This is the first time i am watchng a GP on a racetrack i have driven and it blows my mind the speeds they are doing through the corners and where they brake! I am such a hack, i want to go back to Spa now, i reckon i can cut 5s of lmy best time And Webz in real trouble with Hamo just behind him. Can only hope that with some fresh blood backing themselves for a GP win up front that there is some carnage and 3-4 have trouble on the opening lap, inc Rubesn ... Shame i have to wish carnage on other drivers bt Webz needs a hand out

SPA is SOOOO AWESOME!

So wat is a decent target weight for a 6 point cage with side impact, bit not going crazy with all the diagonals as the car is a circuit car and A) dotn expect to hit any trees out there and B) dont need the chassis rigidity. I ask becaue for personal comfort i can run std doors and minimal side impact and a certain weight. Or go much more comprehensive cage which makes access shit, but allows me to run carbon doors. But whats the point of taking 30kgs of weight our of doors if the additional weight of the cage offsets it?!?! Keeping in mind this is only a club track-super spritn car

So are you running a workshop over these these days or are you just collaborating with a workshop? So COOL!

Yeh, i can see some caebag up front as ppl back themselves for a win. I thinl Trulli has to be favourite. I wonder if Kimi can get it off the line from where he is? RBR may get some points bt another shocking weekend means that you have to say they are letting a great opportunity pass them by...ditto Brawn are choking and not performing

Sh1t, Webber with P3 problems. They bring Geoff Willis in because he was a gun at getting cars reliable, He leaves mid season and we seem to be getting gremlins

Another track silver R32...noice!

Eoi: R34 Gt-t Brake Upgrade (324mm Rotors)
Roy replied to SS8_Gohan's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Well basic math tells me that 324-280=44. Or 22m mon top of the rotor radius. You have 310mm, so throw 44mm on top of that and you have 354mm, which is terribly close to a cery common rotor diameter of 355. So the first place to start is grab a 355mm rotor and see how well your std R34GTT caliper saddles it. If it looks ok then i hope you have 18" wheels and you can either use the same mount/bracket i have laying around the house to trial clearances or at least confirm the dimensional requirements for the bracket you need. You will then have a common sized rotor, a meaty rotor so that if you ever want to upgrade to a better, stiffer caliper with better pad surface area etc then you can smply throw that at the 355mm rotor which is enough brake for just about any car. What pads and fluid are you running now? Throw some Motul RBF600 or Castrol SRF in there and i can lend you some Endless CCX pads (i think the R32 GSTt pads fit R34 GTT...you will need to confim that) I suspect a good quality pad and fluid will ahve you going "wow, my brakes are awesome" Thats until you track it and that 285rwkws has gotten you up to 240km/h and you need to stop the thing repeatedly in quick succession The biggest concern is that the GTT caliper is designed for a 30mm thk rotor. The bigegr diameter rotors are commonly 32mm or thicker. So if the caliper cannot clear the thickness you have to run a 30mm rotor which puts you back at the 324mm which i dont think is justified, especially in light of how "delicate" te petite little bracker woudl need to be. I had trouble with an R32 gTSt caliper clearing a 32mm thick caliper though i recently read here on SAU another person did not have that issue so perhaps the later model calipers have more internal clearance -
Tring to get my last 11 days of leave so that i can go to the Japanese GP, but if that doesnt work out this is an equally cool way to spend few days!
-
Looking at my Calender i have 11 days off in Septemeber before my contract ends at end of October. So fits in nicely with Monza. If Count Hardcore is up for Japanese GP i may be able to push my leave to around the 23rd or so to make the Japanese GP. And of course Abu Dhabi on 1st November...just need to keep Webber in the hunt so i am extra motivated to go to these races rather then go and boo Louise or Buttton coasting to victories. LOL, they are over 60 seconds a lap quicker then i was in the little Caterham How friggin fast must those things be since i was way quicker then 996 GT2s etc

