  1. If you're asking if I'm situations where I'm going around in circles a lot at low speeds then yes the streets I drive around are like that. I'm thinking perhaps the mech diff is just pushing my cars around them and therefore wearing the outsides of the tyres as it's pushing my car through the corner.
  2. Thanks guys. Chris - Thanks for the reply, My BOV is atmo.... .. ... LANFOH - Thanks for the reply also, free-revving the engine will only show me if it's opening and closing up until 0 pressure, as free-revving won't generate boost. I'd like to know when it's positive pressure (on boost). I'm not having a go at anyone or am I unappreciative for the replies but none of them really address what I'm asking.. I'll rephrase again. I don't know if my BOV is opening or closing when I'm on boost. The noise I hear could be flutter or the BOV blowing off.. I thought it was the BOV blowing off but I took a ride in a rb20det with no BOV and it sounded EXTREMELY similar. So I want to CONFIRM it's not flutter. I think I might stick a party whistle on it so I can confirm it opens when I want to.. unless someone has a better idea..
  3. r32 technically will fit but sticks out/doesn't sit flush with doors. I think someone on this forum has done a c33 swap. Does anyone know if a32 fits?
  4. lol! SICK i hope it gets in that'll be funny.
  5. I'm with totoro. Gaijin isn't specifically derogatory. It's a descriptive word and refers to someone that is a foreigner.. As far as I know it doesn't hold any derogatory context in itself... It's contextually and tonally dependant whether it's used in derogatory fashion, much like the english word "foreigner". I also hate the term japs, i.e. "the japs", "jap cars".. but I recognise most times it's laziness rather than racism. These words aren't comparable in this arguement however as one is culturally inclusive while the other is culturally exclusive.. itself a notable commentary on J-culture
  6. I'd say do it just for the fact the 180 has the stuff you want done to it and you're making money on the r33. I don't think economy should be a factor though - power costs fuel it's simple physics so if it will chug, weather it's 4, 6, 8 or 12 it will still chug! If you had a non turbo silvia then it won't be the same as the 180 because the turbo models got all the good stuff. If it was a non turbo 180 then I'd be weary. Infact I'd budget for a full brake and suspension upgrade if it was. But yeah going back to it it's your choice, you're the one driving. If it was up to me I'd be looking at it from a value proposition. Quite simply, you want to upgrade your stuff.. You can sell your car for more than you bought it for and buy another car that's cheaper in cost with the upgrades done already... And you'll still have money left over. Sounds good to me?
  7. You won't be able to "contest" the defect. You will be able to clear it - just get it engineered and go to the AUVIS. They'll look at the engineers and that will clear the defect. You also have an engineers for next time
  8. Pics when it gets here please JK Where's your article for cefiroz anyway? O_o
  9. Heh - thanks. I'll try to rephrase what I probably didn't explain well enough in my initial post. What I hear could be atmo BOV noise BUT it sounds very close to what my mate's non BOV rb20det sounds like when he takes his foot off the go-pedal. So it could be the BOV or it could be pressure bouncing around my pipes.. I'm just not sure because I've never heard this brand of BOV before. I was thinking of somehow strapping a party whistle to it... hehe... anyone have any more practical ideas?
  10. When you don't have a thermostat your oil cooler always has oil going through it. When it's cold and you're trying to warm your engine up, or when it's just really cold your oil is always getting cooled. You don't want this because your oil can actually be too cold.
  11. If it's the one thats like the one in the pics I think it's great and I'll be getting one so long as it's not stupid expensive. I might even make one
  12. I didn't get a sticker, plate or plackard. As I understand it you don't get plates in NSW (the TIC plates you see in QLD for example). To give people an idea of what gets engineered for $600 I assume every nut and bolt. I paid $350 for mine and had- - engine swap - exhaust - wheels - fuel pump/injectors - gauges - bonnet vents - bodykit - swaybars - suspension - steering wheel - intercooler - air pod - mech diff - turbo etc etc..
  13. Gday, I recently changed from a s15 stock re-circ to a professor sheepdog bov and I'd like to confirm it's blowing off. The reason I ask is because today I took a ride in a mate rb20det with no BOV (stock) and it made a very similar noises to my car after a boost event... so I'm starting to think my BOV is infact too bloody tight and might not be venting at all. The only thing that goes contrary to that is that when I back off my car backfires as if it is running rich, which would suggest it is blowing off just fine. Basically - I don't know if it's working or not.. other than a camera is there a way to confirm if it's venting before I plumb it back? Also - what does the stock sr20/rb20/rb25 re-circ valves start to vent at? I'd like to use this as a yard stick. Thanks.
  14. If you're running a stock turbo the stock blow off (or re-circulator) valve will work just fine. Otherwise if you like the noise stick with the one you have it really doesn't matter.
  15. I find it amusing they want to give more powers to rangers. That's like giving local councils more power...
  16. Thanks for the post up Drew. I'm going to investigate to see if the seller will do a few items for cheaper. I'll confirm about the shape Ando.
  17. ha good on ya Ando. You might want to actually make them links :chairshot
  18. lol - goes to show they pay attention enough to make mention of it
  19. Nice pics Merli thanks for posting them up too - just wondering what camera you're using.. sony?
  20. Thought the name sounded familiar. Forgot your nickname - your subject threw me off. PM sent. Cheers. Thanks mate - first profile on the site!
  21. Thanks everyone. Yes mine is a cefiro too I will measure my height S-Kid but I don't think I'm too low, the wheel don't scrape the guards (although it's very close) and I've had my car raised for engineering and kept it there because I recalled you saying low is slow. If this is the problem I will concentrate on dialling in more camber.. it seems cheaper than buying a kit - tyres aren't much of a worry it wasn't too bad when I was running ridiculous camber. Tyre pressure is 35 or 36 hot I believe.
  22. I've put up a contributor guide/howto. Hope that helps with contributing becuase you all now have access to upload pics and your own articles. Lemme know if you have any questions - the how to will appear on your homepage for you when you login.
