doesn't come down to how big you are or how good of a fighter you are. if i met this guy in the street on my way home today i'll tell him he's a dick. all comes down to what sort of people you are used to dealing with. where i live there is a lot of ferals/bogans who like to act all tough and confront you about the slightest little thing. if you look at them while they drive past they will stop, hop out and come and have a go at you (i've had this happen while packing up at work in the afternoon before). it's nothing out of the ordinary and doesn't take much to tell to stop acting like dicks and get them to get back into the car and leave. you just need to know what you are doing

+ ps3 is blu-ray, x-box isn't, so you have to expect some graphics differences. however i don't think you can put that much down to the release date. a lot of the waiting time was them getting it sorted for 3D and playstation move. however yes they have been developing the game for longer even before that. but then if they hadn't been spending time on getting GT5P out and all that crap it may have been out already.

that's the one

the point here everyone is trying to make can be pretty much summed up thusly lose your licence once: fair enough, we all do stupid things when we are young lose your licence a second time in a short period of time: obviously a slow learner lose it a 3rd time in 5 years: are you too stupid to learn the first 2 times that you need to learn what the road rules are and follow them but then i question the intelligence of anyone who loses their licence even the first time. when i had my p's i got done for doing 82 in a 60 zone (hail storm coming and was trying to get home before it hit, but then i did speed a lot of the time back then anyway). i lost 3 points, meaning i had 1 point left. it was 9 months until i got my opens and got more points. in that 9 months my driving habits changed dramatically. i rarely sped, and if it was it was only a few km over the limit, where as before that it was usually 10 to 20kmh over the limit (10 on normal roads, 20 on the highway). having to go so long being a good boy permanently altered my driving habits. i stick to the speed limit 99% of the time. i no longer have a heart attack if i see a cop car coming the other way, or a speed camera or officer with a radar gun because i know that i'm going to be safe. i still check the speedo to make sure i haven't drifted over, but don't have to hit the brakes to slow down like i used to. yet other people i know don't seem to learn. they will get done for speeding or doing burnouts, etc, then continue to go out drifting, etc even though they have 1 or 2 points left, and then sure enough the next time i talk to them they've lost their licence for 3 months or 6 months.

that reminds me of the old NFS games. about 6 months ago i loaded nfs highstakes up here at work and was playing it and it's music sounds a lot like that too. brought back memories of the good old days

spotted rbnt...... when he stopped into work to have a chat, LOL
-
make sure you lay charges against him. hope you get the car back

i would, and regularly do to people who tell me that they were caught speeding, etc. whether i know them or not. especially if i know them. my mate just got his licence back for the 10th time or something like that. he usually loses it in the first 6 months of getting it back because he only has 4 points. i constantly tell him he's a cockhead. i have customers coming in to buy bikes because they lost their licence. i tell them they are stupid as well.

i'm against the 140km/h speed limit for a few reasons. 1: it will cause more crashes because more people will lose control of their cars because a lot of people won't be able to handle those speeds 2: a lot of the roads aren't good enough. the effect of hitting a pot hole at 140 will be a lot greater than at 100 or 110, and you don't want a tyre blowing out at 140kmh. also you have to take into account things like the sharpness of corners. at 140kmh some corners may be too sharp to be safely taken at 140kmh in all cars (remember that the roads have to be suitable for all cars at that speed) 3: a lot of cars aren't capable of safely driving at 140kmh. they might be able to do 140kmh, but that doesn't mean that they would safely be able to do it for extended periods of time, or be able to adequately brake or corner well enough at that speed, as well as the fact that you can expect a lot more cars to break down due to the much more heat generated in the engine from sustained running at 140kmh. 4: it isn't really needed. now number 4 is the key thing (and a lot of people will disagree), a lot of people on here simply want it because they want to be able to drive as fast as possible on the roads, and if it is signed at 140kmh they will do it and think that it is good, but i'd like people to tell me why it should be done with an intelligent response, not just some stupid hoon's repsonse that it will save time, etc. even the time issue isn't that much of a reason. if you drive 25kms at 140kmh and someone else follows you at 110kmh, you will only get there 2 minutes and 54 seconds earlier, but it would've cost you more on fuel. and that is the big key. if it was a long trip (such as a few hundred km), sure it may have taken you 20 or 30 mins less time to get there, but you will lose some of that time back on having to fill up on fuel, and the fact that it's cost you more money to do the same trip. i don't think people realise just how much extra fuel they would use driving at 140kmh, plus the stress it would put on the vehicle. think about all the extra heat being generated and then heating up the exhaust wheel on the stock turbos. would certainly increase the fail rate of stock turbos. and also if the speed limit is 140, then you will get the people who do 150. there are always going to be people who sit 10kmh over the limit no matter what the limit is. and these people will still do stupid things while trying to get around slower cars. personally i think maybe raise them up to 120kmh, but 140kmh is too much.

z32 ecu + nistune = a lot cheaper than a pfc and pretty much just as good
-
pretty cool stuff, especially being able to synch the actual time of day with that of the race

just use the stock one, or if you want something a bit better a stock gtr one. then you can leave it in the stock location and be 100% legal provided that it is still plumbed back into the system.
-
that is sort of beside the point. why bother spending all that money buying a turbo car which you know you can't legally drive, then spend another buttload of money making it legal, which you will then have to spend again making it turbo again? why not just buy a natro to start with, then sell it and buy a turbo one when you are legally allowed to drive one. will save quite a few thousand dollars in the process.

