Well! I spoke to 2 guys yesterday that have already done the rack & pinion conversion and their knowledge is very well regarded in Nissan/Datsun circles. The main man is Arthur Jackson and the car was a blue MR30 sedan. The conversion was necessary as an engine swap was done to a VG30DE and the old steering box was in the way. They used a Bluebird rack, complete and unmodified. A Bluebird cross member and a modified bluebird steering column usinf a 280ZX link piece modified to correct length (the link piece between the column & rack) beare in mind though it was a non power assisted rack. They also said the old power steering box was as good as you get for most driving situations, other than the most arduous of rally/race conditions, so long as it was in good condition. They found the only downfall with the manual steering box & the rack & pinion conversion was in extremely heavy braking and steering at same time. Cheers, D

Yeah! why do you ask? Haven't traded as such since Nov '04 when I closed the business down and sold off the client base. I had no choice in the end as the types of surveilance we were doing under the guise of security might not have been quite legal, but was for a PI. Is very lucrative if you get the right work. These also come from people suggesting your ebay account, or paypal account or any other trading payment account is suspended. I have now taken the attitude, if I don't know the sender I delete it immediately. -

Ghostrider replied to works 510's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
Just a good dizzy will be fine thank you George. I have a brand new Echlin cap here I bought on ebay for AU$20.00 and my stock one is still ok. I want it for a spare as sure as hell, sometime in the future, 20 or 30 years from now, I might need one. Thanks, Dennis -

George, It's same as four door and you must have a squillion over there. What's happening with our little deal? Cheers, D -

Be a bit sensible with a price and I'll consider freighting the whole car to Sydney -
As I don't want a yard full of cars, the Cressida will be getting the flick, to someone more endearing, but for those that are interested, it's this that I'm thinking of sinking my money into. Cheers, D

Most of the members of this forum have known for some time my father has been ill. Well today was his last, it's over, as he past away early this morning. I'm not looking for sympathy, as I have had time to prepare. I just want you all to know that any irresponsibility in my actions in the near future could have a reason behind them and I apologise if it happens. I just want you to understand why. Thanks, Dennis

I'm looking for something nice to drive! Not interested in making it go like stink, it has to be a daily driver and comfortable to boot. I have been contemplating putting a 4L V8 into my MX83 Cressida and using that as both drive car & tow car. I have my HR30 PNV that I can make go as slow or fast as I care, it's going to be a jump in and drive car, so a luxury barge isn't any problem. Cheers, D

Has anyone owned or driven the Infinity? or know anyone that has? They appear to be comparable to Stageas in power, economy and appointments, just a sedan Vs wagon, yet in the most part half the cost. Cheers, D

Scams can't be helped, but we on another yahoo group have just one way of approaching ebay and that is NEVER bid more than your prepared to loose, as it's a big chance you will loose it, especially dealing international. Cheers, D -

Are you aware, anybody can look at the electoral role. Just have to walk in to any electoral office and sit in front of the computer, it's all there for all to see. Where do you think us PI's start looking? It's only the hard ones that get away. -
Prices Needed On L28e/et And L20e/et Parts
Ghostrider replied to the big JC's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
##################### HOT TIP ########################### Fore anything coming out of NZ. NZ post is the cheapest by far, but any item/parcel/package MUST stay under 20kg as this is the heaviest any NZ agent will accept. I went through this exercise trying to source LD28 cranks in NZ and the lightest we could get one with minimal packing, but still protected, was 22kg and AIR FREIGHT was the only option and that was going to cost me a bomb! The crank I could get for NZ$150.00 but to get it here was over NZ$700.00 by the time it was landed here with all the terminal charges & freight etc etc etc. Air or Sea freight was always calculated on a minimum of 1 cubic metre and therefore the costs were prohibitive Vs the gain in power etc. Cheers, D -

Ghostrider replied to the big JC's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
I reckon, if you approach works510 with $100 for each manifold and another $100 for the ECU & AFM, making a total of $300 you should get it all. I bought an L20ET exhaust manifold for $90 + frt from a wrecker in Brissy about 12 months ago and that was a commercial business price. Dan & Waz should give them to you for about what I suggested. I have a set of L28E injectors you can have for shit. Cheers, D -
Wtd R30 Hot Plate Tail Lights
Ghostrider replied to the big JC's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
The mounts are the same no matter what model, but the wiring changes marginally in the later models. If your Ti Hatch is 84/85 no problems, but if your putting late lights in early body slight mods have to be done. PM Wardie and he'll tell you what you have to do as he fitted a pair I sold him. Cheers, D -
I have never done the specific research, but what I hear on these pages, that's how I see it. I haven't looked as I don't have the need. It's easy enough to find out, go ask a 4WD wrecker. Cheers, D

