that's my point exactly. vettel once passed massa picked up 2 seconds against the laps he was stuck behind massa. obviously when stuck behind massa his times will mimic massas. once in clear air he showed his pace. my point is, if he was that much faster he should have passed him waaay back, knowing full well that circulating as massas slow-ish pace was killing his race. not waited until massa was completely fked 4 laps from the end. and at that point massa's pace went way out the window. a lot more than 2s of vettel, but that's not relevant.

Twin Plate Orc Thrust Bearing- R32 Gtr
Beer Baron replied to IOWNU's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
it's usually the other way around? the standard bearing snout is too long. when using aftermarket multi plate clutches you need a shorter bearing carrier. btw the bearins are all the same, it's the bearing carrier that needs a longer or shorter snout. -

great score on the rims mate. and good choice of size and offset. -
yep, I've had a suica card for about 4 years now and it is easy. makes you look like less of a noob too instead of pulling out the giant JR pass and showing it to the card you just use the suica card like everyone else.

yes you are wrong. both BOVs are mounted on a common pipe that is attached the outlet pipe of the intercooler. and then they have another Y pipe that joins their outlets and feeds it back to the intake. you can use one, but that BOV will flow much less air than the factory set-up. why not just use the factory twins? they are good. otherwise if you wan Greddy use the type R. it's a much better unit than the cheap type S one you have pictured.

R32 Gtr - Engine Oil Entering Coolant System
Beer Baron replied to OJR32's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
what is the water to oil mixture tap? -
it's a good turbo. keep it on the new RB20. you should be able to get a decent RB20 from a wrecker for $600 or so. the apexi turbos are a good thing. that size is a good match for the 20 too.

What Fuel Pump To Use For Around The 300-350 Kw Mark
Beer Baron replied to iwantagtr's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
yep, no question, nismo pump is the easy winner. it mounts properly in the stock cradle too which is a problem with other pumps. if they are not mounted correctly the pick-up can be too high resulting in fuel starvation. and the nismo pumps are 276 litres per hour, rated at 3bar (ie stock base pressure). -
is he measuring pressure properly? with or without vacuum? at idle the reg is under vacuum. you need to subtract or add boost or vacuum from the reading. easiest way to do that is disconnect the vac line to the reg then test the pressure at idle.

I don't need to see any other times apart from these. vettel was glued to the back of massa. as soon as massa let him past he picked up 2 seconds a lap+. so massa was obviously holding him up was a lot slower than vettel. and isn't that your argument of how vettel drove a great race? that he was held up by a slower ferrari? so yeah. massa was a lot slower, and vettel needed to pass him to make his strategy work. webber made his work. vettel didn't make his work. don't get me wrong, vettel is a great driver. but he drove an ordinary race. and sure with hindsight you can say webbers strategy helped and it worked out. but as I said vettel was given the same strategy as the other front guys apart from rubens (3 stope) and webber (long middle). and like roy said, perhaps they did try to get him away from massa with stops but ferrari just shadowed them. either way he did bugger all to improve things. webber on the other hand did everything necessary to make the most of what he had. you can all say wow vettel was so fast in the last 5 laps. well whoop de doo! he should have made a move and been fast for the last 25 laps. then perhaps he could have got back some positions. he let himself get stuck behind a car that was 2s a lap slower. sure it happens to everyone from time to time, but for it would have been a great drive if he'd done something about it. just sitting there and then saying look at me i'm now 2s quicker in the last 5 laps doesn't do anything for me. he was bloody lucky massa pulled over otherwise it would have been 5th.
-
well if vettel is so bloody good then why couldn't he pass he massively slower ferrari which was basically coasting to save fuel? I can't see how vettel out raced webber. vettel went from 2nd to 4th on the first lap. I don't think that was a strategy call. I'm fairly certain RBR didn't say, "hey vettel drop some spots off the grid mate." webber had a good start, kept it clean and held his spot. vettel got trapped behind massa and did nothing about it. webber nearly got stuck behind alonso and carved him up nicely. then ran away from him. webber and alonso were together on track at that point but mark finished about 20 seconds ahead of sanchez. if he'd pussied out he would have been stuck behind him. vettel only got 4th at all because it was gifted to him by massa who basically pulled over 5 laps from the end. otherwise he would have had a 'well deserved' 5th place to think about from 2nd on the grid. webber drove a great race guys. he was quick at the right times, and sure he had a good 2nd stint, but he took pain for it early on and looked like he was out of the game. no one knows in advance what the best call is going to be. as best I could tell vettel had the prime or safe strategy. he was on the same strategy as all the other main players, webber was the one with what looked to be the dud strategy. but he ran hard at the end of the stint and clawed back that time. give the bloke some credit. vettel was ordinary. he did nothing special all race. he just went backwards from the first moment. webber made his way up for once.