How Can You Check That Your Water Pump Is Working?
mad082 replied to Mid_Nite_R33's topic in General Maintenance
if it boiled itself and ran dry then it may have warped the head and blown a headgasket. definately check the oil for signs of coolant (will be all milky white like a milkshake). the big question is, what caused it to lose all the coolant in the first place? lack of maintenance isn't really an issue as it should all still be in the system unless there is a leak somewhere. brown coolant is often a sign that it has boiled and needs replacing, but generally there are other side affects that go with boiling the coolant (for example a blown headgasket). -
145 000 Kms On R34 Gt-t - Too Much?
mad082 replied to s13-steve's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
this thread amuses me for the fact that people see over about 120,000kms on an import as getting old, where as a commodore or falcon isn't considered getting old until it has over 200,000kms. -
i have a feeling that they may be different. i think it comes down to the plug they have on them where they meet the harness at the back of the motor as the r32 and r33 (not sure if both series 1 and 2, or just series 1) have an ignitor pack there and have a feeling that the plug they use is different to that of the r34. if you have put a 32 loom in then i would do that, however i'd say that more than likely the reason the car ran better with the 32 setup in it was because of the ignitor pack rather than the loom (unless there is obvious damage to the loom).

14.7 is stoich, but you only use that for cruise. when it comes to putting load on in a turbo car then you want things to be 12 or less (anything higher than about 12.5 at high boost and rpm is going to have a short life), however at 80 to 120kmh in 5th gear you are pretty low in the revs so 13.5 probably wouldn't be too far off the mark. what did the noise actually sound like? was is like a marble in a tin can? if so then that is most likely pinging, which is bad. however if it starts doing it more often in other gears and rev ranges then you may have a broken manifold stud and the sound is the gasket vibrating. if the sound was more like it was misfiring then it's either your coils or spark plugs

sister in law has a rx impreza. it's about a 2000 model. AWD, 2.0L. i've driven a bit round town and done a trip to brissy and back in it to pick her up from the airport. they aren't too bad. had a decent amount of go, ride well, comfy, etc. i still prefer my SSS over it (is a fraction faster, better on fuel, nicer feeling gearbox and marginally nicer ride), although i would definately take the impreza over a lot of other 4 cylinder cars in the same section of the market (lancers, etc). i've also driven a 2000 model liberty. it was nice as well, but what spoils them for me is the woodgrain, LOL

R34 Boost Line Through Firewall (wtf Where & How)
mad082 replied to robjay's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
find one of the large rubber grommets that the wiring goes through and cut a small hole in it and force the hose through. you can either do it on the passenger side where the wiring harness goes through the firewall, or there is somewhere on the drivers side near where the steering goes through i think (been ages since i saw under the bonnet of a skyline). i'm pretty sure i had mine going through on the drivers side in my 33. other option is to drill a hole and get a rubber grommet to fit. it you go that way then put a bit of paint in the hole after drilling to stop it rusting. -
was it a brown onion?

was just doing a bit of digging around (that's how i found out about the price) and found an aussie site where guys were saying that they had put pre-orders on at ebgames (in australia, not online). some had put down deposits. not sure if it was required or not. but still no official australian release date. apparently all will be revealed at the european E3 or whatever it's called in august. that is supposed to be when the full reveal of the game is, not just letting people see demo's etc. all the features of the game will be revealed... aparently.
-
ok i'm rethinking putting a pre-order in for gt5 collectors edition because of the price. it is going to be $99US. the last game to be $99US was god of war 3 ultimate, which sells here for $250, but that was exclusive to ebgames. but even just based off other prices it is going to be expensive. most games over there go for about $60 (regular gt5 is listed at $60US) and $120 here, so at $99 you can expect it to be double that, so at least $200. don't think i'm that much of a gt fan. i think i'll stick with the normal edition.

'polishing' R34 Headlight Covers
mad082 replied to gwilkinson34's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
meguires scratch-x and a woolen puffing pad on a drill. takes about 10 seconds per light (takes longer to get the drill, etc than to actually do the job). also doesn't matter if you get it on the paint since that's what it is actually designed for. -
face it, you're a dick. you lost you licence, so assuming that you are on your opens then that means you got done mulitple times doing stupid things. you obviously have a terrible driving history so the insurance quote is reasonable. also the premium is $5000 on a $180,000 car. that is less than 3% of the vehicle cost. hell that's about the cost of a set of tyres for it. to put it into perspective, there are young guys on here paying $2000 to insure a r33 or r34, and that is a car worth at most about $20,000, so they are paying 10% of the value of the car and you are whinging about paying less than 3%. stop being such a cry baby and just pay it. oh and anything i've said here i'll say it to you over the net or to your face. lame threats don't scare me, because i know that if i say it to your face and you react like a childish bully and punch me then i'll just sue your arse off and make sure you end up in jail becoming someone's bitch. a small amount of pain in exhange for knowing that you'd be getting reamed would be more than worth it.
