+1 as garrett and HKS are similar; in business practice a garrett turbo cannot outperform a similar HKS version turbo. Would be stupid if you paid more for the exact same product, just with a logo. HKS have altered geometry over the g items. But as most of our cars are streeters, im sticking to garrett especially after reading a thread from a bloke who has a warranty repair from HKS which went sour in contrast to places like gcg etc who can fix em pretty easily right here. BTW i think trust turbos now have a service centre here in the AU, am i right?

Good point, i jst threw out a number but your right as ive been on ebay for years too n have about 179 or so feedback. I prefer to buy from businesses with over 500 or so feedback but private traders have their exceptions.

The oil thread is very good, has a great summary of oil classes. Im a big 8100 xcess fan as i used to use 300v but at 150bux a change every 1000kms was a lil overkill.

I dont know if you will agree with this but my theory with cars is always to choose the best model (or close to) in the range as it is your 'dream' car do you really wanna settle for a basic series 1 r34 GTR when the extra toys in the 01+ models are worth more than the sum of its parts. You could have a series 3 r33 gtr which is the best and final ones to roll off the line or a basic r34 gtr; you will be happy for a little while but once the novelty of owning the car wears off, you will want the better version. I was gonna import a basic one but after reading the forum and thinking long and hard i decided to buy one of the newer ones cos i liked the new interior and the carbon parts. Completely your decision just though id add what i was thinking at the time and what i did. -Johnny

Was kinda hoping they would do redline as well. Does anyone wanna add some info on australian guidelines for labeling on oil? e.g. why motul will say 100% synthetic +ester and why do most of the rest use 'full synthetic'

go the -9 as they flow a little better than the -7's and less lag then the -5's; keep your purchases to garrett as they are easily repaired in australia so there is no need to seek outside help from japan for HKS items.

Check out the l4d website, seems they are having some sort of update coming soon for the campain maps........I think it will happen cos if you check out l4d 2 on youtube, the gameplay is a little too 'bright' n not dark n grainy like the original.

Something about advertising laws like complimentary medications must write 'may' in its description; in oils it must say 100% synthetic like on motul oil bottles, on castrol its 'full' dosent mean it aint a good oil though, just there are better ones for the price you pay.

Hey man, Id hate to see you get an exhaust like a titanium one and wind up with a drone + over legal db levels thats why im keen on you getting the same exhaust as mine; i even have the test sheet (done 5 times) at 87db@5000rpm I had a race cat in before i went for the full test and hit just over 90db; think it was 91db so still close to legal but i put back in a high flow cat for the 87db run. My reply before was that i dont know much about model numbers for r34 gtrs in the fuji range but im more than happy to take a photo of it so maybe some1 could shed some light. Info i can give now is tha it is s/s with a large rear muffler and a mid muffler which fits nicely against the body...hence no scraping and it passes well above 100mm from the ground even with my nismo s-tune suspension Hope that helps man, let me know if u need any more info -Johnny

There was a VL turbo calais sold for 20k in northern suburbs with a genuine 50k on then clock in garaged condition....point being that if i were to buy an r32 gtr or another hardcore gtr fan 45k for an immaculate low km/no accident/clean interior/engine bay model would be hard to pass up especially if its the australian delivered model. same as the falcon; as memory serves me, they were 5k brand new at the time.

Angled exhausts could have been a blue s15 or so as they can leave black lines on the road wth ease as be very fast with a built motor
