Next job for you is to make the cylinder sleeves integral with the head, and use oil pressure or cam to lift the head off the block a couple of thou with revs and boost. Run 11:1 off boost and as revs/boost increases drop it down to 7.5:1 You can do it, easy! This engine is almost as cool as your Bug

Go the afternoon roast! .... So you were not surprised that at such a low speed track where to do the lap times you are, about (127km/h average speed) you saw such an improvement from a wing? Fair point about pedestrian injury etc, but this thing has undertrays, blah, blah blah, i had assumed that the std wing would have been doing a great job to bang around the Ring in the time it does...to the point i wouldnt have expected it to make much difference at Wakefield (the goat track it is) So since you already know i am a cock bag i will ask is the data overlay from the other car, does it run the same tyres, wheel alignment and suspension? The fact that i happen to have an interest in all this jazz means i am genuinely curious. I dont assume you to be silly or not understand the variables, but you have to realise that its a big gain so have to expect questions. It will be interesting to see how you go with some more running with the wing... ..and you are right, i dont understand what these cars need. I would have thought a wing would be down the bottom of the list...you jsut never know. I never thought that because the weight of the car give the car plenty of normal load on the tyres in cornering so therefore good traction anyway. A wing gives downforce which effectvely just puts more weight over the wheels therefore increasing traction. So, if the thing was a 580kg Caterham then maybe I would have ecxpected the improvement from a wing.... just saying thats all

I think Webber wishes he had Klien, or Luizzi or some other hack RBR development driver alongside him
-
That crafty little German, Vettel pulls it all together when it mattered easily taking pole . Oh well, an RBR lockout on the front row
-
Well it looks like a Q3 shootout between Webber and Hamo for Pole. Vettel has been slower in S1 all weekend then Webber. Maybe Alonso is an outside chance. And i have held off saying it...but i was right! No way they should have given the keys to the Mercedes to Schuey. I dare say Heidfeld right now would be doing the better job
-
Imagine how many WDCs Webber would have if he had Rubens seat! I mean, Webber BLEW Rosberg away and Rosberg is BLOWING old man Schuey away, I think Webber would have had about 8 WDCs by now! ..... ...and as for commentary. Bring back Alan Jones, i understand he can do with the money
-
Webz on fire in P3. I think every race the guy doesnt win his resolve will only get stronger. If RBR are on the front two rows tomorrow i bet Vettel wont be shown the courtesy shown to him in Malaysia!

Racepace Built R34 Gtr Nur Rb28 V-cam
Roy replied to tangomatt's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Surely you are not going to hand the keys over to someone else for a run at the drags!!!! -
Well Snowie, i have come to India to train and get down to race weight for Targa High Country in case i get the call up. Just today i think i have shat myself to being about 6kgs lighter

I understand all that, but this is the nissan flagship model, with how many millions of dollars spent on development. I understand any production car is always going to be a compromise, but is the R35 shape the way it is because of aero performance. Seems strange to me that if they simply put a wing on it then they would have been able to lap Nurburgring 5-10seconds quicker... but yeh.

If i knew how to post 1.2mb vids i have footage Truth is know way i would get in one when they are doing 2 wheel u-ys accrss city intersections almost getting t-boned You wont get me touching betel leaf either Was the original poster able to find logs from with and without the wing? Its a dramatic improvement over a simgle lap, did Nissan miss something with the wing on the std car, they put all that money into the chassis, gearbox and electronis ...seems strange that the wing woudl be so rubbsh

As MD says... He that is not jealous is not in love. I just hate everyone that is doing track days, not too many in Hyderabad About the only motorsport i have is payign rickshaw drivers money to hammer through corners on two wheels
-
Nope? Pounding ont he punds hey? He has been saying he has no interest in returning to F1 and that may not surprise me. He often says exactly what he means and doesnt get caught up in all the BS

You will see what i think of you when i get back to Singapore and I take you to a special place for special people

I will be real curious to see if RBR are interested in Kimi. Webber would have to be mindful of not having a contract for next year in 2010s best car (so far) I think Kimi is phenomenal, but i think he has hurt himself as he is more the pre 90s F1 driver. Living the good life, getting paid serious bank and only really drives the car. He isnt the " i will be oint eh factory for the 10days between GPs working with engineers type. It will be interesting to see if RBR are happy with Vettel developing the thing and then Kimi and Vettel racing them!?!??! Every team is due for a bad car every few seasons, but whilst Kimi drove the wheels off a shitty Ferrari last year, i cant help but blame the fact for it being shitty in the first place on poor feedback from Kimi and Massa through 2008 and in testing 2009

For gods sake strap in a good camera for in car goodness! Please, please, please!

Check out that clean shirt! Christ you are a good looking man !

