  1. change the cat, you wouldnt believe the shit ive seen mates go thru trying to tune well built cars with a cheap cat that had a 3mm smaller ID than the rest of the exhaust.... 2-400 bucks on a proper cat and birth to the monster within
  2. you have well and truly established the problem is wiring. make sure youve pinned it right again, try swapping them again ETC. then check for continuity to earth, there might be a cut in the harness somewhere.. find it.. kill it.. kill it with fire (read solder and tape) dont stress, you have done well so far and are close to the fix.
  3. Thank you Paul, a flaming now well justified. Now let us all rejoice in the knowledge of the backspin!
  4. OK politically correct, myth bust us and tell everyone what the zututu noise is then. I have no solid knowledge of what it is, but its bad and may as well be the turbo spinning backwards for all it matters.
  5. can confirm that with HKS SSQ and bnew BLITZ super sound VD 2009 model bovs (two of each) on a GTR 32 there is excessive backspin no matter the spring preload. stock is good mmkay
  6. being a ball bearing turbo it does require a restrictor in the oil feed line. the line itself should only have a pin hole for oil feed, this acts as the restrictor. if it had a hole the size of the hose running thru it ur looking at premature bearing failure from poor lubrication.
  7. im assuming the wrong speedo sensor was used in the conversion. perhaps your mechanic swapped the speedo sensor from your auto over not considering the ecu was changing also. OR maybe the manual parts came from another car and ur stagea motor was originally auto? make sure you fill us in with this info for future search value.
  8. click search > type "gtr stalling" > press GO = http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/se...te=gtr+stalling just look at the title of almost every single response lol. somewhere in there, with some further diagnosis of your own, lies your answer.
  9. dont forget to block the vac line u disconnect LOL
  10. lol id be spewing too if that happened.. but its a risk you may have to take. Have you considered going for a tighter spring in the gate? I would have chosen a branded 44mm with a spring set close to target boost. the exh cam gear will help, in theory it will bring on boost more suddenly rather than a progressive spool. so it will probably start spooling in around the same place but hit full boost quicker. either way, the results thread will show you that building boost and power are not the same... hiflows and stocks are the quickest to build boost yet have the weakest midrange, which is what wins the races. if your making power ontime and the car is not sluggish then its not too big a deal.. yet experiment with the gate before you spend any big money.
  11. +1 the results are all there, enough nonsense lowrb, im tempted to say the exhaust housing and gate combo are holding you back. While the cheap gate is probably robing you of spool the small housing is probably not promoting flow when you need it either. to keep costs down, id consider getting stao to mate up a bigger housing with an internal gate and supply you with a hi pressure actuator. alternatively if you want to stay ex gated i would seriously consider getting a good one, perhaps even a slightly smaller one. edit: the exh cam gear retarded 3-4 degrees is a proven method also. find it in the forced induction quick ref guide
  12. +1 AFM, ecu is in limp mode and AFM is usual cause. Clean with alcohol based material first, then WD as a future inhibitor. you may want to clean the circuit inside, be careful not to break anything in it, and DO NOT spray WD on the element it uses to measure airflow.
  13. lesson 1: fwd pwns all lesson 2: rare rwd clios pwn their drivers +1 GTI > R32 that is all
  14. Sorry for the hijack, yet this may proove valuable anyhow. I always ruled tirerack out as its a US site and assumed shipping would be more than the cost of the rubber itself. Can you give an indication of what shipping is worth from them?
  15. just try it.... and check the harness as stated above. dont bang the thing like ur trying to break it, just give it a relevant shunt like a good bump on the road would. and try shaking the harness etc. like paul said its something major, not an accessory based item
  16. its interesting, id love someone to clarify the static CR of a 30e with a 25 head. i was under the impression it will be lower than the standard CR of the 30e, and that confuses me when looking to buy pistons to suit the 30e bottom end... if their 9:1, will the static CR still be 9:1 with the 25 head? and what of DE to DET heads.. all very interesting
  17. bang things, thats how i found my problem. was all very similar, then i realised slamming the door set it off, would stall. i kept banging things till i found it to be the ecu. one tap on it would make the car cut out momentarily, just like yours. in my excitement that i had found the problem i banged it a few times too many till it didnt want to come back on lol. problems sorted now, so i suggest you bang your ecu with your hand and see what happens lol. minor bumps in the road could be setting it off just like mine.
  18. have a mate running the single solenoid job in his GTR32, runs great and totally fixed all boost problems previously felt with a HKS controller. another mate running a gizmo on a 1JZ TT, seems OK but keeps altering its settings on its own (its meant to) gets annoying when it suddenly starts spiking after a couple of weeks. blitz has 4 tunable profiles, you can set it up for all out boost, most drivable boost, rain settings etc.. its very good to program and has excellent non-bs functions. my moneys on that
  19. turbo exhaust housing is cast iron, correct
  20. for 200, its a steal. just do it
  21. traul the forums for brissy folk looking to do a manual conversion mate, i bet youll find one or a dozen a good weekend with plenty of beer and uz will get both cars done and cash your way, thats a given GL
  22. just like mine, perfect fitment for no scrub stock bodied all out track action and good sized rubber GL
  23. as long as its a similar capacity and fits the sandwich plate properly thats fine.
