  1. Dont know if you can physically touch it actually. If you can then theres probably laws to prevent you taking stuff until its gone thru customs etc but who knows. You would definately be able to give a wharfie $50 to grab the wheels for you. Thats how they work. I was gonna say the same thing about that blokes sig
  2. Thats a series 1
  3. Yes you can. If you are importing the car yourself without the use of a customs agent (I know you are im just saying) then you are required to be there when the ship docks or when the car comes off or something. If you are using a customs agent then they attend the dock for you but you can choose to make an appointment with your customs agent to come down. I will be taking a few days off work to see things go smoothly around the time it comes in. All i need now is the B/L and im all set.
  4. Gear whine
  5. Strange, I sent my import approval last week and I got the approval letter today. Thats about 7 working days. This is probably because im bringing the car in under SEVS and the RAWS made the import application for me.
  6. PICS of the Silvia: I have more but not on the website. I have them all in high res up to 3000x2000 if anyone wants more detail.
  7. Hey guys I have some more pics from the day that I took when I showed up late (very late). I missed many of you but still had fun checking out some of the nice GT-R that were there. Photos: http://www.sewid.org/uastrackday-0409/
  8. Where in Sydney can we order the Autoart ones?
  9. The rattle sounds like the exhaust is not attached properly yet. I wouldnt worry about that. Apart from that the car sounds fine.
  10. No, but i think i wouldve had a good experience overall if i did.
  11. I spoke to meisei at length and they seemed very helpful. No-one like that does COD, you might be able to get a COD deal at an import dealer but you're going to pay extra for it.
  12. The best way to avoid losing stuff on the wharf I guess is to get through customs quickly which means be organised before the car lands. The longer the car sits around the more chance the dodgy wharfies are going to get to mess with your ride. I'll let you know how I go and the car will be at the soonest possible SAU NSW cruise so come along. When does your GTR ship?
  13. mmmgtir: hey dude. sad to see the GTI-R go. Im pretty sure I met you at the Mongolian BBQ place in Chatswood one SAU meet. About the shipping, insurance was a bit difficult to source for the entire vehicle. The only insurance I could find was general average insurance. I believe if you want insurance you go with Kiwi line otherwise it costs a lot. The car ships directly to Sydney. The cost is around $750USD. I will have more details once I get the B/L. At this time all I know is that the car has been/is being loaded onto a boat today or tommorrow.
  14. Prestige do not have a regular shipping line, they just deal with buyers in Japan and the buyer deals with the shipping line. The shipping line they use is - whoever they can get. Unless you specifically want Kiwi line or someone else. My car is shipping on NYK Line - i think.
  15. Nah. The car can be stored at the wharf until such time as the import approval arrives.
  16. lwells: I am importing under SEVS and my RAWS has a license to import cars with air-conditioning so I do not need to do either. This is a better avenue to take if you can do it because it costs you less time and effort. If you're using a customs agent, that time and effort equals money and if you're using the "exemption" CGL charge $100 extra. Of course this is probably cheaper than de-gassing and regassing so I would do that if i had to.
  17. lwells: I think the $150 actually goes to them for them organising a bunch of stuff which is fair enough. The other fees are charged to them by customs and they bill it back to you with their part of the fee on-top. I HATE customs.
  18. lwells: I noticed you are going with CGL as well for your customs agent. I am planning on using those guys but i think you have misunderstood their fees (judging by the OCAU post). Their fee may be $150 but every time they do something for you (send a form, attend the docks, pick their nose) they charge you more. The actual fees and charges are more likely to add up to $500 - $600 not including shipping or wharf fees. Here is a list of their fees they sent me when i asked: Professional Charges Customs Clearance $150.00 Customs Entry $25.00 Delivery Order $50.00 Customs Attendance $45.00 Quarantine Attendance $45.00 Customs Examination $55.00 Quarantine Examination $55.00 Quarantine Re-Examination $88.00 Air Conditioning compliance $100.00 The you probably will have to pay for steam cleaning: - $138 for exterior and $50 or so for interior if required Not really a bargain. I've spoken to Schenker as well but they have a flat fee of $2500 for the process excluding wharf fees, shipping, and steam cleaning. This includes de-containerizing though so would be reduced by $300 if your car arrives on a RoRo ship. The point is moot however as even $2200 is way too much.
  19. Yeah theres a few for sale on here for less than 30k, already complied.
  20. I always run Ultimate but will settle for Synergy 8000 if that's all I can find. Optimax has given me less than good results. It's a shame though because it's easy to find where I live but I have to drive 5k's to get Ultimate
  21. I really dislike that front bar. The stock Type-M looks better. Ultimately it's your decision, do what you like and who cares what other people think!

    Earthquake!

Whats the news/forecast on the typhoon? Cant get any info off the Weather Channel, they just keep repeating "Everything is fine in Australia, lets check out the highs around new south wales today".
  23. I know how you feel. Waiting is the worst part. I have a lot of money tied up in a car which i haven't even seen yet! My RAWS applied for Import Approval yesterday so the stopwatch has begun ticking. Car ships on the 20th of September. Guys I would like to know how much things are costing you, little hidden fees and charges that they slip in, especially customs and customs agents fees. So far the little things no-one really tells you about for me are: - The difference between the ACTUAL exchange rate and the BANKS exchange rate - cost me almost $1000 - even after negotiating the best rate they could - Telegraphic Transfer fee - $28 - ok i was ready for that one and 28 bucks aint bad - Import Application fee - $165 for me because i got my RAWS to do it - expensive but not bothered because they saved me the hassle - Stamp duty and solicitors fees - loans above 35k attract stamp duty and your bank must charge you to file the necessary paperwork - $50 + 0.4% of the loan - Didnt bother me as the amount was so minor but was a suprise - Luxury Car Tax - if the price of the car (including FOB price, freight, duty and GST) exceeds $57009 you will be liable for this - its a bastard - MORE Stamp duty - All cars are subject to 3% stamp duty in NSW - but did you know that cars in excess of $45,000 must pay 5% stamp duty on the value in excess of $45,000!!! BASTARDS! This is different in each state, QLD is the best at 2% flat
  24. Sorry to hear it dude. You should be able to get an R34 windscreen from almost any glass place so ring around - yellow pages is your friend.
  25. Dude, the Japanese car auctions have nothing to do with Yahoo auctions and are not internet based. You would be best off looking into the Prestige Motorsport or J-Spec websites for more information. http://www.prestigemotorsport.com.au/ http://www.j-spec.com.au/
