Bring more bacon! 2kg wasn't enough :aroused:

One of my best mates has a GTiR. Stock standard those things are little rippers. Tendency to understeer with stock suspension (atleast his was). Throw $2k at suspension (full whiteline kit for example) and they handle great. Skyline advantages over a GTiR - easier to mod (off the shelf), RWD, bigger engine bay, easier to find fellow line owners, service costs less. Disadvantages - every man and his dog has a r33, r33 (meh!), RWD GTiR advantages over a liner - AWD, hoons without mods, light, rare disadvantages - service costs more, harder to find parts/do up Changing things like injectors and clutches are bloody time-consuming jobs on the GTiR. Parts would be easier on the skyline. They are totally different cars however. GTiR was something like 70k when it came out so they're built pretty well. On the other hand he can't just get a cheapo exhaust manifold for it to whack on like I can (damn those small engine bays). Mind you they do easy 13's pretty stock.

Very nice S-Kid. Looks professional and I'm sure it will test out likewise. Happy new year.

Ah - thanks for the reply I see Might wait a few months and see how I go... cams first I think but when the engine gets opened to put cams in I'll want to do other stuff... which will turn the $1000 job into a 2-3k job heh heh.... awww I made myself sad

Just out of interest I'm about to change my fuel filter. Should I run the fuel system cleaner before or after? (ideally I should change filters, run the cleaner then change filters again right?) Thanks.

Official NSW Skyline spotted thread

Me p'raps? Not sure of the day I *think* I was around the area recently. If it was me I have a SAU sticker on the back of the windscreen in which case :wavey: -
This may, or may not concern anyone but I've always wanted a aluminium bonnet for my car because of the weight saving and legality/practicality. CF is great on a track but imagine hitting someone/being involved in an accident. I imagine that stuff splinters, and as if someone being hit by a car isn't bad enough imagine the whole bonnet splintering into them, or into another car as it impacts you (or you impact them). I think they're illegal for a reason, and unlike most stuff that's illegal to modify I think it's illegal for a good reason. Mind you having said that I've never seen one in an impact so maybe I'm over-dramatising. *shrug* something to think about. (Oh and if you have insurance they might not pay you because your car isn't legal). If you're comfortable with all that then go for your life - when I can afford it I will be getting an aluminium custom. As for you skyline boys I think you can just swap a GTR bonnet right?

Heh every 2 threads I see that install. If you do get smaller enclosures you will need to run more power but (i think) you will also get 'tighter' response. P'raps fhrx would like to comment that that (he know's his stuff). I've never owned a 33 but by looking at their boots you may like to consider moving the battery + little computer thingy somewhere a bit more out of the way and having a custom enclosure between the suspension tower. (Then you can use a strut brace). Again someone with audio experience who's done 33's might like to comment about the acoustic properties that this setup results in. The other way I could see it happening is with each sub faced slightly diagonal into the car from each corner of the taillight side of the boot. Then changing taillights might be a little difficult. Last way is if you want to lose the spare wheel then p'raps you could do a custom job in there somehow but this will probably result in having a raised floor so you'd lose space that way. Then you might think bout putting in a space saver which could just sit in your boot, this way if you needed to use your boot you can atleast put the space saver in your back seat or something. R33 boots aren't that big :

PS this thread should prolly be moved.

LOL. Running no blow off with any semi-decent amount of boost = buy a new turbo. Flutter that you will hear on turbo VL commos is the built up pressure (air) going back (the wrong way) through the turbo and being 'chopped' by the turbine. Might sound fully sick but really doesn't do very good for your turbo. If you wan't to be a sick habib find a big blow off valve and attach/weld a whistle that you like to it. Then you can have any sound you want because the venting will go through the blow off, then through the whistle. The whistles go wWOooooowoooOO. (and yes.. I'm not joking. If you really want to do this you can do it.)

Hmm can't help with a r33. I'm not too sure what would fit in the front speaker location and what mods/parts would be required. Good luck though

Quick question - I've got a sr20 making about 200rwkw and I haven't upgraded my coil packs (or changed my spark plugs for that matter oops). R33's friend has bought splitfire ignition leads (no coil pack?) without any of the mods I've got (fuel pump, fmic, injectors, re-chip etc). What exactly is the benefit in doing this? Or is it a case of R33's friend having heard splitfire coil packs are good, then not being able to afford them buying the ignition leads instead? No offence to anyone I just don't understand. What would be the advantage of upgrading your coil packs and when would you do this? (is there a power level or symptoms where you can tell your coil packs are holding your reliablity/power/tune down?) Thanks.

Sorry OT but nark what's the landed price for the avcr? Would it be available to us? If so - is it a special Apexi thing or could you get blitz id III's? (or even the blitz whatever R ebc?)

That's an excellent buy. Welcome to better brakes and an extra stud. Thanks JK I've always wondered that.

I tried to post the other day but the damn forum was having troubles. I hate insomniax, I hate renegades even more SB and SH own except last I played people started modding them and doing things like light class only - which in my opinion is a bit of a cop out. DX and CCD are ok but I was never a fan of all the dox maps.. Probably cos I couldn't find any good routes (one thing I was never good at). I used to play as ol dirty bastard most of the time although I've had a few different names when clanned and smurfing/hiding I'll have a look at that but right now I don't have a pc so it'll be a bit difficult. Infact thanks for reminding me I'm going down to have a look at a new laptop now - I should take my tribes cd with me to test haha. Then again I'll ask em to test with halflife or something and see how that plays. Talk soon P.

someonestolecc replied to PranK's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Just out of interest, I had a skylinesaustralia.com one sent with my membership. I'd like to take it off cos of the cop/public attention factor and replace it with a SAU sticker that i've seen some cars have (for people in the know). Where do I get the SAU sticker? -
I don't care who you are crashing sucks so unless you were being a total arsehole about it noone deserves to crash. Good luck with fixing your car.
