yeah its still in. this car is my company vehicle so all work is pimped from the buisness so I 'aint pulling it out myself I do pay aroune %20 of all the stuff that gets done to it so along with the PFC, cam gears, tune etc it still adds up to a fair whack especially considering my insurance and rego is due.. I spose if my PFC gets here soon (waiting 4 weeks so far grrr...) I will get a tow truck to take it to my tuner (which will be a very sad sight indeed) so considering my target output with the mods going on it will be 240-250awkw a bosch 044 will cover this tune and when I fit injectors and some bigger turbos for 280+awkw later on? and whats the go with the walbro pumps? I have heard some differing reports about them..

Ran my car dry today, stupid I know, but I have been so flat out with work that I have missed filling up for a few days. Anyway, I was leaving work and she sputtered to a halt. I grabbed a gerry can and the work truck and got $20 of juice and gave her a little drink. the fuel pump sounded ok to begin with, the familiar whirr to pressurise the line but she was spluttering and stalling, then the pump was kinda sounding different, much quieter. I couldent get her running so I pushed it into my factory and drove the work truck home. Is it likely that I have stuffed the pump? Is it common that if you run your car dry the pump will sh!t itself? The car is soon to go into MPC for cam gears and PFC + tune, (if Paul ever gets the PFC to me...! ) So I spose I can get Lee at MPC to fit a bosh 044 for me while he is at it, or is there a better option? or do I need to do a special little dance to get the stock pump to prime? cheers for any assistance

personally if I had $60-$80k to spend I'd go for either a TVR Griffith or a Maserati Shamal, I'll get him to drive a r34 GTR atleast, but I think he will stick to porsche, the issue for him is the difference between a mint R34 GTR and a 993 is $20k+. If he goes the GTR he will only keep it for 3-4 years until he retires, then he will nab a 993 turbo for sure. cheers

It will be his daily driver, he did see the Atom on top gear and said he wanted one at the time... cant see him blasting off to work in one every day tho
-
He has driven my car (R32 GTR and considers it primitive and is unimpressed with the power delivery) so I think he is after the euro prestige and pedigree, his ultimate is the final turbo/air cooled 911 turbo as it represents the classic 911's development. I have suggested that what he is looking for and enjoy's in a car the R34 GTR will do and be a reasonable move from his ols porsche before spending mega bucks on a late model turbo/air cooled 911. altho the rx7 is pwnage I cant see him investing in a rotor... mind you I have mentioned NSX its interesting for me aswel considering I wouldnt buy a different performance car that a GTR after $60k
-
my dad is looking to replace his 1984 911, I have suggested a r34 GTR, (obviously)... opinions for his replacement? atm a newer 911 is on the cards, but seriously, there is little value there as far as package/performance is concerned. what options can you suggest?

The Things I Dislike About My Skyline
Betz replied to Vazard's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
r32 GTR wont help your low down power woes (sure it makes ok power down low, but it still feels sluggish compared to when on boost) they are also horribly uncomfortable for long periods on coarse roads if you have coilovers (I hate my coilovers on long trips) and the cops... well they just love to hastle anything that looks potentially fast (usually because if it looks fast, chances are that it is) we are all in the same boat -
If you cant be with the one you love, then love the one your with..
-
isnt the handling on these things a little dubious? I have heard they are death machines as they have a habit of spearing off the road on high speed corners. that said I would love to get one total weapon

I could say so much right now.. but mother always said if you have nothing nice to say, dont say anything at all.

it seems to do a pretty good job Jonesy, my stock turbos are dialed in at .9bar and it only spikes to around 1.2bar if the oil is hot and the air outside is cool. if it does spike it rights itself very quickly and if I'm holding high rpm it drops back to .9-1bar, I look at it as a bit of an extra ride at 6k rpm + mind you my car made its maximum power figure at a low 6000 rpm so it stands to reason on the gas up to 7.2-7.5k rpms I'm going to get a little more boost in there. I spoke to Lee at MPC after I got my car back and he said its fine aslong as its not doing it all the time or it stays above 1.2 with it floored on the freeway or the like.

I'll look for the link but what trident says is correct, the parent company got into finantial problems and it seems production was wound down/halted /goes googling googled, hope you can read Japanese http://www.apexera.co.jp/pdf/message070209.pdf

its not locked up, but seems to spin up with engine rpm to much and I feel there is to much whooshing going on in the engine bay.... and not the good type the turbs do
-
I have that specific EBC and it seems to work well if I have a mate drive I hit the 'low boost' button [edit] I have noticed I get a boost spike on the high setting at very high rpm just on gear change but I have a feeling its my tune (big fuel dump at 7k rpm)
-
One thing that has always bugged me about my 32 is altho I love a L6 layout its still kinda primitive and uses a stupid thermo clutch fan assembly to cool the beast down. I know this is robbing power and the whoosh of air from spinning the fan annoys me as it lessens the engine note (RB's havnt got the greates sound, but its still nicer than a bloody fan whirring away) surely its a relitivly common item to be binned in favor of somthing better, are there any kits available? or is this somthing ppl dont bother attempting? (yes I searched)
-
oh thats just nasty.... similar thing happened to me a few months back I had a rant on another forum.. it went somthing like this >>>>> Dear women with prams, a pram is not an extention of your arm that is appropriate to close a car door with.. they scratch and dint delicate aluminium nissan skyline GTR doors. thinking you may have realised this I opened my car door prior to paying your husband for the monitor I won off ebay so I could be on my way and out of your driveway and indeed your life. because you are a fat lazy sow and couldnt be f**ked closing my door by hand while you loaded you screaming little piglets into your POS hyundai you thought I wouldnt notice or care that you damaged my car. now I can't just take my monitor and be on my way, out of your driveway and life. now I have to get a quote to fix the door you scratched and hold you to your (husbands) word that you will pay because you didn't know you did it. may one of your screaming ratbag kids put the car into reverse and run you down before you f**k up peoples nice vehicles because you are an ignorant fat cow. /end rant who the f**k uses a pram to close doors and shit like that? I think I chewed the inside of both cheeks out so I wouldnt throttle her there and then infront of her children. I am so pissed off! :'( /goes to pub to drown in beer <<<<<

What Will These Mods Be Worth At The Wheels?
Betz replied to Betz's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
sweet, am looking for 300hp at all 4 on a safe tune, 400hp at all 4 with turbos, injectors and cams later on.. then the inevitable rebuild -
Hi, I read Beer barons results for cam gears and mine will be fitted next week. car currently has: stock rb26dett Trust pods 3" back from the dumps (2.5" cat unfortunatly) terb timer and 2 stage boost controller. 183awkw @ .9 bar I will be fitting, decat pipe, adjustable cam gears, Apexi PFC. what kind of increace should I expect with those add ons? I feel the car is suffering with the 2.5" cat so I'm going to try a decat pipe then maybe a high flow cat down the track (if its not sucha great increace I may change the exuaust as there are a lot of bends in it) some new turbo's would be nice but I cant streatch the budget for them just yet, that comes later with the cams. from Beer Barons results it looks like around 30-35kw @ the wheels for the cam gears alone, any idea what the other supporting mods will get me? cheers Betz

from the research I have done it seems pretty uncommon to damage the engine when an exaust turbine drops off. sure if your doing 200ks and on the redline + engine cough it could make its way through all the piping and into the engine.... but it'd be pretty rare I'm tipping. reason why I am waiting is because when a terb blows I'll be doing the entire head and manifold system and putting it on my stock bottom end until its blows
