Well as some of you may know Paul dirtgarage has held the world record for a low mount GTR. Now some have suggested rather unkindly that he invented this class of GTR racing himself, but it has captivated the hearts and minds of drag queens the world over. Now there is a new contender for this auspicious title. The R32 GTR of Mark Berry and Russell Newman has this very night run 9.78 @ 140mph at willowbank raceway. Not bad for a circuit car and a bunch of guys who don't really do drag racing. The car of course was just running regular circuit tyres. I think possibly wanli's on the back and mohawk or linglings on the front. In all seriousness the car hasn't been touched since Superlap and of course runs suspension set-up for circuit racing. It's a 2.6litre RB26 running low mount garret turbos and a H pattern gearbox. I'm sure they could go even quicker with some drag radials, drag suitable suspension and some more practice at the strip. Anyway, well done Mark and Russ not bad for a car you guys built in the shed. It really is quite an achievment. and the RH9 sticker is in the mail

same goes for V band clamps. they are only good to join to pieces of alloy or steel pipe since you need to weld the appropriate flanges to the 2 pipes so you can use the V band clamp on it. V band kit: another good example of V band clamps and flanges. they are good for IC piping, and exhaust if you have the time and money to install them.

as far as I know it will be Brent. I haven't checked with hermey 100% but Brent is the one doing all their tuning, and he originally rescheduled to fit it in so brent could be there. -
lol. that is a good one. 100octane is the lowest in japan. I'm sorry mate but that's simply not true. having been to japan many times, and driven cars in a number of different cities (tokyo, osaka, kyushu, chiba, saitama) I can tell you 100octane is pretty much the bees knees. hi-oku blend. regular unleaded there is like 94 octane. good fuel 98 or so, and yes they have hi-oku 100ron fuel too. but no factory car would be tuned un-able to run on 98 or even 96. this myth came about when high performance cars designed to run on 95 or 96 octane fuels were run on fuel in aus that at the time was 90-92 at best. things have come a long way since then and the gap between japanese fuel and australian fuel is not that great.

Where Do I Find Pod Filter Covers?

well the one you posted on it has a url on it. www.gtr.com.au have you tried that link? they sell them, and I would wager they made the one in the pic since it bares their web address. -
there are plenty of companies that make combination washer bottle/catch cans for R33 and 34 GTR. no way to tell where yours is from without pics. to empty it you simlpy unhook the pipes, un bolt it, lift it out and tip it upside down.

dyno jet wont be in action. but if you want to have a run just give envy a call and book it in, I'm sure they could accomodate. they do a fair bit of bike work too. edit: sorry ready your post wrong. thought you were asking about their dyno jet (they have that as well as the DD dyno). but, yeah, answer is still the same, just give them a buzz. -
I bought a japanese PS3 at launch in japan. but in the end I wanted to ensure I could watch aussie dvds and aussie blu-ray, and I wanted to play my old aussie ps2 games too. so in the end I sold the japanese one smartly and bought an aussie 60gb one. I'm happy with it. yeah it costs more, but for me it does more.

will get the dimensions for you Adrian. To the best of my knowledge it is an isuzu 200 sold in japan as a nissan atlas 200. so parts should not be a problem. anyone will be shocked how clean this truck is, it drives like brand new, and you could seriously eat off the undercarriage. in fact looking at isuzu nkr 200 it looks identical. and some net research reveals the atlas is built by isuzu. to get a good idea of the scale of the rear space, that pallet in the pics is a normal full sized pallet and on it is a Nissan RB26 crate motor on it's wooden crate. I would say 4 pallets easy, but probably fit 5 pallets. It also has bars that fit into the groves on the walls to creat partitions. The little alloy runners on the floor can also be easily removed. Has a good flurescent light in the back too. Anyway, here's a lot more pics.

duncan mate, I reckon next time you order a block, instead of getting singles, order a 6 pack! that should last you a season or so.

that would be heaven! rock up, pay your $20 a lap or whatever and go for it. -
guys, this gentlemans use of language and his generally driving attitude may not be to your exact taste, but please keep the abusive posts to yourselves. antoni, just to confirm things. car was fine, drove nicely. you nailed it in 4th, big cloud of smoke. you drove home and parked it. now the car wont start, and has not started since. I know you keep saying the car was fine before but that's not really the point. It's a bit like saying the titanic drove nicely and was watertight before it sank. my advice is either get it to a mechanic or if you know one get a mechanic to come to you. they will be able to diagnose the problem fairly quickly and then you can set to work fixing it. just posting 'my car blew white smoke and now wont start but it used to run great' is only going to have people giving you random guesses at best.

you can get the 4 piston kits in regular 2 pad arrangement too. and rotors are not that bad at about $300 a pop, hats are exxy though about $450 a pop. but your points are valid brisbuddy. no one wants calipers that crack, and limited to PMU pads may be a turn off for some. dj: the pmu calipers I have looked at are radial mount. maybe the street level ones are not? like so: the little 4 pad ones are too. -
sounds like the bathurst event went well. I will have to have a crack one day. such an awesome place.

