  1. yep. monaco. awesome place... boring race.... qualifying is about as good as the race.
  2. yeah, the cost of the actual car is a very small expense over time. a set of tyres is $2000+ and you need a few sets each year. a set of brakes is $10K up front then $2K every time for rotors all round and say $1000 for pads. a set of good shocks starts at $8K and if you want some really good gear budget more like $20K and all this stuff becomes necessary to compete when you are running a big powerful GTR. a good cage anywhere from $4K to $10K+ if you want chro-mo. box, $20K for holligner or buy a PPG for say $8K and then spend about $3-$5K per year maintaining in (parts and labour). I think you're on the right track with the GTS and work into it from there. GTRs suck as a track car, but they make you feel like a bad boy when you're driving one, and the sound and feel of one is unique. that and the fact that you can make a $150K R32 GTR track car as quick as a $500K V8 super car and it's on slicks... with that perspective they can be made stupid fast.
  3. no they are not good. but what do you expect...
  4. lol, you're right they are then same. oops.
  5. lol, fark it wasn't me! yeah you are right mate. the yellow tomei R34 along with a couple of other cars was stolen by some lowlifes when it was for sale in aus. I'm not sure how much of the full story is public and I imagine it's a pretty touchy subject but the relevant part here is some stuff was recovered. and of that stuff mark and russ bought some of the bits. not much though. mainly just bonnet, boot and some engine stuff
  6. yeah stick with the stock colour. the white on white is not my favourite...
  7. yep that is the way to go. especially if you are a fat bloke, I mean ample gentleman...
  8. lol @ signature indeed!
  9. meh. TAS is ok. worth doing once I guess. but I'm way over it these days. it's no where near as good as it used to be. and there are heaps better car related events to do and see in japan. and thankfully plenty that aren't on in the peak of winter! (unless you want to go boarding in which case it's perfect). so yeah, I won't be doing TAS, nothing really special on the horizon for it to make me want to go. unless they are putting the 32 GTR back in production with a rear AWD transaxle with 6 speed DSG and a 3.5 litre triple turbo RB26 that revs to 12,000rpm. are they?
  10. yep, it was good to see kimi back up the front and he did actually smile. it was amazing. king oath. I couldn't believe them crapping on about his great win there when he slammed the wall and by gods grace was able to continue. it was a crap mistake and a big bag of luck that got him through that time. this time he got the result most people get at monaco when they like to run walls. ie an early dinner. good to see webber outperform vettel. webber kept his head and was fastest man on track in the mid-late stages of the race. he was putting in fastest lap after fastest lap. still it didn't do much to improve his position, but you'd have to say it was a solid race from 8th to 5th. mckonken must have been on drugs when he was saying mark would get 3rd as they were about to enter the final round of pit stops. I have nfi how he thought that would be possible. go webber, go kimi.
  11. how much more power do you want? and how much more do you reckon the stock motor will take on 98RON with old factory internals? I mean if you can't squeeze any more out of the 517s and you need more power then the 618s are the logical choice really as like you say you can keep all your current intake and exhaust gear.
  12. that's not right. yes there are carbon fibre tail shafts. you can make lots of stuff out of carbon. but for a full 100% carbon composite shaft it would be pretty expensive.
  13. yep it's 3ltr. and was 3ltr at superlap. it's far from quiet though, but it does sound different for sure. most of the engine is from a tomei drag car (yellow 34), but obviously rebuilt. from memory it's a regular nissan rb30 block but mark or russ can confirm that. it should be very good once sorted. i'm currently sussing out some more events for us in japan after the tsukuba time attack. we are looking to get into some of the best motoring style 5 lap tuner battles against other jap tuned pro class GTRs. now that would be something special. also want to run the car at fuji speedway. mark reckons with the right diffs it will pull 300km+++ at fuji and I don't doubt it.
  14. you can see in this pic how small the turbine entry is on an HKS GT-SS turbo. it needs a bit of porting love I think before use.
  15. some pics of the tomei manifold. quite a different collector. but a VERY straight path from exhaust port to turbine. the finish and workmanship on them is amazing and they are using good quality stainless and nice thick walls. these are one of the few stainless mani's i've seen that can take a beating without cracking. got to love jap parts. check out all the stuff they give you with them for fitting. the 3 layer metal exhaust gaskets would be over $100 to buy on their own let alone all the genuine nissan turbo gaskets too. they even include bolt paste and the locking tabs too so your nuts don't fall off.
  16. lol, so every 2nd oil change then... I do it about once every 5 or 6 changes. if that.
  17. this is why paul wrote a power FC FAQ. give him some credit and give it a read.
  18. f**k this is pissing me off! if anyone in sydney can upgrade my native V1.50 PSP to 3.51 or better custom firmware I'd be most gratefull. I've spent hours trying to do it but I give up.
  19. ok, is it possible this doesn't work on V1.50 firmware? if so, how can I get better firmware without doing my head in? I've managed to get devhook and can emulate firmware from 1.50 to 2.50 but is there an easy way to get to like 3.3 or something?
  20. well it should really be just the chassis number. but you can give them the vin if you like. he chassis number is part of the vin.
  21. lol, they are not centre lock hubs.. rofl. it's a plastic cover... lots of wheels have them. and they look a bit ghey to be honest....
  22. yeah you do not need to drain the oil cooler every change. it's too hard unless your cooler has drain plugs fitted. if you do dran it simply remove cas or similar so you can crank the engine without it fiting. then lit it crank until you get oil pressure on the gauge. then your good to go. the twin oil coolers in my RX7 do have drain plugs on them though which is nice, but i've never seen an aftermarket kit that does. and the small amount of old oil in the lines and cooler is not a big problem. especially if you use good oil.
  23. lol, ouch snowman this cats got claws!! unleash the bitch within marlin...
  24. yeah they are blitz, are forged, and are pretty light. not sure if they're the same as your mates. I think his are a different type of blitz wheel that was a bit more popular than the ones I have (had!). they all look good though. Blitz made some great wheels over the years.
  25. those last ones in 17X9 +30 with a set of nice 235/45/17s on them would go very nicely on a 32 GTST. I had that same size and offset on my old black 32 GTST and they sat perfectly flush with the guards and did not rub or touch on anything and looked great. I might grab a set for my silvia. looked like this with 17X9 +30 on a GTST with stock suspension and arms etc. perfect size and offset for them.