Intercooler Liquid Nitrogen Injection Kit
Beer Baron replied to cm712's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
evo's don't have water injection. they have an intercooler water spray which is very different. it sprays the water mist over the OUTSIDE of the intercooler to reduce the temp of the intercooler which reduces intake temps via the normal heat transfer. water injection (really water/meth injection) sprays a mist of water/meth mix into the inlet AFTER the intercooler and just before the throttle. this guy wants to inject nitrogen into the inside of intercooler. which is a dumb idea. you could spray it over the intercooler but it's still a dumb idea. if you want to spray something over the intercooler then a water mist like the evo set-up (and hundreds of other aftermarket ones) is easy and cheap to do. and costs nothing to fill as it just uses plain water. or if you really want gas then look into the CO2 systems. but again they spray the gas on the outside of the intercooler to reduce it's temp. not inside it. that is just a bad idea. -

someone give brisby a car for dutton. he is a top steerer and kind of handy with sabotage etc too. he has the dough and is heaps talented at driving, having pioneered the reach around gear shit technique. you could all do much worse that Roy for a co-driving team-mate. he will get the result you need or crash trying. don't be shy people. hell you can take my silvia troy if you byo tyres and just tidy up one or two things. seriously. the whole car is only worth 1 weeks pay mate so no fear of smashing it either. -
well my view is that is rubbish. sure it may not be 'involving' to drive at legal speeds on a public road, as you just put around with no fuss. there is no tricky gearshift, no heavy hard to use steering, no skittish handling. just no fuss motoring. I can't say the weight is any issue for street use. and I can't say it has too much technology. on a track however and with the driver aids switched OFF it's very involving and challenging to drive anywhere near it's limit. there is plenty of power oversteer to be had if you get on the gas to hard and too early. and it's plenty fun to slide around a bit. it's brutally fast too. if you want 'involving' to drive. buy a 1983 alfa GTV6. they have no power steering and feel like you need arnie size arms to steer it at low speed. they have an 'interesting' gear shift due to the rear mounted transaxle and long shift linkages. they get a nice tank slapping pendulum effect happening if you can't deal with the oversteer (due to the weight in the rear). they have a great sounding V6 engine, and use far more fuel (and oil) than they should. but they are fun and rewarding to drive on the limit. having said that they are a rubbish car, and on a race track would get spanked by a mild S13 silvia. but you could not say they aren't 'involving'. so if involving is at the top of his list he should be test driving 70s and 80s sports cars instead. if you want a fast, well built, well apointed, fun AND easy to drive powerhouse. then the 35 GTR is a good choice.
-
lol, I left that off the list. didn't want to touch a nerve by mentioning my mint, signed, ex V8 SC, FPR, Glen Seton carbon cobra evolution. the best bit though is the brisby frank-en mount that holds it to the car. it only weighs about 30kg but I love it. thanks brisby. you are a true gentleman. you can drive and bin my cars anytime you need to mate.

nice silvia mate. love the white with the 33 GTR wheels. -
it will be pretty much impossible to lower the stock seat unfortunately. the only way out is aftermarket seat mounted as low as possible.

I know, I really do need to finish it. I added up the parts list and when I saw the total value I thought WTF am I doing? Even if I just sold all the parts I'd have a lot of $$. I knew it was a bad idea to add up the bits! I'll send you a pm about this help offer too! I can do better than a plane ticket and pay you with money. having seen the work on your car mine would be a snack for you. it's pretty simple from here out. I definitely still want to finish it off with me and some help to do it. There is far to much time and money in it already to just hand it over to a workshop somewhere and hope they do it right. I definitely want a steer of your car, but after you've had some fun and a few trackdays in it first. Since it's not an RB it will probably make it through a few trackdays on the original donk too. hehe. I think you will like driving mine. It should be good but very different to yours. It will be pretty lethal on track I hope. With the nice motor, little GT-SS turbos, 25psi and a good tune it should make near 350rwkw and with the GTS4 diffs and close box it will leap out of corners. Lots of nice suspension under it too. ok, now I'm getting back into it. here is a parts list to refresh my memory. all this stuff is here in my garage. just need to screw them together. you may need to read it in two sittings, it's a long list! lol, can't weld plastic to metal steveo! and I wouldn't want to use the shaft weleded as a shifter. gearnobs just screw on my man.. there are a few getting around. snap-on screwdriver handle gear knobs. they even make snap-on screw driver handle keys. so it looks like your starting your car with a screwdriver. and yes the snap-on screwdriver gearknobs and keys are the height of cool! I might grab some next time I see 'em. I'll even buy you one for Christmas steve and we can weld it to your shifter on boxing day. that's the kind of guy I am. -
meguiars non-acid wheel cleaner is tha shit. very good for cleaning you nice forged jap alloys. you'll need to get a bit of elbow grease into it too though if the brake dust is really baked on there.

Recommended Coilovers For Street Drifting?
Beer Baron replied to geraus's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
HAs are pretty poor and also very old. like trent said they stopped making them years ago. so yours would be at least 4 or 5 years old and could be more like 10 years old. also, they are twin tube, not mono-tube. look, if they are in good nick, and your stockers were stuffed then of course they will feel better. but be aware they do like to blow oil seals, especially the macpherson strut models (luckily skylines are not macpherson strut, they have wishbones). I hope you didn't pay much for them. if they were cheap then just enjoy. -
