  1. Ash, so the cases on here are they clearly the later or do some fall in between? If so, maybe we need a yearly SAU alarm/security day or something, where everyone can get their systems checked out. I still think something can be done against the organised mob type stuff, but I guess I was mostly thinking about the average one, not the rare Vspec with 30k splashed into it cos probably only security guard with a gun would stop that from being stolen mmmm. we need those trunk monkeys or whatever was on those TV ads lol.
  2. Sounds good. Bit expensive though is there a cheaper phone maybe?
  3. Probably less than half that, I'm sure mercury would be doing sponsorship or something
  4. Yes I realise having them in the same places is a problem but we'd not do that. Either which way, the system needs to be designed to rely on speed. ie, within a few minutes of them jacking or towing the car we can get on it and get a bunch of guys calling the police and giving information. I realise there is already alarm systems that do this, but they cost a lot and rely on minimum wage rent-a-cops. Anyway, thanks for the offer Troy we certainly could take you up on that. if we did this, we'd just have install days or something, to keep costs down for everyone, and maintain good standards. i'd expect you or whoever does it would be able to get 4-5 guys and do like 30-50 cars in a couple days. oh, and we ought to come up with some sticker "protected by SAU" or something so that we can develop a rep.
  5. yea the unmarked bikes they've had for a while, thankfully they are a bit easier to avoid hooning, since even a R1 would decimate most skylines im starting to think, similar to my SAU gps tracking thingy idea, that we need to do something similar for this, video cameras or smth.
  6. Well the idea will be a small self-contained cheap system. If we can get something for even $200 then really no one has an excuse. Even those with POS $2000 cars could afford it The 2nd part is the community aspect. Because GPS tracking in itself isn't always going to help, ie when they put it in a shipping container or Faraday cage etc. Anyway lemme talk to them some more see what we can nut out. Will probably need SAU assistance in finding the best location to mount and so on
  7. http://oldcarandtruckpictures.com/PickupTrucks/1945_Chevrolet_UTE_by_Holdens.jpg except it was white. Thanks for the responses, kicking myself that I didn't get the number plate but was too focussed on driving on a dark unlit bumpy road.
  8. So tonight I got baited by a Chevrolet ute, very tinted windows yet sans all the stickers you'd normally see. Definitely undercover cop car. The same happened about 2 years ago, same area, exact same behaviour, except XR6T. Anyway, am wondering what we can do, as his driving was definitely beyond safe and could have caused an accident were I not paying attention. It could have been a hoon, but the driving pattern and tactics are consistent with UC. My initial thoughts are some sort of recording system and then going to police thingy that can do something. Ideas? Oh and I didn't fall for it, in case you were wondering. Not worth getting ticket, and even more important (personally that is), damaging my baby
  9. So having read yet another pair of stolen threads, I'm really starting to think something needs to be done. I don't know what situations these cars were in exactly, but surely something more can be done collectively. I'm thinking some sort of vigil group that can donate time to monitor GPS or some system to track cars when they are stolen, and be able to get police onto it ASAP. I really haven't thought much about this, but surely we could establish some sort of working group or committee or something? I have some fairly knowledgeable 'hacker' type friends who said they can help me with whatever wacky ideas I come up with
  10. do the 3 months. twice i picked the 12 months (one by choice, the other due to stupid vicroads), and ended up with pretty much 2 back to back 6 months. was about 4 months in the prelude till bloody police set me up with a driving without seatbelt..
  11. Hmm OK must have missed that. So damn confusing all the different states having different laws for everything from cars to fingernail length.
  12. Yea for reasons in this thread this is why I'm resisting doing anything to my 32 until I can afford a rebuild. Good result, anything over 250kw is a bucket of fun
  13. Get it engineered then its all legal. For the intake plenum you'd just have to make sure the tune is correct, as GTRR34 says because the AF is different. Do all your intake mods at once before doing the engineers though, as it will be expensive.
  14. Cool that might be difficult have a sub and such in there. Can you get at it any other way?
  15. So about every 8-10th time I start the GTR, the 4wd light comes on about 5 seconds later. If I turn off and start again, it goes off and stays off. Will be taking to mechanic for a service + brakes replace/check and this as well, wondering if SAU knows what it could be I'm guessing perhaps due to cold (where I am is pretty cold, and often I don't start the car for a couple days), or perhaps low fluid, or some electrical relay.
  16. Mmmmm, beanillionaires Well sounds like the thread has done its course, good luck OP with the car
  17. Fujitsumo -> hmmm I pictured a sumo wrestler made out of exhaust parts >_>
  18. Mmmmmm, magic beans enlarger (think i lost a word? >_>) What are the plates the engineering shops use? Because from what I've seen those are legal for uncomplied. Or perhaps that is because they are the official RTA/vicroads/etc recognised places?
  19. As in, *most* skylines in AU will have been wound back.
  20. Just get GCG to rebuild and hiflow it. Stock so no problems with cops etc, and will handle all the boost you throw at a stock engine. I realise you say you don't want to waste rego and wait while its sent away, but a rebuild will only take <2 weeks, which is how long it will take you to uhm and arr over what turbo to get and then find the money. Rebuilds are cheap, new (or even used) aren't and if something is mismatched you'll have even more downtime.
  21. Yea maybe not genuine, in fact probably not. But if most of them aren't genuine, then theres nothing to worry about. all the assumptions and posts on here will have been made for non-genuine GTR (or any skyline really) KMs too.. so safety in numbers and yea i'm happy, its a GTR I hope OP finds a good car and looks after it, cos they'll certainly be getting rare the real genuine lower KM well looked after R32s
  22. It isn't a 'recent' law, but perhaps not well known until recently. Indeed you either need dealer/trade/complier/engineers plate on the car, or have it towed.
  23. Oh they might not be. But the timing belt hasn't been changed, and its still in really good condition so can't be much past 30kkm wound back. Who cares anyway, only paid 11.500 for it Sounds like OPs 25k might just get a sub 100kkm then.
  24. Can just picture some 4" granny behind a chopper LOL that'd be so lulz I wonder if she could even reach all the stuff >_>
  25. Lasting 600kms sounds about right. Mine lasted about 2500km on my prelude before it started to get lower and lower to the floor. Could also be a leak in the slave (which was also the case for mine, hence the air getting in maybe?).
