Skyline R32 Ls3 Drift Car
Roy replied to Morten Kiil Finsaas's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
I dont know. I hate the fact that my car is turbo. Heat, lag and the cost of the bolt ons. Even my lowly RB20 has over 10k of bolt ons. I like the idea of an alloy 8 up front...be interesting to see hwo well they work in an R32 -
But you would be cheating Gary, odds are that your car would stop better then most because of the suspension and alignment. They way a properly set up car uses its tyres and brakes is very different to how our road cars use brakes. Not to mention that we have Sandown and Calder, so not so concerned about one stop, I am more worried about the 4th or 5th lap which is when i have a tendency to be lockign brakes as the feel goes out of the braking system when they get up there in the heating stakes. And also, i am sick of cracking DBA 4000 and RDA slotted rotors. Isnt your 340mm setup usign DBA 5000s so those rotors alone are worth over $800... + pads ... + lines and adaptor. Isnt it more like a $2000 setup? LOL, i have done the numbers time and time again....F40s or Stoptechs i feel are best for my car....

Going To Winton Tomorrow What Are The Usual Lap Times?
Roy replied to dmac_25's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
I have done more laps there in the Lotus then i have my own car -
Yeh, problem is my new RE30s still havent been delivered. And thinking long and hard about it 330-332mm is all my car really needs, and the weight of anything bigger and expense of anything bigger not really worth it And at that dollar figure i think the Stoptech 332 are the way to go...can you sort me the details?

Forged Rb26 Pistons And Rods
Roy replied to Roy's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
I have made dollar committments for the next few weeks around the expectation that the previous sale was going ahead. So in a bit of a bind at present. So, for a quick sale will sell together for $1360 + delivery , but only if they are sold in the next few days. -
Hmm. i wonder if the 355 will fit inside 8.5 + 30 RE30s? probably not. Plus i think the 332mm setup will do for my car

Yeh, i dont get the postage cost either. I had some stuff sent over and for 250gms cost me a bomb. Can you pm me your email because if you are serious i think i know a cheaper way of arranging postage. Now to post off my F40s and whore off my Greddys

17" Work Xd9s & Greddy 6 Pot Brake Setup
Roy replied to Roy's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Wheels look to be sold with a guy getting money together and another in the wings. Offer on the brakes was a little low, but open to reasonable offers. Nengun sell these for $2800 + delivery so ... make an offer. -
Rotors are not the same between Brembo and Stoptech. They are damn similar but Stoptech use different style hats which means you cant use a brembo rotor with a Stoptech hat etc. Personally thats why i see the Stoptechs as being just a tad better then the Brembo as the rotors are cheaper to replace, on paper (who knows in the real world) Stoptechs hats could be better, and they also throw a bridge over the top of the caliper for rigidity. Though thats not reall a problem with the F40/50s. LOl i am talking myself into buying some Stoptechs

Dyno Graphs Comparing Pfc Boost Controll Vs Blitz Idiii
Roy replied to STATUS's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Software and closed loop control aspects aside, the type of boost control valve used would make a difference i assume. Dual solenoid seems to work well in this instance. Isnt the stepping motor type of the EVC a better ideal solution to the task of boost control? Though the controls behind the EVC mas bot be as good as the Blitx unit. -
What state are you in? How well do you know your tuner. On the face of things there is something masively wrong with the results you are getting. It could be tune, it could be boost control, could be the CAS. It could be a collapsed catalytic converter. Could be lots of things, but i would assume your tuner would have given you some feedback on wht you are makign so little power from a 450hp turbo running that amount of boost, and why it is so slow to build boost

Yeh the Rega are an awesome wheel and the same weight give or take as my old LM GT4s. Only prpblem is the spoke design and offset of mine mean they dont clear larger aftermarket brakes. The same problem as the XD9s, fine over std brakes, not so flah without spacers if you want to run track brakes. The RE30s are same as my XD9s, 17 x 8.5 + 30. According to Rays they are suitable for bigger aftermarket brakes on a Skyline, and have a better spoke design to clear calipers. Would love to go the sort of offset you ran on your GTSt but i need the suspension travel and gaurd clearance on the track. LOL, yes. Next years GP i might try and steal some Rays wheels out of the Williams pit garage

