  1. knocking/tapping can be either noisy lifters or an exhaust leak although these noises normally go away when the engine warms up
  2. metal head gasket lowers compression letting you run higher boost you can run 1 bar on the std gasket (as long as its all tuned right) so i wouldnt worry about it unless youre running 15psi ++
  3. If you are using a bleed valve and are trying to set your boost to say 14psi when do you take this measurement? (given that bleed valves are prone to spiking under certain situations. would you take it a) at night (cold) driving uphill in 3rd? (heavy load on car, most likely to spike?) B) flat road driving during the day (25 degrees ambient temp) the reason i ask is that i have to set my bleed valve to 14psi, during the day the boost reads 0.9 bar exactly (13.05psi) however at night it will rise up around the 0.95-1bar mark (14-14.5psi) so what should i be aiming for? spiking to 14psi with a 13-13.5 psi constand pressure or spiking to 14.5 psi and maintaining a 13.5-14psi constant pressure??
  4. im after the centre console as well email me at [email protected] if its available
  5. i did this on myold car. in the end i turnedit back to black. dont do it in silver or a light/bright colour. youd be amazed how big an area it is to spray! and if in silver, well its just a bit too much. how i did it 1) use wet n dry or other fine sandpaper, sandback the panel slightly just to provide a coarse surface for painting 2) use a primer and give it a light coat 3) i used a spraypaint (auto paint from marlows) which worked well. i only went through one of the big cans. 3) apply a THIN layer of clearcoat.mine lasted like that for about 2-3 months and didnt scratch or anything. as i said earlier i took it off cos it got a bit much... cost: approx $60 and an afternoon's work
  6. shit i really need one of these! but no $$$. whats your email adress? ill email you when i have the funds together and see if its still for sale
  7. cool thanks guys i thought it was a 145A... now for a trip to coventrys
  8. these are all excellent suggestions, except i LIKE my car...
  9. does it go away when u put the clutch in/out? if so may be spigot/release bearing or input shaft bearing (gearbox)
  10. what oil filter (part no as well if anyone knows it) do i use for anRB20DET? thanks! adam
  11. if it was hitting boost cut it wouldnt then go back to normal though... ive got a blitz ECU with SAFC t04e turbo FMIC bosch fuel pump
  12. im going overseas and have to leave my car in the garage/lock up for 6 weeks. can i just leave the car sitting there for that long? or should i have someone start it or take it for a drive every week or so? thanks adam
  13. well the cars only just been boosted to 1bar. was running 8psi the plugs in it are NGK 3CP6ES's which were installed when running on 8psi. probably need new plugs then.... will check the timing as wel though, cheers guys!
  14. i think charging $55 an hour for labour is pretty much standard. and considering alot of their manufactured products like intercoolers, catch cans, radiators are cheaper than the HKS, JUN, APEXi stuff they are reasonably priced.
  15. the car seems to be missing mainly in 3rd and 4th. more so on cold nights and around 4-5000 (as boost hits max) what could this be? im thinking either spark plugs, or ECU retarding timing cos of pinging. any ideas? thanks adam
  16. yeh but it looked cool!
  17. cruise aint until nov 8. definately fixed by then!
  18. i went there today actually its 24 sundercombe st off hutton st in osborne park
  19. ive got that sound. its the front end bearing of the gearbox. to repair it means rebuilding the gearbox, not worth fixing. wait until the box dies and buy a 2nd hand one, easy!
  20. ross @ autoclutch you cann get an organic with 2500lbs pressure plate for $650-$700 that price from cypher is a little expensive. i wouldnt use them for clutch stuff. go to someone who specialises in them. if u look backa few pages i asked this same question and got a heap of repsonses.

    Tyres

hahahahahahahahha sorry troy but dont get them theyre pathetic my mate has them in his 300zx, after 12,000ks of not very syko driving theyre incredibly bald, offer no grip and are weapons in the wet bloody pathetic! as an all round tyre the dunlop fm901s are very good, thats what im using at the moment. the sticker the tyre the quiker it will wear, like the SO3s... depends what youre after. an allround tyre or just one which will get you off the line. pirellis range are also good, but expensive. p-zeros have excellent grip!
  22. were talking 69kw at the flywheel as well. thats approx 70rwhp. say u mod your car a little to 200rwhp thats 3 times the power. hahah thatd be fun!!:burnout:
  23. i suppose you didnt read his post where he asked for our advice... i think it went something like this
  24. yeh its definately not a sellers market! id take off all performance parts, sell those. then sell the std car for $18-$20000. theres more of a market for stock skylines and although you spent good money on modifying the car, it doesnt add a whole heap to the market value unfortunately!
  25. what about the good ol "side intrusion bars"
