  2. did anyone get to see the new Toyota Klugers they used as fast sweepers? Man, I was on the 3rd last stage and I laughed my head off as they went past. Both were blowing oil smoke, front wheels black with brake dust and I am 99% sure the champagne coloured one had 2 if not 3 knackered CV joints. SUV FTMFL!!!

  5. Spotted a S2 in silver with Dayz front bar and a dark green stock one, both as stage cars at todays targa west. Also spotted Appealing both yesterday and today as advance car. Looking good there too d00d.

  10. Point taken I didn't think they would collapse but after wearing out 6 different sets in my foulcoon wagon its something I can heartily recommend NOT doing. I tried getting heavier ones and kept getting told that was all that was available. still wouldn't want speakers hitting me in the back of my head 1.5 seconds after being rear ended though.....

I don't think so, I may be wrong (I am pretty sure that happened once) but due to the A9X Torana, and even the new turbo diesel puegot has fibreglass bonnet vents so they do comply with adr's I just think that you would have to be careful not to cut any braces or anything to install them. I think its a great idea myself and I was looking at the same thing myself, anything that removes under bonnet heat can only be a good thing IMO

  15. are you sure you are trying to undo it in the right direction? How can that not work? I have done that on a few motors (but I used a loooong breaker bar and rested it on the ground) including a high comp 308 and it worked

  17. If you are remotely interested in the real story of the GRM R32 GTR I strongly suggest you grab a copy of the latest Australian Muscle Car magazine. It has a brilliant story on the history of Gary Rogers and the story of his success. For instance, did you know that the CEO of Nismo actually rang Gary Rodgers and asked him not to bring his cars to Japan to race at Mt Fuji because they could only get 550hp out of their cars but good old aussie ingenuity was pulling 625hp out of the same engine, and the japs were a bit worried about getting whupped by their own cars on their own tracks. The story about the creation of the V8 Supertaxi's is actually a bit more involved than that too, Steve. The australian public were fervent followers of Dick Johnson at the time who was racing the F5000 Sierra, it had more to do with the (now failed) WTCC and them using Bathurst as a round of their own championship whilst causing massive barriers for the australians that were trying to compete on the world stage. I have heard rumours that they asked Larry Perkins and co for an entrance subscription to the series that was worth more than their yearly budget! It makes their 4th placing at Spa even more impressive IMO

  19. I wouldn't recommend putting any speakers in the rear door. I did that in my old foulcoon and it kept destroying the struts (like the stagea tailgate isn't heavy enough?) Also, as previously mentioned, if they aren't secured or you get hit hard enough from behind they would make some nasty in-car projectiles. Tuned port enclosures are the way to go for wagons, just get the box and port properly designed and your ears will love you for it.

Yes the water spray makes a big difference, the trick is to a) stop the water draining out the nozzle (the resivior will be above the outlet so you will need an anti-syphon set up) b) some way of activating it. Either temperature or throttle position would be my pick. As for the air supply issue with the S2 cooler on a S1 - the easiest way to get around that problem is to get the R34 GTsT ducting and cut to suit. I looked into all this quite closely right up until I smashed my car but I came to the same conclusions you seem to. This seemed the best option I could find, but if you are good with electronics you could probably come up with something similar yourself (I'm not and I couldn't ) http://www.mearcat.com.au/Kits/

  22. afaik the awd versions never had an issue with oil leaking from the filter (unless it wasn't tightened) so I would call shennanigans on the dealer for that, besides, if it is the transfer case that is leaking it would be trans oil NOT engine oil anyway. The gearboxes in these cars are usually trouble free, but the problem you have with an oil leak there isn't really a gearbox issue - its an ATESSA issue and whilst these too are usually trouble fre units (if treated with respect and care) if it is shagged there is a lot of $$$ involved in fixing them, just like a GTR As for the comparison to a foulcoon? Try comparing a std falcon to a standard stagea for a true comparison. A stagea with a few bolt ons will chew up and spit out a 6 cyl falcon no worries. Not to mention the security of 4WD. IMO the falcon could never handle as well as a falcon either(or commonwhore)
  23. Yeah - I have seen a very similar bastard child S2 tha had no triptronic. It did have the white faced gauges though, and it also had the Neo engine so I have no answers for you there. I can say that the one I saw I would still consider because it had a very unique level of trim and some very nice bits 'n pieces (Dayz bar, among others) If you like the car then just evaluate it on its own merits, not wether it has everything a RS4 has. You may even save a few bucks on it and it would be a great base for a manual conversion later on.