Eoi: R34 Gt-t Brake Upgrade (324mm Rotors)
Roy replied to SS8_Gohan's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Daniel, your car is mint.. i love it. But are you sure you need to be messing with the brakes? Its a lot of money for not much gain...and based on how immaculate your car is i cant see you regularly jamming it down the inside of people into turn 1 at Sandown or PI where you need $2000 and up brakes!>!?!?!?! But hey, i love brakes and if you want a nice brake setup let me know dollars and i will do my best to come up with a shopping list...i love spending other peoples money -
So pumped for what is my favourite race of the year (Brazil a close seond...i just love these tracks) COME ON WEBZ. Vettel will be going for it, has nothing to lose. You need to keep your nose in front and just wait for Button to have the gearbox problem that Rubens has been having. Things are coming your way, you just need to be there to capitalise...something you have not done the past two GPs. COME THE FARK ON RBR!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Your build is mint and i didnt want to be critical of an awesome build, but i was left wondering why you threw the fuel cell up high in the boot. Throw back in the std jobbie, or GTR as i am told they are plastic and lighter, ...or better yet make up a 30L smaller alloy jobbie that sits under the car but in front of the rear axles...perfection. I am reading all these build threads whilst stuck in a hotel room and so keen to ge tback to Aus and getting something going
-
So, so very very cool. I only have about 2-3 months left in India so doubt calenders will match so i can see a round. But , never say never. Get this beast running and you will have a very dilligent wheel cleaner at your disposal ... plus promo girls bum's look better from down there

Wheels With Large Internal Diameters
Roy replied to Risking's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Harrop run 382mm rotors, and with 6 pot Harrop calipers you can squeeze them inside 18" TE37s -
Yeh that Rex has been for sale in WA for a while. Was asking good money but appears to be a good car

Eoi: R34 Gt-t Brake Upgrade (324mm Rotors)
Roy replied to SS8_Gohan's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Best advice i can offer is look for a cheap and readily available supply of larger rotors and go for that. I think John now stocks Stoptech stuff, you can buy it direct from US if you want to play that game. Or you can get 343 gear locally in Melb liek those used on Danes 180SX setup. It may be worthwhile on a larger rotor if the caliper will accept it, which i suspect it may. Also, braking performance is about two things, heat control and braking torque (assuming tyre grip is the same) Pad area does nothing for braking torque, but does help with heat control. The bigger rotor helps with braking torque and heat control. Going to a larger rotor and retaining the same caliper is often a good value upgrade -

STD R34 GTT is 310mm, seriously i think you need to really question what you do with the car and what you expect to get from running a rotor 14mm bigger? Sure throw an adaptor on, but why not a Brembo/Stoptech/Alcon 332mm rotor, or a B-Spec (CSC) 343mm rotor? I think this mod to R32 GTSt and S13s is a great mod, but you are going frm a 280mm rotor to a 324mm . 310 to 324mm rotot, i question if its worth the agro and also look at the brackets you posted, The first pic is the 280-324mm bracket. Big diam change an chunky-sturdy bracket. The secons is 296-324mm. You can see the bracket isnt as robust as there isnt as much metal in the bracket. Now imagine how dainty and little metal would be in a bracket for going from 310 to 324mm? Its only a radial change of 7mm. Factor in the bolt hole diam and you will need to clock the caliper forward so that the thing will work -
The jibe wasnt intended to be a cheap shot, perhaps what i think is funny isnt funny:) I still say ITSMAD was the coolest buzz box getting around when i was young. They were the pioneers back in the early 90s with turbo GTis and Aus deliverd S14s before the import word went gangbusters and they are still on top now. LOL, so ... maybe im showing my age. You say CRD i think ITSMAD

It was actually a joke. He considered buying mine but i dont think it was what he was after and i am now wanting to keep it. There are fans of each brand. From those i know who have run the HKS 3040 and the 25G on very similar cars and same dyno the 25G makes more power then the 3040 and is tad more responsive, so is obviously laggier then 3037 but you get that if you are chasing those extra few top end kws. The 3037 is the solid all rounder and the better choice!

LOL, two wrongs do not make a right

R32 - Gts-t V Gtr Rear End, Knowledge Requested Please :)
Roy replied to Marlin's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Your problem is you have an RB25 box and an RB30. Wouldnt need to worry about all that weight a strength if you stuck with the lighter RB20 drivetrain -
Do you care about colour?

Dont mean to speak foul of Meridian, they are a great bunch of guys that do great work. But they are not cheap for some things, and that includes seats. Ditto Revolution Racegear, thats about the last place i would buy a seat. Velo Milanos are not bad but i think you will be happier going GP90, GPT etc. Now where to buy, if you are happy to go second hand then you just need to know where to shop. LOL like brakes i am the seat king when it comes to hunting down cool seats cheaply But if you are buying new then i suggest you try Grant Mundy Racing Products (GMP Racing) or on line at Racer Industries who often have good sales on seats. Both sell Velo. Or try Speedzone at Ballarat, they dont do Velo but are a good bunch of guys who generally do good gear at good prices, certainly better then some other Speedzone chains.

I just ordered mine through local Autobahn. 4 days later i picked it up, complete with picture of gool old Larry on it
