Os Twin Plate R32 Gtr
Beer Baron replied to PHA71L's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
yeah it's a prettty agressive clutch. they are quite noisy too. but as long as you can actually drive you should be almost completely used to just about any clutch in about 2 days. -
Make: Nissan Model: Atlas 200 Milage: 150,000kms (with COMPLETE service history and log books from brand new) Transmission: Manual Colour: White/Silver Location: Sydney nth shore Complied? yes RWC supplied? yes Currently registered? yes Price: $21,900 NOW DROPPPED TO $20,000 Contact: me, by PM or post here. Comments / Modifications: Images: Ok, I bought this truck in Japan as it was super clean and in excellent condition and had just been recently added to the SEVS register. It has 150,000kms on it and has service receipts for services that were carried out EVERY 10,000kms or less. That is pretty rare to get such a complete service history with a car or truck, and it has quite low kms. It's a 4.2litre diesel and has a 5 speed manual transmission. It also has exhaust brake (compression brake) which can be switched on or off. It seats 3 up front and has awesome Air-con and heater. Has power steering too. The truck can take over 2,000kgs of goods. I used it to carry some important parts across from japan to aus. It has an aluminium pantec body and is in great condition, it has closeable vents on both sides, and drainage in the floor. It also has a nice big light in the back. and big lockable doors. It comes with 2 spare tyres (1 front 1 rear) and all the jacks etc. you can fit 4-5 full size pallets in the back. It has alloy rails too. The best bit is it can be driven on a road licence as it's just under the limit for when a heavy vehicle licence is needed and it's easy to drive. oh, it also has one other cool feature, when you reverse as well as the standard reverse beeper it has a japanese ladies voice on loudspeaker that says "the truck is reversing". hehe. plus it will sort out who can drive with a hangover... fatz would have that category sewn up too. oh, and happy to help the cause mate. glad to be a part of it. performing miracles is just another day at the office now.
-
I know i'm like the 10th person to say this. but why won't you just run the MTs all round? you seem to really be set on running MTs on the rear only, or worn 16s all round and just waiting for someone to say 'yeah, that's a good idea'. but it's not a good idea! the guys with the drag interest are saying 16inch MTs all round is the go and I would take their advice.
-
seriously, someone please give fatz a drive. he doesn't charge much, just 1 meat pie and 3 tinnies for lunch and 2 meat pies and 12 tinnies for dinner. for that you get 1 days driving service. he is tops. heaps better than bozzo or lofty even. and if he's driving he can't get into any mischief and can't embarrass me any more than usual. tell the people how good you are fatz. record holder for most dohnuts on the hill before being asked to leave by eastern creek management if I recall correctly... umm, most laps done whilst dragging exhaust. pioneer of the "full sick-o-meter".
-
thanks for embarrasing me ye carnt. last time I take you anywhere fatz. no skids for you buddy.
-
yeah the line is ok. it's definately the fast way through. just straight line the whole thing and hold on. have to commit pretty hard and just hang on. it's nast as hell on the car though.
-
well aaron took it fairly well. I can think of half a dozen folks that wouldn't have been so cool and would have hit back. and not on the track... in the pits. haha. you should see the red faces when two GT3 cup cars come together. kevlar porsche motor sport bumper costs about $8K so a little tap on the bum usually gets a little tap on the face in return... not that I condone that type of thing. I have to go with mr lotus here. following an 'unknown' car and driver that close over the flip-flop is always asking for trouble. there is no room for error there and the braking distance is so different between drivers and cars. with only one real racing line it's a risky business.

Best Trade-off For Power/spool On Rb20
Beer Baron replied to falcon's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
yeah I can back that up. like your car troy, makes boost faily early but feels very breathless down low. the SR on the other hand has similar spool up but feels much meetier down low. so you are right, it's not worth getting too hung up on where it makes boost, look at where it makes power and torque. it should be said though, once up and running your 20 with the TD absolutely spanks the SR with the T518Z. -
Best Trade-off For Power/spool On Rb20
Beer Baron replied to falcon's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Trust T518Z could be worth a look. I have one on my SR20 silvia and I love it. great little turbo. not sure how it would go on the RB20 but it can't be too bad. -
so where was sydney kid and son of. come on, let's get stuck in. I heard paul say that united forklift rentals needed SKs RB30 back for their forklift... any truth to that?
-
dave, i'm running a T518Z on the silvia. great turbo for the SR20. very responsive and making 235kw atw. yeah more boost would be awesome, but the little ol SR would go POP I think!

Correct Torque For Rb26 Crank Bolt
Beer Baron replied to Shaun's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
there will not be many regular impact wrenches that can deliver 500Nm. some people use a special gun with a reduction gear to get the required torque. as for whether or not it's correct, I'm not 100%, but lots of people that I know, who are 'in the know' tell me it is. I do also know I've seen a fair few RB26 balancer bolts come loose, no doubt they were not tightened 'enough'. mine has been one of them. -
Importing Scooters
Beer Baron replied to m3gtr's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
I have some advice....lol. do some research! it's healthy! -
photo of the event I think. and yes, even with that giant cloud he pushed on oblivious towards his pb of a 1:40 lap.

