  1. so has anyone compared (measured, or dropped a gasket to just check) what the inlet porting differences are from an r32 rb25de head to the r33 rb25det head??
  2. I always have my back up plan....RIPS front facing plenum kit made with the rb25de runners i believe....ala sub zero...but a better design i believe due to the way it tapers to the back....like the greddy one
  3. I was going to go the tried and tested Greddy Front facing plenum, with a q45 throttle body....its just coming up with the cash that stops me
  4. Great thread to read.... SK mine is in the shop now being finished off as we speak. The bigger turbo setup will follow shortly after its run in, and YES, i am trying to get 350 rwkw out of it. (r32 gtst rb31det) Will keep you all posted on the results......Joel can vouch for me
  5. Joke or no joke mate, i take serious offence to comments like that. How would you like it if your motor died after driving it 6000kms? Sure i chose to go for a performance motor, but it was the only way i was going to be happy knowing nothing would stuff up again. Think about what you write mate, cos shit may come back on you one day...
  6. Engine/Car : R32 GTSt RB20DET Type of failure : 2 snapped exhaust valves, piston mashed, head mashed. Factors influencing the failure : Overtightened idler bearing bolt. State of tune to engine : approx 150 rwkw Suspension and tyres : std. Oil used and service interval : Penrite, at 100 000 kms major service by prevvious owner 3000 kms before i bought car. General comments : 9000 kms after 100k service done just driving home from work, car went bang. A roadside mechanic (who happened to just be parked 30 metres away) heard it let go from that distance. Engine took a couple of seconds to wind down (travelling at 40kms at the time) by time i had come to a complete stop, piston had snapped 2 exhaust vavles, and repeatedly hit the debris into head. 1 dead head, and piston No indication that failure was about to happen. Changing down from 4th to third when it let go. Those indentations in the pistons are the valve reliefs (std). The bolt just clean snapped off level with the block. Upon removing the timing covers, there was a rubber type dust inside and the idler bearing had a discolouration (like it was heated up). I dont know exactly what was replace at the 100,000 km service, ut the previous owner said it was the full service. I bought the car at 103,000 kms....at 109,000 kms it let go....6000 kms later New motor is rb31det
  7. it actually rubs the bonnet liner with the old rb20 in there....
  8. Regency (Transport SA) has final say. Engineers reports, ADR tests anything means nothing to them here. If they are unhappy with it, it wont pass. They even defect ADR approved steering wheels, Engineers certificates, and emission tests (which here in Adelaide cost 2k+) And you cannot take them to court, because they are covered by the law itself...
  9. Id say anyhting is possible these days....depends on who their resident inspector is on that day....go for the external gate and say F U REGENCY!!!...if busses and trucks have em...i can too.
  10. The HKS low mount manifold going on mine has provisions for a heat shield. But saying that it still wont stop a nice police man for defecting you for that non std. gear knob. U know, the big safety issue it is With mine....well if you are gunna get pulled over for a bs reason...go the whole hog. But yes bigger turbos were meant for external wastegates....if you wanna do it properly go the external. Im not saying people dont have good results though from an internal wastegate. The new Ford xr6 is a GT35 internal gate i believe...ford must have some trust in them
  11. Usually you have to go interstate for specialty items....just means you are getting a not so common item
  12. yer autosalon wanna be lol...he could have got in too, with the "strict rules" for entering show cars these days...lol But yer ecchh! chrome rimes on a skyline
  13. If you can wait a week or two, mine is getting the engine mounts re drilled. This should be enough so i can refit my Nismo strut brace Hey where is SK in all this?? What do you do to make the motors fit Gary???
  14. Hey i didnt know you went to their last cruise Joel??
  15. That was me Previous owner had 100k servise done and the shop overtightened the idler bearing bolt. BANG! on the way home..... Took off the head and found cylinder number 2 looking like below....2 snapped exhaust valves, and a mashed spark plug..... Replaced motor with RB31DET - new timing belt part # 94407 for conversion = $30
  16. Dont really know for sure, because im not ready to fit my GT35/40R yet Its usually cheaper if you buy the equipment from the supplier, but Tim may be able to get it cheaper if he buys it in bulk....ask him and let me know as well
  17. Buying some more note pads, and pens ready for this time?
  18. you probably will ive got to get the big turbo setup organized, installed and tuned yet....Turbo and manifold should be here in two weeks :D:D
  19. Email Tim Possingham, via www.horsepowerinabox.com. Tell him a mate of Joel referred you to him. Ask him any questions you have, and he will look after you. He can sell and freight parts to you if you decide to buy anything....
  20. Well for this conversion, (to simplify things for others:)) Id thought id clarify it when we say use this top half, or this bottom half But yes....smarty pants goin the right old wasy for a slappin, arn't ya :slap:

  22. I guess Matt and I just have a couple of pretty faces then, eh Steve Oh well, sorry to hear you feel that way Steve. He had 4 cars in the workshop before i dropped mine in, and i had to wait a week or so before i could even get it in there...might have had a small part to do with it. Not making any excuses for him, but he is a busy man atm