I didn't know you were doing the nsw supersprints this year? how are you going? I try to get out to most of them but haven't seen anyone I know there from SAU really.

yeah I just had a look and personally I think it's a waste of money. 60 bucks just for them to MAYBE tell you your odo was MAYBE wound back... not good value at all. and you would be rightfully pissed if they sent you back the old 'inconclusive' response they talk about.

well a worn clutch wont cause any problems. a slipping clutch will. as long as it's not slipping you are all good. it will be loaded up in 4th. if you are worried about it, drive up a hill in 5th from say 2500rpm. if it doesn't slip then, it most likely wont on the dyno either. the guys of course will back of if the clutch is slipping. cassbo, providing there is roof clearance landrcuiser should be fine. but I have no idea if there is clearance or not, haven't laid eyes on the dyno room yet. -

having some experience with project mu pads and rotors too, and having talked to lots of knowledgeable people in japan I have no doubt the project mu calipers would live up to expectation. if you find some at a good price I wouldn't hesitate to buy them. project mu make a good range of pads and replacement rotors also so that is comforting too. -
What's The Benefit Of Joining Andra?
Beer Baron replied to 9krpm's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
in an accident crumple is a good thing. modern cars are designed to crumple and even break up on impact. it dissipates and absorbs the impact forces of the crash. in cars like your older all street solid chassis cars those forces are instead transfered through to the driver. and you end up with whiplash, hyper extension, internal injuries and nasty things like steering column through the chest. anyone who thinks the safety of cars has gone backwards from 1975 to now really need to think again. with each generation of modern passenger vehicle we get occupant protection is improved. that is a fact. The difference is like this. Say I have a highly modified nissan silvia and I want to go drifting. All i need is the following to attend practice days and comps: Cams Level 2NS licence (costs $50 per year) + a Cams affiliated club membership (as little as $35 depends on the club) Fire extinguisher ($20) a couple of stickers (blue triangle $2) secondary bonnet restraint $10 That's it. no permanent modifications to my vehicle, and no great expense either and no roll cage. $100 will get me started (providing I already have a helmet, if not allow for that too). For circuit events it's pretty much the same, just swap the L2NS licence for a L2S licence which costs $95 a year. Now, if my silvia is capable of running 10.8 on my drag radials then what is the expense required just to run at the wednesday night meets? My basic understanding is you need an UDL (around $400 odd), approved cage (couple thousand), some safety gear, ballistic blanket etc. You are up for a pretty big expenditure and some of the mods you need to make are pretty much permanent. that is a big outlay for a guy who just wants to accelerate hard in a straight (ish!) line for 10 seconds or so. For guys like that it's hard to see why the costs are so high to compete in what seems (to them) like a comparitively "safe" sport (compared to drifting or circuit racing where you have long straights, higher speeds and corners etc). -
After Compliance
Beer Baron replied to CL11QE's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
actually it costs about $30 and yes you have to pay for it. the process is very simple. after compliance you need to buy your CTP greenslip. since the car has never been registered in NSW you need an establishment greenslip (as it will have no rego, or rego expiry on it). You also need to pick up a copy of it in person. Just buy it over the phone, then go to the closest branch to pick up the print out. you will also need a blueslip (costs about $120). usually the compliance workshop can organise for you the blueslip. once you have the blueslip, rego form (blueslip workshop gives you that), greenslip, orignal invoice, import approval and your money then just go to the RTA. they process the rego, give you the bill (rego, stamp duty, plates fee). now you will most likely get pinned for a random vehicle identity check. yes it is random, there has been a rumour for a while that they do all imports, but I have personally registered cars I've imported and not had to do the identity check. if you get selected for it basically you make an appointment at one of the locations they have, usually it's a month or more waiting time, and in the meantime they wont do your rego. the inspection is just to ensure your car is not a rebirth, or stolen, or VIN change etc. if you are nice the kind RTA employee might give you a interim label and plates so that you can legally drive your car till the inspection can be done. once the inspections done you just go back to the RTA and finish off your rego. -
very funny. even funnier for blitz and doof being the 2nd and 3rd to get pedantic about it being thursday morning not thursday night. it's awesome when someone points something out, then two more people do it as well. you butt pirates. I ought to spank you both. obviously it was news to me. and having scanned the forum and not seen any mention of it I am guessing it's news to a lot of others too. I promise I'll go back to my factory and fire my news monitoring team, and threaten the shit out of the fact checking team too. anyway, I was just curious to find out if anyone knew anything about what exactly happened, any particular cars damaged etc?
