  1. Machinist in Footscray, Melb. Has done plenty of ski boat engines...so open to hear other options. So the failure of the Eagle rod, is that one rod, a few times. Can it go down to a manufacturing fault or assembly?
  2. I am left scratching my head after looking at that vid. A friend used to run in the 944 Series in Vic and know they are a capable car....but how on earth did you guys get the pace out of the thing? Such an awesome effort to punt the lil 944 as hard as the two of you were!
  3. Have you ever seen an Eagle rod bend or fail because of its lack of durability at high power or rpm? I have never used them, but they are $650 for a set on an RB26. They are lighter then std rods. I was quoted $75 per rod for balancing, re-sizing and all that prep caper...then you need to buy the ARP bolts. So, for the money, you get new though are you saying you will still end up spending $50 a rod on linishing etc? I like the Eagles as from the catalogues they are significantly ligther, and seem to still handle boost, revs and power no problem
  4. Careful "Shire" lad, dont hand out too much info, or us Guildford boys will come steal your N1, rob your house and do all sorts of horrible things to any pets you may have!
  5. But what if i have a race suit? The nav pays right?
  6. I think they pack up their personals, go on hloliday and rent the place out to teams, media and fans for big money!
  7. Hey someone has to do it...so hats off to the guy building a car to best expolit the rules!! Sux to be Russ in a GTSt, but with RB20 goodness behind him he is still a winner...until he chucks an RB25 in it then he is just anothe kiddy fiddler!
  8. Keep up? Man, i am the rhino at 30sec http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9hbka8A2yD0
  9. Meh, i have tasted armco, wasnt bad, even better when you mix it with some rubber from a tyre wall. I wouldnt even need a tab of senokot if only trees got in my way! But, agree...i see Group Nc Escorts runing around and personally think a 150hp Escort would be more my cup of tea. I crap myself when i see some of the GTRs etc topping 200+ on sections of road !
  10. LOL, payign tuk-tuk drivers to do two wheels kids on the street corner may be ont eh cards this Sat night...not much else to do No offence to the ladies out there, but it is true the best looking women are actually men! Oh, and Kingfisher...i thought a gag would be the call, not a hat...and for farks sake I am blonde!!!!! Blue eyes, likes walks on the beach discussing RB20 builds ... i will post some pube shots when they grow back, had a little acco on the weekend
  11. "...what, my single purpose in life is to amuse you? You find me funny? Funny how? like funny ahaha, or funny like light in the loafers?"
  12. Can you give us some specs nad updates on the S2000? I rate that car.
  13. I wish i could say i will one day compete, but the best i will ever do is something like High Country. There is a chance I will be there in a car this year, its looking more and more likely by the week at the moment as the pendulum has swung and most likely returning to Aus. But i will never be as committed as you lot of crazies who invest so much time and energy into such a large event! The shorter events are more likely therfore appealing for me. Is the tarmac stuff much like the dirt stuff where the navs pay there own way, half entry etc, or throw in or are there costs generally pooled/covered in with the car and entry? Probably rather variable depending on circumstances. But for instance the BP Rally that is kicking off this week, i know many of he navs go a long way to almost splitting the costs of the event with the driver, simply because the owner of the car assumes the expense of preparing the car?!?!??!?!?!
  14. Now that the date is looming oh so close, and i have just been royally screwed by work so have no incentive be in asshole 3rd world countries...I am stting in my hotel room thinking like an emotional brat and want to quit and come home....time it that my first weekend home is Superlap weekend. I hope there are plenty of vids!
  15. That Alfa build is cool, its in GTR UK forum as well
  16. I am guessing Kimbod knows a bit about Targa, lists car as R34 N1, he is a "SHIRE" Lad so guessing he has been involved with the Just Jap guys at a time?!?!?!?! Much like the dirt rally stuff which i used to crew for from time to time, the logistics of these events is what amazes me. The management required by organiser of events is huge, and that is reflected with the level of management required by teams, from fuel, servicing, hotels, meals etc. Transport... scary
  17. One for the Victorians to root for. Seems Sam Markovs immaculate and fast R32 GTR has been sold and bought by Tony, and will be piloted by one of Vics most insane JFK! Will be entertaining to see how they go as JFK doesnt mind having a go!
