  1. got that now, didn't know that when I first made the comment. Anywhoo - if you do ID the wing, make sure you tell the rest of us so we know who not to buy a body kit from. If the wing is that huge, can you imagine what the matching front bar would look like?
  2. I say that because this is a PUBLIC forum and posting pics of a car that you like before it goes to auction is a big flag being waved to every buying agent that there is going to be a buyer for it, and every man and his dog with the ability to comply a car is going to put a bid on it if they think there is a better chance of a buyer for car A as opposed to car B, C or D. It has happened before on this forum
  3. For your sake, I hope that car isn't going to auction because you have just added a LOT to the price by putting those pics up....
  4. If you can be bothered to give me a hand to get them off, I have a set of 17" rims on my wreck still that you are welcome to borrow for the inspection, and I live just around the corner from the Kelmscott licencing centre. They are the same rims you saw the night of the ghost cruise. Let me know if you are interested.
  5. LOL! Its funny because its true!!! *sob*
  6. LOL! Drivers side of the engine block, about 2/3 of the way down. You WILL need to grow an extra elbow between the existing one and your wrist to remove it tho.
  7. WA FTMFW!!!!!!! no crap restrictions on P platers here...........yet
  8. The stagea has the exact same attessa system as the GTS-4 and it isn't a real good idea to drive around in 2WD all the time because you can really stuff the clutch packs in the transfer case. The problem is, due to the pre-emptive nature of the attessa system, the front wheels are never completely without drive, (as the stagea is based on the R33) even if no torque is being transfered as per the gauge readouts. If you do a search in the stagea section you will see that the general consensus is the only way to run 2wd is to drop the front driveshaft. We have a member that tried to just drop the fuse for a 2wd dyno run, and the whole car ended up full of smoke from the clutch packs in the transfer case.
  9. yeah....so....about that ford engine...
  10. Aw dude, duuuuude...... I feel so sorry for you. That sucks in ways that most of us can't even imagine. Heaviest comisserations to all involved, and I really hope something eventually comes of it.
  11. Well, make sure you keep an eye out for the chicane team driving around in a white XF panel van - 'Sme!!!
  12. and for that, you win a finally had a chance to use that!
  13. No, I am not talking about 4 door cars at all. This is the country that built the fastest 4 door car in the world for almost 30 years and our premier racing category is based exclusily around 4 door cars. The Stagea, by the factory definition, is a touring wagon, not a sport wagon. Besides, name one single racing division devoted to station wagons anyway.... As for the distances travelled, I was talking about avererages, not personal distances. I could start quoting highway patrol figures by the Australian police that run to 550 000kms a year, but why bother? It is national averages we are talking about here. Don't get me wrong dude, I do not wish to put you down in any way. Its the diversity of car modifiers that makes any car scene so fun, and I learn more watching someone go about something that I think is ludicrous, as I do watching someone do something that I am likely to try myself. The crux of what I am saying is, if someone here in Australia tried to do the things to a Stagea that you are doing, the car would last about 30 seconds before it was involved in an accident, was pulled over by the police, or had a catastophic failure. And the Forrester as a race car?? WTFBBQ????? I shot coffee out of my nose all over my keyboard just reading that. Please tell me that was a joke.
  14. Um, I think you will find that most of the reactions to your "extreme" ideas (well, my reactions anyway) is because you seem to be intent on making a sports car out of something that was never designed to be a sports car. Most of the people on here realized that and are planning their mods appropriately. Not to say there isn't some wildly modiifed Stageas here (Heck, 605bhp at the wheels is wild in any car - Go Brad!) but the general consensus here is that first and foremost the Stagea is "a functional yet comfortable touring wagon" and not too many people I know are gonna go crazy over stupid amounts of lowering / extended exhausts / stretched tyres etc etc etc. When you get right down to it, Australians do a LOT more kilometeres in their cars than the japanese do (average 10-15 000 kms per year as opposed to 25-25 000 kms per year) so I think it forces us to be a lot more coherent in the way that we plan and execute our mods, and how they affect the practicality of the vehicle and I for one think this is a good thing.
  15. I have got the front moulded mudflap thingies, but no rear wing. PM me if interested
  16. Low frequency sound waves are big and long so the further away from the passengers you can mount them, the more time you have for the sound wave to develop properly before it reaches you. Thats why all the high end installs have the subs as far down the back as possible. Its not a bad idea to stick little ones all over the place, but you have to remember that below 10" the smaller the diameter, the more low end accuracy you lose.
  17. Just a tip - unles you have a passionate fetish for replacing the gas struts, do NOT put anything heavier than a 6" speaker in the tailgate. The bloody tailgate weigh's enough as it is And if you do put speakers in there, pleasepleasepleaseplease make sure you really solidly mount them because in the case of getting rear ended, they will turn into a rawther nasty projectile...... IMO the compartment you are talking about wouldn't be anywhere near enough air to mount anything other than a free to air sub and they suck.
  18. At the risk of being way off track, you haven't stated whether this happens only whilst drivng or when parked and revving as well. The reason I say this is because just after picking up my Stagea after purchase, it developed a knocking sound just like you are describing and I did the stethescope thing nd all sorts of buggering around. Even had a mate take it for a drive with all the console out so I could probe the gearbox and transfer case etc because it was only at very certain revs we could hear it. It actually turned out to be the uni joint on the front driveshaft and I only got it just before it snapped "shudders".
  19. I don't have any photo's but you may be pushing shit uphill with a thin stick my friend. The spare wheel is a space saver so the well isn't that deep, and the panels on either side just cover the top of the fuel tank (the one on the drivers side covers the access to the fuel tank cover) . The best thing I can suggest is that you try and make use of the room between the rear strut uprights and the back of the rear seat. It will be about the only way you can do it and still be able to chuck in large stuff like bikes etc. One of the many joys of sharing the skyline floor pan.
  20. you can just undo 4 bolts and drop the front driveshaft, but you will lose about 10kw.
  21. sounds more like a minispool then a 2 way to me, but it also may be an LSD with siezed clutch packs....