Sorry!~ it's hrd-hr30 and it's an L20ET in his I think, but just check this classic section and you will find DR's for sale. Cheers, D

For rear camber, my HR is down by at least 50mm and I only have 1.5-2 degrees negative, but SWR or Stewart Wilkins Motorsport at Mulgrave NSW can do adjustable rear trailing arms for about $800.00. The car is fairly reliable and some good ones are for sale on here for fairly good prices if you ask. Try hrd-dr30 for 1, his is for sale Cheers, D

Yeah! I guessed that today when I had a look at my mates. He is putting a VH45DE into a 600SLE Coupe. And I believe it's a fairly common transplant into old mercs. I spoke to another friend who does LPG installations and 2 of his clients have done the same. Cheers, D

You got my PM's, give me a price. Cheers, D -
No Matt T, That is not what's on my mind. I know about that car, Zeb has been trying to sell it for some time, I am interested in it's outcome, primarily to see what he gets for it. I don't know that he will get the $9500 he is asking, but we can only wait and see. Unfortunately, these cars are only valueable to the most serious & dedicated Nissan owners. I will probably be buried in mine My problem goes a bit different to that: Just so everyone understands, I have an 85 yo mother recently assessed with serious/substantial dimentia and a 91 yo father that is unlikely to see next christmas, so I guess I'm not thinking straight all that often these days. Cheers, D PS. If I offend or have offended anybody in recent times please accept my apologies

Warps, Your 100% correct, I should bow out for a time as I have heaps on my mind at present. Couple of things though, and we should help this guy where we can. My first thoughts are towards "SLEEPER" Most people that want a sleeper want to be traffic light heroes I would guess and it should be noted none of us here condone this sort of sh!t. Let's just talk economics first. With say zero brake and suspension upgrades go get yourself a GTS2 engine and ECU or spec an RB30E up to the same. You get yourself 140Kw at the fly and that's more than your going to need to get yourself into more trouble than it's worth. For less dollars, the GTS1 package will get you 130Kw which is still pretty cool as the stock RB30E was good for just 114Kw at the fly. Take away between 25 & 30% loss going through the drive train and you still have a formidable streeter. If you want to put this 140Kw into perspective, the VL Turbo gets just 150Kw and they seem to be the bench mark for anything with an RB30E up front. After this, the sky is the limit, you got the dollars, we can tell you how to get the HP and believe it or not 300 at the wheels is relatively easy, but suspension & brake improvements will get you better handling and therefore quicker point to point. Cheers, D

I assume your having a dig at me! so I will answer a bit of your uneducated statements. 1. As for your "learn to drive properly" comment. When you can do 49.6 around Oran Park come and talk some more. 2. Where has anything been said about anything TURBO in a V8????????????? 3. As for suspension etc etc etc. The guy asked what he could do to make a sleeper on the reletive cheap. And rsx84 has already addressed the brake suspension etc issue & it's $$$$$$'s, or did you conveniently miss that. Are you aware that the ALL ALLOY VH45 V8 weighs less than an RB30E cast iron block & alloy head combo, so I don't know if there is any great need for any huge suspension upgrade in the R31. As for my MX83, I bet you also don't know that a series of the Chaser in Japan of that vintage, that most of the Cressida's in Oz are based, came out with a 2500 DOHC 24V twin turbo motor pumping 206Kw and the same running gear I have standard and that the all alloy 1UZFE V8 is also lighter than the 7MGE standard motor. And theoretically the V8 will sit further back, distributing the load more evenly between the axles, which is by far a better handling equation than standard. Guess that should settle that eh! There is just one thing we are overlooking, and that is we don't know what he wants to do with it and if he wants to be a street racer, it's his business and none of ours, but rsx84 has also addressed, NOTHING in HP gains comes CHEAP and the gains are all relevant to $$$'s spent. IF it was mine, I would be doing a GTS2 spec RB30E and leave it at that as 140Kw n/a and looking like nothing has been done will always be as good as any 150Kw of a VL Turbo which everyone thinks is quite a weapon off the showroom floor.

I guess in that case it has to be something like this.
