  1. it isn't a craze. it is something you HAVE to do if you want to be able to drive your car without a missfire when your coils start breaking down. but you don't have to do it unless your coils are breaking down. i only did it because i got a missfire.
  2. i never said motorbikes. i am talking bicycles. i work in the bike industry and i have compared US made stuff as well as taiwan and china made stuff and you can't really tell a difference. i know a guy that imports carbon/alloy bmx forks. they are identical to a big name brand. his get made on the same production line, made to the same specification. they are made at the exact same time, they just don't have the brand name sticker put on them. he retails them at under half of the retail price of the brand name ones. all the chinese made motorbike stuff is crap cause they just want cheap crap, they don't care too much about the quality.
  3. yeah, chinese stuff isn't that bad these days (depending). in the bike industry a very large portion of stuff comes from china, most of it good. it is actually the companies that specify what they want the determine whether it is good or not. if they want it to be cheap it will be crap, but if they are willing to pay a bit more they will get good stuff. it is just that there are a lot of people that are getting the cheapest made stuff they can in order to make maximum profit. which means a lot of people buy stuff, and it breaks, which then makes people think that all chinese made stuff is crap. but now china is starting to get expensive so people are going to india and indonesia and vietnam to get things made. taiwan used to be the cheap crap stuff but now it is where better stuff is made.
  4. any new coils, be they jjr or splitfires, are going to be better than old ones that are arcing out. the jjr ones are probably ones that they have had made copying splitfires. unless you are chasing big horsepower i'd say they would be fine. if you are only running 250kw or below they would be more than ample if your stock ones aren't up to the job.
  5. ummmmmm, that's an excavator not a bulldozer
  6. yeah, holden is 5x120. but wheels off an au/ba falcon, camry or magna will ft. i run the stock r34 wheels on my magna. it was cheaper to buy them than other 17" mags
  7. search the website of department of transport for your state.
  8. i think it really depends on the style of rims. some black with white wheels combos look ugly. some look ok.
  9. autobarn sell them i'm pretty sure. you could have a look at the narva website to see what they do.
  10. it depends on what you want it for. if it is for a CAI duct or to cover the intercooler to hide it then you want one with larger holes to allow maximum airflow. if it is too tightly meshed it will restrict a lot of air.
  11. the very best way to do it would be to get it annodized black. that way airflow is not restricted at all as you are actually dying the alloy.
  12. yeah i would probably go for a quick paint with some matt or satin black. if you powder coat it you may end up with a thick layer through the fins restricting airflow not only through the cooler but to the radiator as well.
  13. if it is a white reflector pointing rewards you stand a good chance of getting booked. it is illegal to have white lights (other than reverse lights and number plate light) and white reflectors pointing rearwards.
  14. my advice would also be to get more glass and put a thick layer all along the back of bar along the bottom to reinforce it. i did that with mine (i had to patch it up anyway since i bought it second hand and it had been broken in 2 just below the passenger side headlight). we just added a heap of glass onto the back of it to strengthen it up. and i hit some fury animal at about 70kmh pulling off the highway 1 afternoon right in the centre bit below the number plate and only ended up with 2 cracks about an inch long.
  15. as eug said, it will depend on how things are before hand. if your AFR's are good then you will gain very little by installing any aftermarket ecu. if your AFR's could use a bit of a tidy up then a safc will help with that at a fraction of the cost of a full ecu. and 10kw gain from a natro car is a pretty good power gain.
  16. get a lukey muffler that isn't a cannon. they are nice and raspy. otherwise it's rice. it is no different to someone putting a cannon on a lancer.
  17. 1-2-3-4-5-6, and no i am not being silly. all the info i can find says it is that.
  18. gts-t's don't have an air intake temp sensor as far as i know.
  19. i thought that was what you meant but just wanted to clarify it.
  20. i use 1 ball mouse and 1 optical, only because i couldn't find a ball mouse to buy. i prefer them simply because they work on every surface.
  21. well the r33 (both series) use the gtr harness. i will look through my posts son and get you part numbers. as for the coils, they have nothing to do with the emu, but you have to alter the jumper setting, which i think it says on page 1 or 2 of this thread and the standard harness is pretty long.
  22. i thought the series 2 reo was the same as the series 1, but the r34 (and gtr) was different and lot of people just substitute them over. i know my mate had to cut his series 2 bar to get his cooler in and the hoon squad just made him weld a reinforcing plate onto it to strengthen it up. i will ask him exactly how much his had to be cut.
  23. don't you know that opinions won't keep you warm at night
  24. yeah thats the one. the missus dad knows the fella. he got $220,000 for it. http://www.shannons.com.au/pages/auctions/...SEK896U3QI9860C
  25. the only time a new pump will make any difference is if the old one isn't doing the job. i installed a 040 into a mates 33 and it dropped about 15hp cause the old pump was dying and causing it to lean out a bit. the new pump dropped the AFRs to where they should be, and stopped it pinging its arse off.
