  1. Well they use RWD because the engine is in the front, and too difficult to fit such massive wheels on the front where the power would be going. You can't argue they picked RWD over FWD, it just happens that mechanically it doesn't make sense any other way. Anyhoo, GTR will decimate with equal LOW-MEDIUM skill drivers, GTT probably win if you are both highly skilled because the power will go down better. Nice build too, certainly much better value for money than say $30k for a N1 crate engine, though resell will surely be less
  2. Hey what did the airbox go for?
  3. Revtune apparently do good work.
  4. Further to knock levels and such, as a car gets older especially if it gets out of tune, you might need to increase the octane of the fuel. For example 93 to 95, or 95 to 98. Not so applicable to Skylines, but other 'sports' cars have this problem. Anyway, a good $200 tune should fix that, but just bear in mind you can't always use the fuel in the manual/theory, as reality is different.
  5. Make sure they use a reliable shipper that has good customer support, otherwise you could wait months for it to arrive if it gets held up in customs.
  6. I'll take the airbox, postage to 3088 VIC?
  7. Yea I'm too interested in the split and front pipes, hows $500 + postage 3088 sound?
  8. Well I'm getting the car checked out next Friday by my mechanic, if he suggests replacing the radiator I'll grab yours
  9. Hi do you have the factory airbox? Secondly, what are the specs of the radiator?
  10. Cool will do. I had a look and there is a bunch of stuff you can move around, I'm guessing the switch is really some sort of latch? And, is it in the lid or the frame part of the latch?
  11. Sounds perfect Did you just get em via a Nissan parts dealer or.. ?
  12. Stock intercooler piping (and the intercooler itself) is fine, certainly not cost effective to change at this stage. Depending on the condition of the intercooler though as I said you might want to replace it. Get a 044 the cheapest 'stock' option, you could do it yourself even. Make sure you get your mechanic/tuner to check the condition of the injectors, plugs, and ignition. If any of them are old or heading down, replace them to avoid problems down the track. Anything over 550cc is fine, similarly any plugs really but if you want to last get something like NGK (get them properly gapped etc), similarly splitfire coils are a good 'stock' option. Definitely get the cam gears over a new FMIC or anything else really, they are probably the simplest and most cost effective upgrade you can do outside of exhaust and more boost.
  13. As long as it is still 'solid' you'll be fine. My 32 GTR is almost as bad as that, need to look at a new one <_<
  14. @llusions lol I've done the same thing. I realised after putting about 20L in, so just stopped and picked up the 98 and waited for the staff to unlock. You'll be fine running even 91 as long as it is in low ratio, ie 10L out of 60L tank, with the rest being 98 but not recommended. A friend in the country says he carries around a bottle of octane booster, for if he's ever stuck with only 91/95 at a station. Obviously you don't want to do it for long, but as long as the knock is minimal you'll be fine. Brand wise, they all use the same refineries so really doesn't matter.
  15. Glue? Seriously, I am guessing you are using the 20yr old clips? They are probably getting old and bent just enough that with their weakened metal they don't hold. Personally I'd look at just glueing a couple bracket things to either side and both bits, then just use 2 bolt + nuts + washer.
  16. So it seems like the boot release doesn't work properly, I'm not sure whether it is the connections, or the latch thing itself. Anyway, it opens fine with the key, and the seller said something about needing to replace a bit, but he wasn't sure so I ignored that part. When I pull it, it feels really weak, almost like the other end isn't attached, and it also seems to be coming off the floor/sidewall. Anyway, should I just get general mechanic to look at it, or.. ?
  17. I bought a 32 GTR on Tuesday for 11.5k, bargain at 83kkm and stock besides the pods mines ecu and exhaust, but he wanted it gone. Justcars think it is way below market price of 17k, so going to assesor on monday to increase the agreed from 11.5 to 17 or so Anyway, moral of the story, it is always difficult to compare one car with another, hence the huge range in price. And it does depend a lot on the seller and buyer what it eventually goes for. But, there is definitely a lot more skylines around than say 5 years ago, so the price drop is definitely going to be more.
  18. Here is what I suggest: Ship to Melbourne Get a trailer and rent a car to get it on the ferry thing from Melb to ... Launceston? Anyway the city at the top of Tassie >_> Then drive down to Hobart. You should be able to make it in a day, and car rental places should allow dropoff in Hobart. Barring that, just give TNT a call they ship whatever you want, friend had his 1JZ sent from Bris to Melb for something like $450 on a pallet. Presumably they can rent you a shipping container to stick it in, but make sure they don't use a forklift or else bye bye underside rails etc.
  19. I think the most viable way of going forward is along the same lines as a group buy. IE, you get 10 blokes with stuff to do, then just rent out the shop for the day and they can do as much/little as they want in that time, but come next morning at 8am all the cars had better be gone. That way you'll A) have more people around to do things/help if shit goes south, B) a baseline income so no worrying about consistency, C) something else probably. Anyway, if you had 4 hoists that'd give everyone at least 2 hours up on one, which should be ample enough. Insurance and such of course is another issue, but I'd think a standard waiver would hold.
  20. Depending on what is blown, you might be better off getting GCG to rebuild and hi-flow it, than getting another stocker which could blow any time.
  21. Thanks Tony, PM or you can email thelen.shar _AT_ gmail.com any time
