  1. probably mine, lol, we probably all desperately PM poor disco for advice.. poor chap
  2. whats the progress son?
  3. lol thats a fairly useless topic isnt it..
  4. the stock front pipe has a press in lip for the stock dump, there is no gasket. AFAIK you cannot use the stock front pipe with a aftermarket dump, so i think if you buy a 3" frontpipe too and a gasket ull be fine.
  5. lol if you tell them you want one thats not gated at all you are guaranteed not to have any screw up on which one you get hahaha edit: looking at their site, they list the 3076 non gated version with a .70 cover, you would want the .60 surge slotted cover. its probably best to order this thing from GCG so you can tell them face to face specifically what you want OR if you really want to use HPIAB then try ring them direct and explain the specs u want.
  6. beaugus where are you located? i wouldnt mind taking a look at it
  7. any further indication to where abouts on the passenger side?
  8. you can actually buy the real gt3076r from hpinabox http://horsepowerinabox.com/HPIAB2/prod641.htm just dont get the RB specific one and when you purchase this, you need to specify .82 in the drop down box as "other" you would probably also want to inform them specifically what you want by way of email. alternatively you could just call GCG and say you want a GT3076R with an internally gated 5 bolt garrett housing. they will know exactly what your asking for.
  9. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Rb...yno-t55845.html absolutely everything you want to know, real world results, 30+ pages of it. get cracking.
  10. round and round in cicles i go lol, last night i was almost sure a 3071 will be the goods for me.. now this talk of gt37 comps with 60mm turbines not being a good combo makes me doubt the whole thing all over again... ARGH disco, why do you do it
  11. man that kicks in late.... the power is there but its soo late.... seriously try the VCT asap, that seems more fundamental than the cat tho.. even tho the cat might be holding it back abit, for the thing to have nothing till after 5 is pretty rough.. if you havent started stripping it off already try the VCT man
  12. point taken, now to remember how to identify the "real" 3071r from what i can see the 3071 with the .5 front cover doesnt foul the manifold am i wrong?
  13. 10k doesnt go far, especially when ur handy rather than totally competent. Not having a stab just being honest. put another head on it and get back to doing good valuable bolt ons with ur 10k
  14. doo eet. all u need to do is unplug the solenoid and drive it. if theres no difference then theres a problem.
  15. MHI has the answer nothing spools worse than a EJ20 lol, use a TD04L off that otherwise i have some light diesel trash in my garage you may like one has a t3 flange and a wastegate and is BNEW! WTF BBQ. actually i have an interesting theory i shall PM you
  16. What i dont understand is, how can the AVO be used for both GT30 and standard turbo application? there are clearly issues when using housings the same dimensions as the stock one on a GT30, so is this AVO housing not going to be one in the same? Is there something im missing? where they make one for a stock skyline and one for a GT30 suit skyline? the pdf doesnt seem to specify that information, yet rather says the one is for both. I have a feeling that the AVO wont house the GT30 wheel as best as it could, and may see the wheel sticking out the back of the port on the exit... effectively blocking part of the wheel itself. if im wrong, and they are a good option for the GT30 based CHRA, i think an awesome turbo could be built using this housing... something along the lines of a AVO + a non port shrouded 2.75 inlet front cover over a 3076 52t could be used to create a BS responsive 270kw package.. and in true bolt on form (less the lines) hmm ideas ideas ideas
  17. i see your point adriano. justin, i know disconnecting the VCT will make it slower but the point of the test is to see if the VCT is even working... if you disconnect the plug and it drives exactly the same, uv found a major contributor to the problem also, going around the block for 1 little squirt in 2nd from a low speed just to see how boost builds wont get you in TOOOOO much trouble. just dont over do it.
  18. HMMM.......................................... vct he says aye.. try unplugging the vct solenoid and going for a drive?
  19. take the cas off, take a coil out leaving it plugged in, whack an old spark plug into the coil and rest it against the intake manifold. turn the key to on but dont crank it, now come back to the cas and spin it in any direction.. that plug should start sparking. if not, try another cas. the cas should spin very freely, if its stiff, its rooted. do this and report back.
  20. in theory, yes. but we arent talking half the map worth of load dropping off, if the tune is good it would be lucky to lean out anywhere near whats called dangerous. plus its only for a squirt, ud want to re dyno it after u fix the problem anyhow.
  21. venting the gate to atmo wont help, but try unbolting from before the cat... it really could be the answer. as stated they have a 2.5" internal diameter, the car i mentioned earlier was only out by a few mm not half an inch lol
  22. stao would you be able to hiflow a 2IU to HKS GTRS or 2835 spec? I would be interested to know if its possible also to do a hiflow with 3076 internals and a matching front housing size that would perform similarly as well... is it possible to modify the RB rear housing in a way that is as effective as the original garrett IW housing in this scenario? in a way that does not require cropping of the exhaust wheel and that does not have the exhaust wheel pertruding out the rear port of the turbo (therefore blocked by the housing) it would be great if you could clear these up for me Stao, thanks
  23. what makes you think it will lean out by unbolting the exhaust from before the cat? id love to know
  24. drop the exhaust before the cat and go for a drive, other than noise i dont see it being a problem.. not like theres a cat in there anyway lol