  18. Why not? I just looked up my VIN on FAST and my GTSt came out of the same factory as a GTR, So pretty sure i can run an RB26. Also, may be able to use the gearbox as its cheaper then a std RB20 box i will just use the argument of being a cheaper aftermarket equivelant. In case you are being serious, and you werent taking the piss out of my silly hypotheticals , i cant see it. Grp A as a class meant there were freedoms and this included gearboxes. Just as in Targa brakes are free and you can do whatever you like. In Grp A since gearboxes were free they ran the 6 spds. In the case of the uber Lambos that are running around on circuits in Europe etc, I understand the Holinger 6 spd is common accross them all....so that seems to make them legal. Happy to be corrected though. Anyway, more vids...especially in the wet. They remind me that this stuff takes talent and self control....and I am waiting for that new drug that just got released in the UK that stops lads from blowing their loads too quickly....that demonstrates how little control i have! ...oh an dont encourage me Rowdy, I whore this otherwise good thread too much already...and Marlin is bad enough at baiting me with GTSt > R33 GTR comments already!
  19. COME ONE! This is the internet, where even middle aged men get to behave like 15 year old boys again! The whole thing does my head in. So genuinely curious, can an EVO IV run an EVO VI 5 speed box. Same for an R32 GTR run an R33 GTR gearbox or vice versa? If i built an GTSt can i run any RB20 from any year model of Nissan, so Z31 300zx , R31 or R32 etc. ??? If its fundamentally the same I expect that you will be able to run it. Not saying this is the case with the 6 spd vs 5 spd as that is pretty clear cut. But an R32 GTR running an R33 engine with associated crank and oil pump etc would be more reliable then a later model engine. Ditto some of the later model RB20 engines are far superior to the earlier engines. Can i run a later model RB20 in my R32 GTSt ?
  20. I was going to be at that event, but got shipped out from Singapore a few weeks ago. I will enjoy working in Singapore more when they open their motorsport complex next year. Drift is popular, and pretty cool that some Aussie influence is present in their drift scene!
  21. Here is the thing, i enjoy driving. I sort of suck, but am ok because i have doen a bit of it. To me i enjoy playing with cars and seeing what makes them quick. If I was good at it and could earn a living from it (I cant) i would build cars. If i had th emoney to build my own cool cars i would (I cant). I say this because the appeal of building the best and quickest car out there is more interesting to me then being the quickets driver out there. I have met through a friend a gentlemen down here in Vic, and as soon as his cars come up for sale they get snapped up....they know his cars are quick and built amazingly well. I think thats cool that in certain circles thats how his name is regarded. So sounds like a wanker, but i like the engineering challenge of building a quick car. No rule book that i can read covers all things. I read the tarmac rally regs and i have found holes that i think would allow me to build a pretty cool car, and quick. So agree to the extent that following the rules to the letter, but that means it has to be written. If its not written then a few liberties can be taken, provided its not blatantly against the spirit of competition (a hard thing to define/defend)
  22. The R32s did not run ceramic turbos. Nissan did a run of 800 GTRs to homologate things like turbos etc. They were plain bearing steel wheeled turbos. You see them floating around from time to time and referred to, funnily enough as Grp A turbos. Doubt they are original items bu probably the same spec turbo. When Stev Richards returned from being a test and development driver in the UK he ran the Primera run bay Garry Rogers, i believe it was the old Matt Neal Team Dynamics chassis. Though may have been a facoty car from the uK?!?!
  23. For me, its pretty clear why the ATTKD cars are singled out. The other specials seem to be running in Modern, but the lil R32 because of its year model it seems gets to run in Early Modern! Thats clever, bit like the 400R, only the 400R is a little more recognised as a low volume build. Just wait until i build a limited build of R32 GTSts with RB24 and TD06s. Every stage will be reduced to a touring stage after they drop their guts all over the road or cut down trees obstructing the road....they are going to need hefty cages
  24. oops wrong thread
  25. R33 is a funny one. Super GT didnt really exist, nor did Grp A. The Japanese did run 2L Touring Cars for a while much like the Europeans. The R33 did run at Le Mans etc As for the R32 GTR being run in 2wd. For about 1 second off the line they used to launch in rwd before engaging awd. This was done to make the drivetrain more reliable by reducing the shock of awd launches. When racing they did not run variable awd like the road car with ATTESSA, instead they had switches in the car that allowed them to run a fixed amount of fwd depending on the prevailing track coditions. And wasnt quite 4 years straight, in 1990 the R31 ran a bulk of the races in the SATCC, before the R32 took over late in the season for Richard to take the title. 91 ad 92 weres impler affaird in the SATCC and dont forget that in 1990 they were beaten at Bathurst by the VL Walkinshaw but simpler tasks in 91 and 92.
