  1. imho there is no chance of it being a legal conversion. Capacity of motor is too big for car...i think the biggest you can go was a 2.8 Litre motor (or something like that)? Saying that (as discussed in the thread at the top of the forced induction thread) when you buy a new block from Nissan they come blank. This is so you can "transfer" your old engine number to your new block....get the hint? I wouldnt put up with the rb20det gearbox for long. It will last, but id say the torque will kill em fast.
  2. cheers mate, sent u a pm with details.. Good luck with the rest of the stuff. Sorry to hear your car is going too....
  3. is that a 3" cat Roy? Im after one to modify slightly.....
  4. not all the time. My sister had all 4 pulled in the chair. 11 injections later.......
  5. shows if your exhaust temp is too hot/cool...which means engines running lean if its too hot, or other way...if its cool, engines running rich....
  6. Shaun at BoostWorx.....
  7. LOL - yeah...they are more than qualified to do your 100,000 kms service :Bang:
  8. Nice power there Sky30...what head are the cams made for? I was told they dont make rb25de cams....nice specs too Along the same lines Joel was thinking... So these cams should help with the hydraulic pump u seen with the last setup then?
  9. got the intake air temp sensor? Its located on the inlet manifold....
  10. got the gtr air temp sensor? Its located in the inlet manifold....
  11. I rarely rev mine over 5000 rpm....so thats where i call redline Most times i "rev it out" is say 4500 - 5000
  12. That would make sense to me....ive only always hear of rotary engines as mentioned above when regarding their size..... So what are they normally rego'ed as? 4cyl?
  13. everytime someone replies to a thread ive replied in as well, I get numerous emails e.g. - I had 7 emails today from the same thread, from 1 person posting 1 reply. Can someone look at why its sending mulitple emails??
  14. As 180bfj20det said : Yer, but rotary engines flow a HEAP more exhaust gas then a piston motor from my beliefs....hence why they run big exhaust housings...cos they can get those big turbos spooling...unlike a ca18 or sr20. I have heard of an sr20 with a HKS 3037, but it needed a 9,000 rpm limit to get the most out of the turbo....ie a very high rpm drift machine
  15. Good to hear Chris Dont you hate these stupid small problems arising all the time....i go to do one thing on my car, then something lets go, or something else happens.... I had my front tyres replaced the other day for the first time, and it turns out the rim has a crack in it Now i gotta fix all the other problems before i even look at getting me car tuned with the twin system to get the same sort of power you're seeeing now..... Glad to hear your on track.....so.....a bigger turbo later on for you then?
  16. I would also recommend if this is on a budget, dont forget the hidden estras with the build, which can quickly blowout costs....from your list above lets say : 1. rebuilt rb30e bottom end rebuilt with std pistons etc - $1000 (including purchase) 2. rb25de head $750 3. An Rb20det AP Power FC can be gotton for cheap second hand...Cubes got his with HC for $1100 ish....wiring up a rb25 loom adds say $600 on the price of the purchase of the loom + rb25det computer etc..... 4. timing belt - $30 5. extra pulley (tensioner rb30e bearing) - $80 6. Rb20det gearbox - u got one...see how long it lasts...ud be suprised 7.rb20 turbo...$0 (Garrett GT35r will cost $1850 odd + manifold + ext. wastegate) 8. Extreme clutch - i had one with the rb20, now the os twin i got i run in mine feels better on the street than the extreme.... 9. Rb25de lower half of inlet, rb20det upper half (with throttle body), rb20 exhaust manifold. 10. rb20det sump 11. rx7 injectors (dont need a regulator if you upgrade the fuel pump instead....have you yet?) say....$500 + $350 for pump 12. Head gasket - cheaper to buy a VRS kit for the rb25de head - $cant remember...lol... 13. oil pump - rb20det, water pump - rb30e ($80) 14. Bearings - take your pick ....ACL, King, etc......dunno cost 15. Q45 afm - $300 Thats roughly just over $4000 (not including everything above) If you are not doing the work yourself, add installation labour, tuning....you will be close to $10,000 before you "finish" (read bigger turbo) with it..... Any hassles come up (mine for instance wouldnt idle straight away, needed a bigger fuel pump + injectors, and needed a tune) It can be a budget motor, but only if you do most of the work yourself. Dont let me put you off, but think seriously of doing this before spending.....
  17. Isnt the OEM item like $440 ish though, versus the $70 for the aftermarket item? Mines been fine running a os twinplate for nearly 5000 kms...std item n my car only got to 110,000kms (reading by the speedo cluster)
  18. just an o ring. unscrew cable, use screwdiver to unscrew a screw holding a locking tab in place. Then pull out speedo drive.....o ring is just inside.....
  19. 1. redrilling and welding of engine mounts, use rb20det sump. Not hard, just need to look things through. 2. RB30e short motor - $100 ish, and for a freshen up say $900ish. Rb25de head $750ish, dont know cost of rb25 turbo, ecu, loom. Dont forget hidden costs, ie upgraded fuel system. Apparently the std injectors max out in 3rd and 4th when hitting boost.....being rb25 injectors = more cost + fuel pump + afm + all fluids + gasket kit. U need the rb20det oil pump (or buy a newbie - $500ish) rb20det harmonic balancer, rb20det engine number (so you need to keep the old block) rb20 cam covers / coil pack cover (for that std look)
  20. Sorry to hijack, but may be helpful.... Has anyone got the part numbers for the main bearings for an r33 (push clutch- earlier?) I wanna buy the bearings from cbc.... Or any other boxes for that matter would be helpful to anyone....maybe syncros and seals etc?

  22. BITE ME /sarcasm In due time itll be done. Roy....if my old motor hadn't blown, youd be making me regret the larger displacement upgrade........well.............maybe