Wow, an R35 is harder to drive then an EVO. Man thats like saying its harder to beat up an 8 year old boy then it is a 5 year old girl. Be a man, rip out all that FWD crap out, remove the electronic fish finder in and under the dash, unless you plan on putting it in the drink at the end of the straight at PI...throw a 3rd pedal in the thing then lets see how much fun a 600hp rwd barge will be. Cant wait to see the drift R35 being built up. I am sure with the Aeromotion wing on it will be just as fast (did you see what i just did? on topic post with that clever reference to the thing wing off an F22 ) At the end of the day the times are very impressive. Machine & driver are on the money to be doing those times. Will one of you Wakefield gurus pop down to Winton and give them a run with slicks. I really have no idea how much slicks help. I know of a 250rwkws E36 that is well sorted and with weight out of it doing 1:29s or close to around Winton. I suspect the slicks really help exploit the electrics package of the car

Where was that hack Ryan? Not entered. I dotn think anyone has told him that a guy from NSW in his S14 with Bilsteins, semis and a HKS GT-RS (about 240rwkws) in a car gutted about as much as his did a 1:47.6 or something in the cold on his first time ever to Phillip Island. A vic rwd guy needs to get out there and beat that time, i need to be able to sleep at night with a few more rwd cars deep into the 40s.

Thats a tougher one. With visibility what it is i think you have to give a little slack on the first lap until people work out who is where. But agree, it happens more often...but i dont think Webber and Kimi at Brazil is an example. Webber was moving over to the inside line and Kimi thought he would keep going to try and kers through to make a gap. Funny, the most recent examples of crowding is Hamo at Monza in the wet in 2008. I am sure it has happened dozens of times between then and now and my bias has me remembering those incidents. But that was the more deliberate and intenational examples.

Not really, not enough to throw 15k at a built RB26 with turbo setup. The main benefit for me is the lower taxes in Singapore and no living expenses (accom) The long weeks mean i dont really have time to spend time and money doing things i enjoy. There is just enough in the social aspects of being central in Asia that makes it all worthwhile, and when that pressure relief valve pops, oh it pops But real interested to read how those have found career changes in their 30s, as when i come home to Aus my industry will all but have moved to Asia , so its something in the back of my mind

At the end of the day nobody pays fools loads of money if they are not performing, well not for long anyway. So whether real estate or engineering, know the lack of personal time all too well. I work with various nationalities so often my nights are spent talking to the US, and days working in Singapore or India or wherever the hell they have me. Conference calls at 7.30pm on a Friday night because thats their Friday morning etc. Weekends, huh, be in construction or a manufaturing facility, they are all 7 day a week sites , often 24hours a day, but at least 18hour sites. So typically its a 6day week, 240-260 hour month. So not a case of who has it worse, sure as shit i am happy enough to be doing it because i am doing it. But the bigger theme/picture here is just how unsustaianable many peoples working lives are these days. The pressures of saving for homes, just coping with the cost of living etc has us all working like dogs in respective industries/occupations. Govt complains about aging population, its because nobody can afford kids until they are in their mid 30s, especially after paying 50k for a wedding The old story, you have to put in to..... But i do hope the Layercak theory of you take shit, and you keep takign shit until one day its you handing out the shit.

All this BS of trying to break the tow? Come on. Drafting is part of motorsport, and is really the first principle for getting close enough to a car to get a tow, pull out and get the job done under brakes. Even the FIA for a long time have written: 2. Overtaking, car control and track limits b) Overtaking, according to the circumstances, may be carried out on either the right or the left. However, manoeuvres liable to hinder other drivers, such more than one change of direction to defend a position, deliberate crowding of a car beyond the edge of the track or any other abnormal change of direction, are strictly prohibited. Seems pretty clear to me that what Hamo did was as stupid and amatuerish as something i would do at the local go-kart track. The guy is more and more looking to be a great talent, but at the minute I would have to say the likes of Vettel and Kubica are maturing quicker then him, though they have not had the car and success that Hamo has. A warning was the correct ruling, but frankly, he robbed us of another couple of fun racing laps. Remember Malaysia last year, Hamo and Webber? That was great racing and entertainment as they for 2-3 laps got past one another only for counter attacks to once again relegate them after compromised exits etc. Hamo just couldnt handle his amazing progress to that point being interruped by a rookie in a Renault so threw his dummy out the car and drove like a child. LOL, above is harsh but generally true. Hamo is nowhere near as annoying as he used to be, but these sorts of things are the reason why i remember why i am not a fan

Nothing wrong with tertiary education. For every example of people making out as though they are all over educated idiots who dont earn bank, i can show you plenty of examples of people making a killing and enjoying a great lifesyle/life balance and income from their tertiary education. I am only joking giving the thumbs down, but i do believe Australia do not value science and other specialised industries, with those that do it for their passion often no rewarded for their dedication and excellence. I am sure as shit not talking about myself there, but I know people who fit into this category and understand why people think that some degrees are a waste of space when you can earn very good money by other means. I do not see how a real estate agent can be earning more money then a scientist developing technology or medicines, seems a bit screwy to me. I like my industry, i just hate the fact that global politics and economics mean that since 2000 its in the decline in Aus, which means i have to work overseas if i want to continue to work in the pharmaceutical industry.
