G'day, my r32 GTR has a creak in the drivers door, at first I thought it was the trim rubbing and I have had drama with this door ever since I have had the car, the elec window keeps stuffing up. while in being serviced the rep who handled my car mentioned that he came across a similar problem a while ago but at the time he couldnt remember what the creaking issue was. He just gave me a call a suggested I have the spot welds of the chassis checked as this was the problem with the other car he had seen. has anyone had this type of problem on thier skyline? or can anyone suggest a shop that would be good to use to check out this type of problem. if it is expensive? TBH this has me a little concerned :|

  7. must try this, but the locator shows the closest station to me is Millpark, might have to run the weapon dry and fill up before a country cruise/thrash. I have used Boost 98 which has an ethanol content but it seems down on power. Mobil 8000 is my choice atm.
  8. could make some difference depending on what Vic Roads office you take it to. I know Carlton has a full workshop and may want to have a close look at the car, on the other hand Greensborough has nothing of the sort and when I rego'd my XT GT falcon complete with tunnel rams the chick asked me if it was a 6 or a v8 o_O that said you could have insurance probs as pointed out above

    yeah good, actually feels smoother than after I got it back from MPC, the car would often pop and fart through the exaust and chug if realy cold, seems apples now and much smoother. It was also overboosting, sometimes by alot, now it seems to be much more consistant. perhaps the chugging, black mist and overboosting was from running rich. so yeah pretty happy with the service

    Well the GTR went in yesterday for its service, they were nice to deal with, total cost was $226 and change so not bad. they recon the bushes are fine, the high idle is the IAC valve which needs pulling down. they have done somthing with the tune as the car now no longer sprays black mist at 7k rpm gear changes. have about 2000k's left on my brake pads and tyres are shagged (already knew this ofcourse) I didnt get a detail as there is suface rust in the boot I need to attend to, i'll do that first... so the basic service for $226 is not bad imho. reccomended if your skyline is still running the factry computer
  12. I drive my GTR every day, wouldnt change that for the world although I'd like a second one to make go like stink even more. GTR becomes toy when I can afford 911 turbo

    cost me $1200 for a full going over and Dyno by MPC when I fist got the car. that was for plugs, all fluids including geabox, rear and centre diff + filters and timing belt and a few hours on the dyno dialing in the tune and boost. It has always idled at around 1100-1200 rpm which shits me no end and the plume of smoke just freaks me out although it just seems like unburnt gasses. MPC reported that castor rod bushes and rear tie rod ends need replacement which I better have done as I'm not far off needing some new rubber. surley it wont be anywhere near $1200 this time around yea?

    Northern Nissan

    Anyone used Northern Nissan? When I got my GTR I took it to MPC for all fluids and a dyno, seeing as they are a fair way away from me and my next service is due I was going to get a factory sevice done. My car has a stock computer, 3" exaust, pods and some extra boost. It is idling high at the moment which is annoying and seems to be running bloody rich as it drops a plume of black misty smoke under high rpm gearchanges (hope thats all it is) Also need a few bushes done and a detail. so, anyone used Northern Nissan? they up to the task for these things I need done? alternativly anyone reccomend someone else in the northern suburbs? cheers

  19. I had my drivers lectric window replaced for $180, full unit and frame wich I found fair considering I did squat and they got to drive my GTR around town to get the part.. Gary's car radio did mine while fitting a new system, i'm sure if you take them your bits they wouldnt charge to much to fit it.

  21. my tuner said its running rich and my car has a constant film of black soot on the back of it so I'm guessing if it is over feuling its just more noticable at high RPM gearchanges? that sound plausable? and yeah I try to keep her under 1bar, but it tends to overboost if its cold outside and especially if my oil is hot

Heya, My GTR tends to drop a pretty decent puff of smoke when up around the 6800/7200 RPM zone, the engine is a stocker with the usual mods (pipes & 3" exaust, pods and slightly bigger FMIC) I have seen a few GTR's drop some smoke at high rpm but mine seems a bit excessive, its been dyno'd and is making 193kw at all 4 @ 6000rpm with .9bar when held over 6000rpm it over boosts a bit and I dont usually hold it in gear too long, depending on the temperature it overboosts to between 1.2bar and 1.6bar I know this is bad for my turbos (my tuner actually is not sure if they are stockers or not due to a late spoolup, he recons they could be some aftermarket ones) I know skylines run a bit rich or am I kidding myself and its actually my turbos chewing themselfs up?
