  1. i paid $11xx for a set of 235/40s i cant remember exactly how much, they were the tyres i put on when i needed new ones (compliance) 8,000ks later they look brand new. unless someone can tell me a better tyre for the money im gunah get another set once these wear out. excellent tyres!
  2. im using dunlop fm901s, they got me through the winter fine
  3. are wheels world there now?
  4. john @ wheels world can get his hands on most packages but youll find them just as expensive as bob jane i reckon maybe try find some 2nd hand wheels from importers? you can get 18s fairly cheaply that way. a mate of mine got a set of 5 spoke 18s with tyres for his soarer - $1000 trade in for his srd soarer rims/tyres and they look really nice as well...
  5. at BP!? shit didnt the people around help or anything. i guess its all in the past now...
  6. yeh that was the plan. but what injectors can u use which fit the std fuel rail??? the other problem is management. i cant unplug the PFC because its running off a MAP sensor and the catn doesnt start when you unplug it! i wanted a remapped std ECU... any ideas?
  7. cam where did that happen? the best thing we can do it just know the dodgey areas and be careful when driving through them
  8. troy: zac did it clint32: 14psi kym: i hope so!
  9. RTA inpsection is to make sure the car is roadworthy so they check compliance work and also other stuff like lights, brakes, ride height, modifications if your car isnt modified too much they wont care. just make sure all your lights/horn/seatbelts (i cant think of anything else) work!! you might even be able to pick up a checklist from the RTA before taking it over the pits which outlines what you need to have
  10. ive got 17 x 8 and 235/40s all round. no scraping or rubbing and my cars pretty low
  11. yeh the best way is to have a front facing throttle body the shorter the pipes the better throttle response
  12. well zac tuned mine cos i stood there and watched him they dont let formaz tune their cars as they have to take responsibility for what happens on the dyno. they just hire out the formaz dyno because they done have one at their own workshop
  13. you just have to be careful. it wont happen to 90% of us, youve just got to be weary of things like this.... there are upsides to owning a skyline remember! eg a good sunday arvo coast cruise :uh-huh:
  14. must have some of that famous 'Mugen Power'
  15. formaz, cypher, SST and per4mance turbos all charge $110. im still a bit apprehensive about 'tuning' it seems during these tuning sessions that engines die! although ive never heard anything bad about lumpy's work so hes probably worth the extra money
  16. id say thered be a bit of difference, the stock pipes are pretty bad! my intercooler uses the stock piping and im looking at re-doing it soon
  17. the blue screen one has more load pointswhich may effect cost as it takes longer to tune these ones. although id say they could tune it in an hour... i reckon it took em about 15mins to tune mine! its pertty basic... 1 hour on dyno ($110 or $150 lumpy) should do it
  18. ive spoken to lumpy about this and he quoted me $500 per remap i got the 1st gen SAFC. to buy the unit, fit and tune it cost me under $300 and gave me an extra 45rwhp. so i think this worked out better for my situation as im still at the stage when im fiddling around with modifications. remapping is just too expensive when you need to continually refine the tuning... and as has been said before (refer to grandenko for full detials) the AFC indirectly affects timing. not by much, but for the price an AFC is worthwhile particularly if u pick up a 2nd hand one and arent bothered about having a blue neon screen
  19. is it the HKS EVC I/II?? im interested but need more detials before i hand over any money!
  20. is lumpy the only person in perth who can tune e-manage? does anyone else have the software/know-how to tune? $150 an hour isnt cheap!
  21. because ignition changes are expensive. eg remap = $500 per tuning session SAFC's cost $100 for a re-tune. if youre continually modding your car then its unrealistic to keep paying out the large amounts for remaps etc when SAFCs (which may not be the final solution) can provide some tuneability. ignition tuning is also limited by our pump fuel compared to japans isnt it? i plan on getting a remap once ive finished modifying, but for now the SAFC provides enough tuneability to keep the car runing relatively smoothly. shannon: if youre finished modifying, remap. if you plan on doing more than SAFC simply because its cheaper to re-tune once you modify further
  22. haha joe. youre gunah have to cut metal! its not that dodgey... look at mackas car theres no front support bar left!! cut away to allow best airflow to intercooler once youve got the cooler fitted, the best way to do it is make the shortest route possible for the cold air from the intercooler to the plenum. have a look at peoples on the nov 8 cruise though its pretty hard to explain!
  23. yeh make sure tyres are at 32psi or whatever the manual tells ya. this will have a diff on mileage. if your engine is fine, the only real way to get better mileage is to modify your driving also getting the AFs checked could be an idea. nissans run rich as std (for reliability rather than performance) so you could get a second hand AFC fairly cheap and lean out the AF mixture. this will give you better mileage and more hp
  24. rev is that john @ wheels world?
  25. i got cypher to do it they charged 1 hours dyno time ($110) for fitting, tuning and power run which i thought was pretty damn good! and despite what some say, i rate cyphers work very highly! yeh i got ya pms ive just been too lazy to reply! ill do it now...
