heap of relays, and since the engine and the battery are earthed to the body, hitting any metal panel will do really.
  9. i'm 189cm with shoes on and have no issues with skylines or 180's. hell the daily is a pulsar and i have no issues with it either. that said, i've always found the lack of reach adjust steering in japanese cars a bit of a pain in the arse. that's one of the reasons why i always find commodores and falcons more comfy to drive, as i can put the seat far enough back to get my legs a bit straighter and still be able to comfortably reach the steering wheel.
  10. it was only $9 more for the 1TB that you linked to. but then harvey norman here often have them for $95, so i'm just waiting for the next time they have a sale on.
  11. i've heard bad things about the protable hard drives for anything over 500mb. they start to get unreliable and you are better off with one that has it's own power cable. they are also a buttload cheaper. for example, through dick smith the WD 500gb passport HDD is $150, the 1TB is $279. if you go to the bigger destop type, a WD 1TB is $118 and 2TB is $189. so for $90 less, doing the desktop type will get you twice the storage. yes i am aware their are cheaper places to ge them than dick smith, but their site was the quickest to get to and find prices on.
  12. they always arrive in store the day before and some shops put them out for sale straight away to steal sales from other shops.
  13. yeah but see then i have to try and be not busy during the time that the races are on, etc. i'm lazy and generally don't plan ahead (because even if i do things usually come up and things never go to plan, so i just take it as it comes).
  14. he says it 4 times. twice about the 1 spot. not exactly a lot.
  15. sounds cool but sounds rather demanding. i like the idea but i'm too lazy to go to all that trouble.
  16. i'd give it a few tanks of fuel (after changing the oil of course), and as i said above, fill it all the way up, reset trip meter, take note of fuel put in and kms at next fill up and check the fuel economy then. that will give you a better (more accurate) indication of what sort of economy it is getting.
  17. LOL
  18. that includes you, you long haired git, LOL
  19. ahahaha, yeah cause the only time that's going to happen will be in the movies, LOL
  20. i only don't like the NA drivers who somehow think that their car is going to flog every commodore out there. they need to wake up and smell the bullshit
  21. you would've been better off looking about 3 posts down the page to the rather large GT5 thread we have going and posting in there.
  22. however in this case it was 52.5% over the limit.
  23. i'd like to see more sleepers and less ricers. also i'd like it to be more realistic as well. none of this neck and neck racing and then having one car drop it back a gear, floor it and just pull away. what sort of cockhead races just to keep up when they have the power to just floor it and blow past them?
  24. yeah i get around 10-11L/100kms out of the pulsar (lots of short trips, so worse economy than others). when i had my magna i got about 13L-16/100kms (13 driving like a granny, 16 fanging it). the skyline i got 17L/100kms, and had to run it on premium. the big aussie cars you can just run on anything you like. find the cheapest fuel and just put that in it. it doesn't bother them. insurance on a falcon or commodore will be dirt cheap though, which is offset by the extra cost of rego. the biggest thing that makes people think the bigger cars are more expensive to run compared to little 4 cylinders is the fact that the fuel tanks generally hold 20 to 30L more, so if you let it get down low it will cost a fair bit to fill up, but you will have gone further between fill ups. for me my actual fuel bill per week was only about $5 more for the magna than the pulsar.
  25. it could depend on a few things. it could simply be that the o2 sensor is stuffed. this controls the amount of fuel the car uses when just cruising along. it could be that from sitting around for so long that the injectors are a bit gummed up and not functioning properly. it could also be that the fuel gauge is a bit dicky as well. for accurate results you really need to fill the tank up to full, reset the trip meter, drive around, when the tank gets low fill up full again and take note of how many litres went in and how many kms were done. you can then use this to calculate the fuel economy into Litres/100kms, and then you can judge how bad the economy is. the info you have given isn't that useful for actually calculating the fuel economy she got. there is also other variables such as how does she drive? if she gives it a bit of beans every time she takes off she will use more fuel. there could be other mechanical issues causing poor economy as well. if the catalytic converter is blocked then the car will be losing power so she will have to apply the accelerator more to accelerate. if the thermostat isn't closing properly then the car won't be coming up to temp properly so it will be spending a lot of time on cold start enrichment and using more fuel. there could be a sticking brake. if the oil is old then it could be a bit sludgy and not lubricating the engine that well.
