  1. I'm pretty sure that GM and Ford are both using the ZF 6 speed now, just with different ratio's and shifter set ups.
  2. the 3 days was to asess it for insurance because they had nothing like it on their records, not to provide a pre-purchase inspection. I still reckon you would be better off getting the inspection done by an import workshop. They are a lot more likely to know where to look for problems (like rust under the wing mirrors) and they will give a prospective buyer a fair bit more confidence.
  3. and you might even have enough money left over to replace the glass diffs every 20 000 km's Tell ur parents to sell all the kids for scientific experiments and go buy an Audi RS4 Avant.
  4. I bet you invested in the Moller skycar too didn't ya?
  5. Don't believe everything you see on TV dood. Yes, there are a crapload of jobs going up north at the moment, but things are no where near as awesome as 60 minutes make out. Firstly, the idea that anyone with zero experience can just walk on to a mine site is a joke. There is a mines health act (law) in place in WA that says that there are a heap of inductions and stuff you have to go through before they will let you anywhere near the front gate, and that isn't anything to do with what you will be doing once you get on site. The only accomodation on offer at the moment is "basic" to say the least. Unless you are employed by a big company that already has housing available, you will find it pretty hard to find somewhere to stay. I have a mate paying about $550 a week for a caravan site, and rentals in places like Tom Price have gone past $1000 per week for a 3 bed fibro house. My best advice w2ould be to contact the HR department in a few of the larger companies (Mcmahon construction, Roche, Clough ETC) and talk to them about what they are looking for. Chances are, they will put you onto a HR provider they outsource to and go from there. Just don't think you will be able to move over here and start earning squillions of dollars straight away with no quals. If that really was the case Perth would be a ghost town by now.
  6. 33 I was a late bloomer
  7. You might want to mention to the bloke that the RAC won't know their arse from their elbow when it comes to imports. If the guy is serious, tell him to talk to one of the guys at autoworx or any of the other workshops in WA (I'm sure Brad will be able to tell you which one to use ). At least then they know what they are talking about. I contacted RAC about insurance when I bought mine, they had no idea what it was and told me they wanted the car fror 3 days for assesment before they could give me an answer.
  8. Actually, the worlds quickest electric vehicle is a motorbike. Capable of 8.2 for a standing quater mile with more to come. http://www.killacycle.com/ Also check out http://www.NEDRA.com for more electrical lunacy.
  9. Yeah, saw that one the other day - its got an NA grill on it too. I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.
  10. ^ hell no, have you ever seen a 250X flow in an engine blow up comp? Those bloody things can still start up with 2 rods hanging out of the block. Big ups for backyard engineering.
  11. happy birthday for yesterday cupcake.
  12. 7 month import process? Seems a bit long. If its your first import be aware that the odo reading is probably way off. Its not that hard to wind them back and while Jap cars do a few less km's per year than aussie ones, its usually 10 000 km's per year as opposed to 25-30 000 km's per year. Other than that, welcome. Now. Picsorban
  13. I am having a little trouble getting my head around the actual problem you are having. Are we talking about the hub retaining bolts or the caliper retaining bolts? Secondly, are you talking about 12mm thread size or head size? You made need a vernier caliper to figure this out properly. If you can answer these I may have some suggestions.... Oh, and Leshy, do us all a favour and stick this in your sig
  14. but you can always respond with .....
  15. I just saw a black VP-VS commonwhore on the road outside the office with transformers stickers all over it and a number plate that said DECEPTIKON or somesuch crap. Looked shocking
  16. dry ur eyes princess..
  17. ETS only, and only RS4-S (and possibly RS4-V) have the LSD
  18. speaking as someone who has broken 4 wheel traction I gotta say that AWD is waaaaay safer. I was being an idiot (on private property of course) and managed to get my stag into a drift. Apart from the fact that the transition from grip to no grip was so smooth I almost didn't realise what was happening, all I had to do was lift off ever so slightly and then got straight back on it and the car just snapped back into line and took off like a scalded cat. That was on a wet road too.
  19. Maybe try and have a civil chat to her and explain that your car is legal, and if she keeps calling the cops than they will eventually learn to ignore calls from ur address and then when she needs them to help her she will be in the poo. Play on her old lady insecurities - she is bound to see sense even if she won't admit it to you.
  20. *slap* so you should be! Seriously I am a huge fan of learning to drive a car before driving on the roads. It is hard enough for a young person to get their head around all the road rules, courtesies etc, without having to learn to control a car at the same time. My daughter just turned 12 and I will soon be starting to teach her. My tip - go down to your local footy oval. There is usually a car park as well as a road/track of some sort around the perimeter and if you are sensible the cops should leave you alone (well they do around my part of the woods) Just be aware that you are in control of a 1.5 tonne steel weapon and you will be all good. *edit - there is no point in ever revving a TR magna past 5K. You will break something if you do it too often (cyl heads were a weakness) as for dropping it in D at that engine speed? All you are doing is shock loading your entire drivetrain and something will eventually give in a spectacular fashion. My money is on the gearbox. Concentrate on driving smoothly and cleanly. Leave the heroics for the defensive driving course / skidpan