Going To Japan On The 19th
Beer Baron replied to MaXiMuS007's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
bring back some rice snacks, a few cans of chu-hi (lime pls) and some cartons of mild sevens super lights... that's what I would do. -

well I will add my comments to this thing (not that anyone cares I know!). Firstly, WOW. what a great event, Ian and Nathan and anyone else involved should be very proud. It's the kind of thing we have been needing for years. A really big event that brings together workshops and others in the trade, together with motorsport enthusiasts. Stretch, mate your thing looked great and you did amazingly well amongst all those pesky AWD cars which always are goign to go well on the GP circuit. your car was a credit to you mate. Mark and Russ both did amazingly well. Mark has only been to Oran Park once before and the total number of laps he's done could be most likely counted on your fingers and toes. So to be able to steer that car to the 12s is very impressive and it's a credit to Mark and Russ who built that car themselves. Russ's go in the 35 was just awesome too. We only managed to get the speed limit remover done the day before superlap and he was running it pretty much as it came from the factory right down to the (now worn) factory street tyres. So impressive that it runs 17s on streeties and Russ was driving it hard, though if he'd turned down the stereo and switched off the dvd player there may have been a few more seconds in it. johnny, stop looking so sad! your car ran 6th outright mate. no small achievement that one. and next time drive your own bloody car. you know that car as well as anyone and without any disrespect to bozzo I don't really think it would be any slower with you manning the tiller on the poop deck. I will dis-own you if you don't drive in the next one. The Vic guys, Jack, Aaron and Adz you guys did really well. Hats off to you all for making the trip up here and having a red-hot go at it. Aaron, I agree, it's absolute bullshit that middleton ran up the back of you, and had the nerve to suggest it was anyones fault other than his own. The fact that he is supposedly a professional driver makes it even worse. To my mind that 'incident' should have seen him excluded from the days results. Well done to Jeff and Lofty. It must have been some serious fun dave to be able to wind some power into the thing after all these years running in IP the restrictors on. I knew you guys would be near the front as you boys never go into anything half arsed. Now some feedback on the event: Positives: -Great format, I think the classes were good and just minimal tweaking of rules can make it even better - lots of trophies: very important to have lots of trophies for lots of different classes etc. it gives a wide group of people a chance for some recognition - trade involvement: you guys did well to get lots of motorsport and automotive related businesses involved. the more trade stands etc you can get the better. and any type of sponsorship is a winner. it's good for them too as they get to interact with their target market - commentating. I think it's important to have a commentator. I think we also need a big screen (can be just a scree with laptop and projector) somewhere to show current standings to help keep people up to date. negatives: - need more flaggies. For a track like oran park where only small parts are visible from any one vantage point you need at least 4 flaggies. 6 would be preferable. I know they cost money, but it really does need them. - some more pit lane control. I know you guys did try your best and did sweep through moving people on who were not meant to be on the pit wall, but it needs to be enforced more. - competitor control: that bloke in the Queen Street RX7 must be insane. I couldn't believe it when I saw him driving the wrong way up pit lane, even as other cars were coming down the lane off the track. he should have been kicked out then and there. He then tried to deafen everyone in pit lane, then he went out and blew up his car on the straight and proceeded to drive all the way through turns 1-6, then his car stalled coming off the bridge, so what does he do? kicks it back to life and continues putting along puting out the biggest oil cloud I have ever seen. what a muppet. how he could possibly fail to notice that is beyond me. He should have been sent out there with a broom to try and clean up all the bloody oil he left everywhere. or at least fined. I didn't have to guess where he finished in the standings. lol, he got absolutely smashed by a land cruiser...middleton was another case, he should have been excluded for that. contact in a supersprint style event is un-excuseable. I know it was a tough call with the superlap result at the end but hey, someone is always going to feel hard done by so I wouldn't worry about it. Also, perhaps next time run it on a sunday with the saturday as free practice, and scrutineering. that will give the interstate guys a chance to practice and get scrutineering done nice and early.

adam mate, you have absolutely no clue what you are talking about. before you want to get all high and mighty maybe do a bit of research into the subject. for any workshop gaining compliance for the R35 it is a BIG investment. They have to buy a car for starters so there goes $110K. emissions testing were are talking in the tens of thousands again. preparing evidence of compliance for the rest of the car, big dollars again. add to that huge amounts of paperwork and time spent with engineers. Even discounting the car cost, let's say they tip in $100K in time and effort. Now given long waiting lists and short supply in japan, and add to that nissan jp will not sell cars to people specifically for export, and anyone buying an auction car (even one with <300kms) is running a huge risk of it being declared "used" and thus inelligible and it is conceivable that they will only plate 5-10 cars. so the compliance cost needs to reflect that. also, you said: "I go through all the shit of bringing the car in over the course of a year and someone thinks that because its the GTR, they can add 15k to their asking price despite the fact their job isnt any bloody different." what are you talkign about? what shit are you going through to bring in R35s? and who is adding $15K to the asking price? I honestly am stumped!
-
and yep, adam has the right idea on the naked sushi. that's what I want. I hear that prawn one is extra tasty. save that for last I think.
-
they did last november/december when I was there. 10,000 JPY anywhere in japan. I went tokyo-osaka osaka-tokyo, tokyo-kyushu kyushu-tokyo. you buy like a voucher then get your ticket at the airport. maybe it's changed now?

webber is THE man. red bull on the front row, who'd have thunk it. but we all know webber is a champ. looking back over his career it's hard to really believe he hasn't been given a drive at a top team. he deserves it for so many reasons. it will be a top race. webber will be on the podium and koob will make up some good places and get some points.
-
good to see melbourne has secured the GP for a few more years. and I'm surprised they agreed to a 5pm start though. man will we be pissed by the time the race gets underway. it's going to get messy!

V8's To Get Olympic Park Street Circuit
Beer Baron replied to Black Widow's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Yeah just imagine what $30mil could do for either oran park or eastern creek. $30 mil into eastern creek could actually build some nice spectator stands that give a view of more than just 1 corner.
