sorry i didnt mean cheap i meant cheaper than a stroker kit for a 26, which is around $10 000 for crank rods and pistons alone, now thats called not cheap ive done the stroker kit on my 26 and now im gonna do a 26/30 engine as well, so i tend to use cheap in the wrong situations after spending money on the first engine lol

another tough 31 in perth good to see mate, the old 26/30 is a good peice of gear and cheap too for a good setup, im planning one myself soon i got all the stuff just need to decide what i wanna do with it lol you didnt buy the block a couple of weeks ago from another r31 owner did you?

Hey Simon sounds like we have the same ideas, i am so used to the power of the t04z ill be disapointed to go back, but having that extra response for small track work would be bloody awesome. The best bit with staying with max 500hp means the motor only really needs a set of forgies and a stock box will be perfect, saves alot of cash in the long run. I think if alot of the guys on these forums went to car cruises etc theres probably 1 or 2 cars max with 500hp at wheels out in a night, these forums make people think 600hp gtr's are on every second corner street waiting lol

ive been in a gtr with 2860s and it felt abit boring (around 435hp at wheels on 24psi) and i have a hks t04z, its making 560rwhp on 18psi (motor is full house build) and the difference is night and day. I think the 2860s are good for track and for a stock gearbox car, they just dont give me the kick that the t04z does personally, i know its the transition from lag to power but it just doesnt feel as good, i know they are not making same power either but the 2860 car i couldnt even tell when it was coming on boost it was so linear. If u wanna get smashed back in the seat its t04z and track its 2860s or gt3040r single. I agree with nismoid here the t04z is not ideal for a stock gearbox as it will smash it if u plan on using the power at all, i lunched one on my first ever pass down the strip. so if i had my time again i would not go so full on on engine parts and use a gt3040r or 2860 -7s and stock gearbox, this will save u alot of money in the long run and be suitable for all uses. The t04z on small motorkana tracks is useless, boring as hell, but it will be better on larger tracks as its making good power from 4000-8500rpm. remind yourself again and again what u want to use the car for exactly rather than aiming for power figures, its easy to say u want 600hp but then realise a 600hp is pretty useless besides taking mates for spins and making them shit themselves and dyno comps. Drags its ok, but for any track work dont bother unless u got a stroker kit and a dogbox bit of babbling on i know but im just speaking from personal experience

a little offtopic i know but does anyone know the weight of a r33 gtr rim on its own without a tyre? i have some cheap china rims and they are 17x8 with a brand new 235/45/17 tyre and its 22kg and a 17x9 r33 gtr rim and brand new tyre (different tyre brand than the other china rims) and its 22-23kg, seems odd to me? i was always under the impression gtr rims were lightweight? or does the extra 1" width make up the weight difference?

if u were in perth i could sell u a set, i got a full nismo kit and a set of spare nismo sideskirts as well, i dont want any of it now, im more into the dayz kit and some fat rims like yokota13 has done, looks a treat and the kits arnt fibreglass either so they dont shatter if u hit em. the motor pic of yours looks very very clean too, i think some nice rims on the car and it will look even better

when checking there pants you should have said oh its got studs on it, but take them off and u can sit on the car on a serious note the pics and car look great, the front bar is something ive never seen before as well. What kit is it?

the name is Brad, i have a set of nismo sideskirts and they look identical to autech ones from what i can see except the little cut out grille things in the nismo ones.

sorry mate im unsure about where the crack was i was relaying this info from the owner and even he never saw the head, the workshop was doing the work sourced another bare head for $1000 and did all the machine work again for free and fixed it for him.

ok this is from experiences with a freinds rb26 that was very very recently run in from a rebuild and putting alot of oil in the coolant, and i mean alot! his original engine when stock cracked a ringland and overheated apparently, so he got it rebuilt with new internals etc and head recond as well, plus a pressure test (so the shop says anyway), he does 1000km run in, all is fine, then a 400hp+ tune is done and its putting oil in the coolant but the oil in the sump is perfect. They pull the head and im assuming head gasket or something, so they pressure test the head and its ok so they thinking block,etc, well they did another pressure test on the head at higher pressure than the usual test (so the shop says again, unsure if i trust them) and found it had a hairline crack thats opening up under higher boost and causing the oil to leak into the cooling system, but when normal driving its not opening up and therefore the oil in the sump isnt getting any coolant. this is possibly the problem, but u have said the head has been pressure tested so that could rule it out possibly... just my 2c worth good luck

no need to be sorry mate i see those comments about gates belts alot on the forums. i was just stating my experiences with them, i know alot of noisy ones too and even a workshop i used to use said mine was normal when it was whining like crazy, the next time i put it on i did it with a touch less tension and it sounds silent so im happy, ive used 3 gates belts now and they are all quiet so alot is to do with installation i reckon

gates are not noisy if u dont tension them like a banjo string, mine is silent and fine once adjusted correctly, when i first installed it i did it tight and it did make a whineing noise.

trust type r here, i have the heavy spring in it and it never seems to open even on the softest setting, im running 18psi and 560hp at wheels at moment with a t04z

i think u guys need to remove the front driveshaft and rwd it and u will have a heaps more enjoyable time even with under 200rwkw

in for vids mate, sounds great, so are u still running the gtr 5 speed and 4wd front diff in place as per rs four specs yes? just with a removed front shaft to stop the 4wd workin? i would love to give mine a proper go but was worried the front end is too heavy and will tend to understeer alot. I have the power but its not a very smooth transition when sliding ive found, i think im going to change coilovers soon these ones are doing my head in to be honest. abit offtopic i know but do u know which companies make coilovers for the 260rs models still? now get those pics and vids up, i think your stagea is one of the hottest ive seen with such a subtle and a not over the top bodykit like some kits around have u thought about throwing on a rb25 rwd sump and a gtst 5 speed box instead? i noticed when checking specs of the stagea models and the rs four is 1620kg and the rsx with the rwd rb20e only says it weighs 1430kg, thats a huge weight saving, though im unsure how true this weight is

sexy mate love it, im not usually a fan of the bulky looking autech kit but with the dark colour it looks great, i cant say ive ever seen many autechs in any colours other than white.

24u just means n1 parts not the actual engine itself, i have a n1 brake booster and its got 24u on it, and same with other parts too, so 05u means normal gtr parts and 24u is n1, so im thinking n1 attessa ecu or soemthing has been put in the car in the past as a replacement for the dead stock one?

another couple of quick questions for a rb30/26 setup. can u use the rb30 head bolts with the 26 head as the locating pins will keep the head in position wont they? i am only using stock 30 internals and aiming for low 400hp figures so im thinking it should be good enough? im also using a hks drag metal head gasket as well as i have a couple lying around. whats the stock head gasket thickness? these hks ones are 1.2mm is that too thick?