Going To Winton Tomorrow What Are The Usual Lap Times?
Roy replied to dmac_25's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
LOL, because they are all clutch kicking it around corners at drift events -
Looking at the calipers pictured the bleed nipple is nowhere near the edge of the caliper/pistons. So perhaps it is only th eolder style of caliper that fails as the ones pictured seem to have lots of meat around the nipple?!?! Will pay closer attention next time i see them.
-
Yeh, i didnt realise that that 4 piston caliper doesnt even have differential piston sizing. Also re the vanes, surface area i sking of cooling, so is mass. I think it comes down to cost of manufacture...but they do seem supremely robust with nobody cracking them. I love the Project U 6 piston calipers, mostly because they look trick and seem to hug/saddle the rotor nicely. But when it comes to actually paying money for them i couldnt see myself doing it

Going To Winton Tomorrow What Are The Usual Lap Times?

And yes Count. Your car with some RE55s would lap quickly, probably quicker then my car as a result of the way it makes its power -
Going To Winton Tomorrow What Are The Usual Lap Times?
Roy replied to dmac_25's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Yeh, my only Winton time is from last years Dutton, so two laps and i was held up by the F430 Ferrari on my hto lap. He was doing 1:47s so hurt me to the tune of at least 1.8-2.4 seconds as i caught him through the long left hand sweeper and couldnt get past him until the tight right hander onto the back straight away where the timing beacon was http://www.duttonrally.com/results/2007/vi...nt16_Driver.pdf I think any R32/S13/14/15 platform with 220-240rwkws and tidy suspension and tyres would be in the hunt for that time. Dutton last year has got me thinking that a low 1:35 is possible in my car with some laps. -
Going To Winton Tomorrow What Are The Usual Lap Times?
Roy replied to dmac_25's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Ok, my guess. It has decent coil overs, R32 brakes by the looks of it. About 230-250rwkws and some good 17" semi slicks. Having done the 38.2 easily with traffic i imagine your car would be capable of similar times if you just ponied up with the coin for a T518Z and Power Fc -
I looked at Project U and personally wouldnt use them. Firstly their rotors are not curved vane, instead a spin on the DBA style kangaroo paw. Secondly their 4 piston forged calipers use use 4 small pads which means you are stuck using Project U pads. Their 6 pot calipers have a wider range of pads but ... still not as widely available as other calipers. Also, replacement rotors are expensive, though if you check with Paul Morris Racing he may be changing that as i believe he is the Australian distributer for all things Project U. And lastly, which is a bit of a funny one, if you hunt around yahoo auctions i have seen calipers that are going cheap because they have split around the bleed nipple. So not so much a concern if you are buyign new. But a concern if buying used and the long term durability of some of the calipers. But mostly because if you go Project U you are stuck using Project U rotors, pads etc etc. That all said they do look great, and they do seem to have a loyal following, but those concerns are enough for me to say that Stoptech woudl be the better option...

Making smokes is more profitable then making cars. Bring back Big Tobacco Along with the B&H Jordan, West McLaren, Lucky Strike and 555 Bar ets. They looked cool. About the only bad example of a tobacco car is the Winfield Williams

I dont feel stupid. Williams might have some sponsors such as RBS, AT&T, Philips, Petrobas etc...but even with Toyota deal they have less funding then McLaren, BMW, Ferrari, Toyota, RBR, Honda probably less then Renault. Im sure if Rothmans were able to kick in a Ferrari like budget figure Frank wouldnt say no. Its a credit to the team that they are doing as well as they are (Which isnt really that good, but they have some pace from time to time to sit Rosberg well in the Top 10) By "REAL MONEY" i mean sufficient backing to aggressively try to recruit the right engineers, drivers and get back on top of F1. If Frank had a decent budget, (in that he felt he had enough funding that the cars development would mean its quicker then the drivers he could hire, rather then throwing a capable guy in there and spending what resources he has on infrastructure and engineering) there is no way one of his drivers would be there. Its as simple as that!

Well curse you because my XD9s look hopeless on my car compared to yours. So just bought some RE30s, hopefully they look ok, if they dont i dont care as i just want some nice light wheels that fit
