Probably just a bit of gunk stuck in the lifter, I would say the reason it goes away with more revs is that the oil pressure goes up with revs (more oil forcing it's way in to pump the lifter up) and the reason it goes away with temperature is that the oil thins out and will find it easier to get past the gunk.
My 2c.
PM details ploise
But yeah, close to Perth.. Roleystone hills are fun, Croyden Rd/Soldiers Rd/etc. many cruises go through there and hit up the zigzags on the way out.
And if any car warranted it, it's our heavy busses. The 3L in my 32 is just silly, so much torque in such a little car.. one day teh wagon will get one too
Swaybars will make more of a difference to body roll than a set of coilovers.
And here's a tip, don't listen to what mechanics tell you about suspension, get it from the horses mouth (Brad@WAsuspenders).
I've snapped a pivot, not exactly fun trying to rev-match a synchro box to change gears for 10km. Crash box on the other hand is fine
For the peace of mind (especially with a heavy clutch), I'd put the Nismo pivot in while you have the box out.
Oh and I've had my Nismo pedal bracket sitting there for YEARS in anticipation of my breaking lol
Wow.
When I went to upgrade to a 25t box, it was $1500 for an unknown 2nd hand with no guarantees and that seems to be the going price everywhere over here.. occaisionally you'll see one for $1200 from a private seller.
It's quite annoying and disgusting but hey, what can you do? For $600 for the least risk I'd break 3 and replace until I felt I needed to rebuild one.
GTR boxes go for 600ish but a fair effort to turn it into rwd.
Good luck
That's a pretty blanket statement.. it really depends on size, profile, suspension setup and use.
The pressures I posted above are what I have found to be the best in my situations.
Experiment people, don't take anyones words as gospel.
Doesn't matter if you have a boost controller or not, the stock RB20 actuator is ~10psi, the only way you could go lower is with an R33/34 actuator which is ~5psi but that's just stupid.
My stock ECU handled 14psi with the stock turbo and 12psi with the RB25 turbo.
I think he said he doesn't have a cat.
How many km has the engine done? has the timing belt been done? (thinking it may have slipped a tooth or two?)
But yeah, the stock exhaust won't be doing you any favours.. get a full 3" turbo back.
And find someone in your area with another stocker and compare.
