R33 Race Car Spring Rates.
Roy replied to tarmac's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
If you are running 16 x 6" re-treads then 4F & 2R woudl do the job. If running good road tyres then 4F & 2R may be ok. If you are running good quality shocks (what brand is the 52mm monotube shock) and semi slicks then ?????, if you are running slicks???? I think you are better of being softer then harder especially if its rwd. Without knowing if the car is full weigh, lightened. GTS or GTR, tyres it is running. What sort of events etc then you cant really expect to get good feddback. If you can answer then someone may be able to help...lol not me but someone -
Whish is what exactly? Its an R32 but with what done to it?

What Is The Best Turbo For 300rwhp With Minimal Lag?
Roy replied to fubar's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Well at 230rwkws with std radiator and a 19 row oil cooler i can get about 4 laps out of it before the water gets over 95 and oil nudges 100 deg C. I stop at that level because its a std motor. But as soon as i wind 19psi and 260rwkws into it i can only get around two laps out my car at full noise and 8,000rpm. Of course if i run a tad lower boost and only use 6,800rpm por so instead of 8,000rpm then i can circulate pretty comfortable on the std radiator. So, borderline and ruins the fun as you can get into a rhythem and work up to a lap, but still fun. I have shrouded up the std radiator so any air through the front bar has to go through the intercooler and the radiator. I have new electirc thermo fans, low temp thermostat, and tossing up between a PWR or Race Radiator setup to go with my Billion thermo controller. But yeh, lots of agro for a lousy 50hp, woudl probably be quicker doing more consitant laps at lower boost with more running then winding it up boost and revs wise and being messy -
What Is The Best Turbo For 300rwhp With Minimal Lag?
Roy replied to fubar's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I dont get it, what is so funny about wanting 300hp? If you are driving your car hard, then 300hp most likely means less oil temp, less water temp, less strain on the engine internals. It also means less stress on clutch, diff, gearobx and driveshafts. It means less fuel used at the track, less torched tyres... If you are into sliding nad fun then a solid 300hp out of a rwd car is plenty of fun, you cam do it easily with worst case cheap used GTR injectors and fuel rail etc etc. It makes no sense to go and ake 450hp and forever be chasing cooling issues at the track etc etc 300rwhp is lots of power, its probably as much/more then a 996 GT3. Which at 1400kgs odd is not a slow car -

I think it would be great if you setup a frame job, i would not be surprised if the lazy ACA journo wouldnt even bother investigating... oh, and get mods to delete my posts if i ruined the fun Sorry, wasnt really thinking -
Up until 2hrs ago i was officially finishing up my project on the 15th May. As I long suspected it has been extended so now know for certain that I cant even attend. Probably for the best, spectating whilst awesome would have just driven me crazy for A) not driving and B) owning a POS compromised road-track car

What Is The Best Turbo For 300rwhp With Minimal Lag?
Roy replied to fubar's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
The best answer is an alloy 7 Litre Chev But since you are rebuilding the NEO i say HKS 2530Kai. Friend has one on his R33 with 256cams, and Greddy plenum (which i dont think did anything on his setup, std gear woudl be fine) and made 230rwkws and was as if not more responsive then std. Boost dropped off at high rpm but the low to midrange was amazing. Also, with std turbo if you are spinning 3rd gear then there is more to be sorted in the suspension, alignment and tyres -
What are you doing Jesus! Wind the window down and do the big palm/fend to protect the car. Its like the Secret Service, you sign up to Nav you are committing to putting your life before the cars and drivers

Shame for Glenney and Ayres, as they were both doing so well...but imagine it helps Snowie and Jesus!

LOL...this is funny. Bloody hoons. Put it on Current Affair and give them a good roasting... ONLY... i smell something fishy! Ok, to clarify ...was it night or morning. I need to know to sharpen my hypothesis I wasnt even in the country at the time and I think i know what was going on Last time i was up there, all the signage isnt there unless there is an event on / or about to be run/has just been run. Me thinks someone got to do laps before the start (or was it after) of the recent 12hour? If i remember it was wet! LOL, if i am right i bags a steer of the R33 -
If you are brave guy then its easy to fix yourself. Jus post in the Wanted to buy section an add asking for a standard from ront left castor rod for an R34GTT. Its 3 bolts and easy to change over. BUT, i suggest you take it a professional so they can check all the other arms and ensure nothing else is bent

Cool, I was just curious as i kind of disagree with the numbers you were saying re costs for pipeline. Been years since i have done oil/gas work, but woudl have thought it would be cheaper then desal by a long way! Perhaps i am wrong

I am with the other guys, I am all for robbing guys with too much talent of some time here and there....keeps them honest But, sucks if what i understand is actually true! Surely common sense will prevail and you will get your original time reinstated

Moonface Super Lap Ride Height Up Block Spacers
Roy replied to R TUNE's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Cheap and easy way of raising the ride heign of your car. Just throw it on top of the shock body and bolt the shock back into the car. Dont see the point myself, unless you are the fiddling type with non height adjustable shocks and you want to go uber low to normal for some reason regularly -
OOOhhhh, GT cars make me go all funny! Which reminds me, i am a GTR hater They build this monster of a thing, which i admit the shape does grow on you...but then to go race it they build the car they shoudl have in the first place!!!! RWD V8

So I am 33years old and recently threw out lots of old mags thati had collected from when i was about 12. I couldnt help but smile at some of the cool cars from the late 80s and early 90s from teh Sydney scene. Cars that spring to mind are: - War-300, mint gold RX3 with Simmons that did well in the Go-Whoa at Summernats one year. - RIPS , Supercharged blue RX-2 - GHOST, neat black VP Commodore with twin throttle setup off a VN Grp A that made good power for its day Its amazing how quickly cars changed in the 90s, with cars like ITSMAD and the cheap turbocharged Nissans and GSR Lancers with early WRXs. I still want a neat RX-2 coupe, PIGB8 was cool except for the yellow highlights. So, any other cars that people remember from around Sydney, or from other states?
-
Old cars are cool. New cars are mostly all wank and outragously expensive! I will be keeping my lil R32 GTSt, and in years to come it will sit next to an R31, a 68 Camaro and probably a Sierra Cossie!

Anything sub 2 mins on your first visit is impressive, especially on street tyres

I know a lot of NSW police and its sad to read that it seems to be a problem in both states. Bosses that dont back you, every court appearances turns into a "my client is being victimised by police" etc. It is a tough job, which it seems politicians are making harder. A quick story, a friend was on the radio with Alan Jones as at the time he was the Youth Liason officer for his patrol. Alan Jones made the comment, clip the disrespectful buggers accross the ear, in my day we feared the police etc" My friend replied, "Well Alan, its a different time with different attitudes. People have no cause to fear the police and should not fear the police. We should be approachable and seen to enjoy a good relationship with the wider community. The public should fear the courts and the wrath of what judegements passed if found guilty based on the evidence presented by the PP" ... or words to that affect. Police are the punching bags for the communities mistrust of government and legislation...the most common contact law abiding people have with the Police is traffic infringements...so sours the whole relationship with the community as the fines are so punitive for relatively harmless offences. Stupid isnt it! The badge on your car means you are more likely to have to spend your working day in lines pushing paper work on the assumption of guilt! Thats where NSW has it right with the RTA. Annual road worthys mean that the police do not turn into road worthiness experts. They are trained in law enforcement, not mechanics! Silly legislation!
