Camshafts, Camshafts And More Camshafts
unique1 replied to N1GTR's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
yes standard buckets and bigger shims from precision shims. the shims are pretty damn thick due to the small base circle so it isnt ideal at all, but it works none the less, but im changing them over just to save a disaster arising after hearing about Public Enemy's dramas. -
what sort of rpm are u gonna spin this motor upto Paul? i assume your running the external oil pump setup too? I also run the similiar cams from what the specs posted on the last page were anyway, and my vacuum is about 6 below the 0 mark on my autometer boost gauge at idle and made for some real bad braking issues.

Camshafts, Camshafts And More Camshafts
unique1 replied to N1GTR's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
i wasnt the person who had issues Dirt it was Public Enemy i think u were thinking of. I run the biggest lift cams Jun make and never had an issue in 2 years+ of over 550rwhp and 8500rpm+, i recently bought a set of Tomei buckets though after hearing of the possible dramas, just to keep my mind at ease. -
under 10k for seq box im in whats the reccomended OH periods on the ppg dog setups? how many km's?
-
for your power goals i think the engine is abit overkill, forgies etc are not really needed, just freshen up the stock block and it should run 300kw pretty easily, and head studs etc not needed either. The common belt everyone seems to use is the Dayco 94407, its about $35 or so, i reckon spending $100+ on other belts isnt needed. If you plan on upgrading turbo later than think about forgies etc but with the 3076r i personally wouldnt bother. my motor i recently did i wish i went straight for the gt3582, the 3076 just doesnt have that throw ya back in the seat feel i was hoping for. just my 2c worth
-
great work Paul, cant wait to see the results its definately got all the goodies wait till u can slam 2nd and 3rd with the dogbox u will love it all that much more what sort of ignition setup have you gone with? the vipec cdi unit and mercury coils, or still running the twin power dli and splitfires?
-
well i bought them for my gtr but tried them on the stagea and now they are gonna stay on it for good car wasnt low enough so i took pic from above so it didnt look so stupid haha, its only got a 235 on the 10' rim too so they could squeeze under the stagea. The tyre doesnt suit the gtr though, 265s are needed on that.
-
great buy, Perth is now the home of the toughest stageas Hopefully Ken still visits the forums on occasions, he has been one of the longest standing stagea owners on the forums.
-
Welcome Aaron, good choice on car, alot of people never seem to understand why i like stageas lol, until u drive/own one you just dont get it Maybe we should start a thread on stagea section with links to stagea parts from japan yahoo auctions I am the guy who bought the lmgt2 rims and top secret r32 gtr coilovers off you recently for a top price, they look great and suit my car well. good luck with the car mate

this is my last car before the stagea... (im sure alot of you have seen pics before) rb26 this is with the stagea rb25 and then the 26 is now in my stagea

lol mitchy is correct, i think i have had more engine combinations than amount of full fuel tanks It was a high km example when i bought it and now its the lowest haha. I havent seen ya personally Elle, i daily drive around in a black gto so im sure u will notice if u see it, there is less of them than stagea around in Perth. -
dont forget timing, alot of shops love a lot of ign timing at top end and think because its running safe afr's it will be fine.
-
haha so rb26/30 and garrett powered by the time i get back ?

hahha thats like 2 min from my house, his comment went something like "she looked good from what i could see", ill have to make my own judgement when i see ya though lol i reckon mid to late march is the best time so everyone can get sorted and 99% of people can actually attend instead of only 50% of them showing up like every other time. my car should be licensed by then too -
talked up the mitsu's everywhere then backs down and gets another nissan, smart move, who made you change your mind ill buy that gtr badge off ya too, i want another 20hp good luck mate hope it goes well, bring it round when ya get it

my stagea is still having trouble passing engineer, i gotta throw the damn twins back on then its through, i am going away to the UK, singapore and Norway from 13th feb to 1st march so anytime after that im keen, ill bring the gto if the stagea isnt ready. Hey Elle do u live in Beldon area by any chance? my mate just mentioned tonight he sees a chick in a white stagea on a regular basis in the area and u have the 6027 postcode which is ocean reef? -

Anyone Running 2860-5 Or 2860-7 Turbos On Rb26?
unique1 replied to unique1's topic in Western Australia
lol i might just get engineer to sign everything off except the turbo and go to pits and see what happens. Even if the car doesnt pass ill throw the twins back on and get it through and then put gt30 back on after and when cops pull me over i show engineer permits for all the other stuff (lots of permits) and i doubt they will sticker it. I gotta try something after getting everything running nicely and finished. Gt35 will be on the cards im sure if single is passable -
Anyone Running 2860-5 Or 2860-7 Turbos On Rb26?

Hey Guilt-Toy, the test i am not 100% sure on the exact details i sort of gave up the idea when the engineer mentioned it lol. He reckons the DPI said as of the 1st of Feb, i will require to do the IM240 (i think thats the name) test, but if i get in before then i only need the 5 gas one, i only got told yesterday arvo so i havent got time. I might try and pass the pits without any mention of the turbo and see what happens, i can always throw the stock twins back on and pass and then put the gt30 back on, i just think its too slow at moment and was thinking recently to swap up to the gt3540 instead, but i havent even sorted this tune yet its all relying on the rego being sorted. I am running an Autronic SMC ecu and stock gtr injectors, stock cams so it shouldnt be that extreme, i got a cat on it too, its not a compliance cat though. This is the qoute from an engineer friend who contacted the DPI about the 5 gas test details.... "alternative to a full IM240 test is a 5gas analysis before and after test (5gas is HC, Co, CO2, 02 & NOx). You would need to find a standard car to test on the dyno at two or three load points then compare with measurements from your modified car. I can't see this being particularly economical, hire of a 5gas analyser, dyno and tuner to get your car to comply would be a headache, not to mention separate hire of a dyno and gas analyser to test the standard vehicle if you can find someone with a standard rb26. That said if you were able to pass these tests then you'd be in a very good position". how hard would that be to tune and pass ? -
Anyone Running 2860-5 Or 2860-7 Turbos On Rb26?
unique1 replied to unique1's topic in Western Australia
Rev210 - its the 0.8 housing Paul the tune is only a quick one (safe for the 150 000km old bottom end) and im trying to get the car over the pits at moment, its not on the good motor either, just a stock internal rb30 bottom end and stock rb26 head, motors not the healthiest lol, needs new rings, but i tried to get through the engineer with the single turbo and he said i need a 5 gas analyser test to pass, dont think its gonna happen, but if i go back to twins then i dont need the test. I have only drivin the gt3076r setup twice (too and from engineers on permits, because car is unregoed). Its running 17psi and a cheap used cat just to pass, also plumbed in screamer too, it should be making 400hp atleast on this boost but i left it safe as im just focusing on passing the rego stuff at moment. I just feel like its on boost at cruising speed which wont help my fuel economy etc, it whistles and makes so much spooling noise under 2000rpm it is abit much for me. I am used to the t04z power/lag so i have a different perception to alot of other people of power/lag haha. Have u swapped the Z for the 3076r? or are u talking about your old engine setup from years ago? i assume your running the 1.0 housing for that power? so its now either the -5's or -7's, and the weight of the car makes under 400hp feel like a slug to be honest, i need atleast 400hp to be slightly happy Im even stuck whether to keep the 3L or go back to the 2.6L bottom end as well. decisions decisions -

Ppg 1st-4th Helical Dog Set
unique1 replied to JadeGTR's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Hey Dave, upshifting is a simple case of revving to normal range for a shift when cruising (say 3000rpm) and put clutch in and wait till revs drop to the correct revs for the next gear (say 1800rpm) and slowly push it in and it will literally just fall into gear. I had trouble in beginning trying to jam it fast but the slower the better if u not revving it out to rpm limit, it works a treat, only the downshifts i sometimes have an issue with, but got used to it in the end. I havent drivin the car with the dogbox for a good 3 months, its going into another car now so no street duties anymore, the neighbours can have some peace from the whining -
Hey i am about to put twin turbos back on my car after a problem with the single turbo conversion and the pits not passing it, now i cant decide between the 2860r - 5's or the -7's. I have a single gt3076r on the car now and its just not got enough power, its only making mid 300hp range though, im hoping for around the 420hp range or so with reasonable boost levels and not too much lag. I dare say the 3076r is too responsive, though it is a 3L bottom end, but im thinking of going back to the complete rb26 engine setup. Now could any perth guys with preferably stock cammed rb26 take me for a 2 min drive to see how the lag is on the 2 different setups. Im mainly interested in the feel of the -5's, i have already been in a car with the -7s (though it was with poncams and built motor). Even a spin in a -7 equipped car with stock cams would be ideal, as i dont want to upgrade cams in near future. I live in the northern suburbs (Joondalup area) but am willing to meet anywhere really, give me a PM if someone can possibly help. cheers
