What Do You People Know About This E85 Fuel ?
Roy replied to discopotato03's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
If it becomes more readily available i will be running it. Triple 888 racing just performed a test using it and by all reports the thing made the same power, same starting when hot / cold and same torque, throttle response etc etc. Only thing is the consumption. Will be interesting to see over the next few weeks once they have pulled down the engine for inspection how it stacks up against normal PULP for wear -
Gtr Vs Gtst Huge Difference In Performance?
Roy replied to boostin_r33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Your second comment is on the money in my eyes. The GTSt is a decent enough thing. The GTR is better, if you want to go quick then you are always better to start with the fastest factory car you can afford. On the street i think the awd makes it the better car. On the track it still has an advantage but not as much as people expect. A 200rwkw std turbo R33 is punchy as hell, in the lower gears on the street. I would back it in a back street dash through the neighbourhood over a GTR which std i think are bloody laggy. But thats fair enough, as they make 250rwkws on std turbos so its understandable that they are laggier then an RB25 with a small single running more compression. But, anyone can use a story to prove a point. 90% of the time the GTR will be the better all rounder, especially with money spent on it in the right places. But at a cost. As for dash for cash. I would back most 20k R32 GTSts against a 20K R32 GTRs at the track On the street i would mush prefer the GTR, though at present i am loving the fuel economy of the RB20 LOL, and i cant help myself. Those people hanging shit on the R32 GTSt. Well here is an R32 GTSt with std RB20 with a turbo upgrade against an R32 GTR with Poncams and std turbos. As you can see the same dyno and tuner. The GTR no doubt has more torque, but it bloody well needs it as the car is heavier, and the gearing is longer. When looking at these cars and modding them you need to look at all areas of the car and make sure the mods compliment one another. I wish i could say i got my results with careful planning etc, truth is i lucked upon a good setup, though i did always have an eye on the 'package' when performing mods R32 GTR R32 GTSt with turbo So compare the power and gearing of the RB20 above and for power at road speed it isnt really struggling that much. Now take into consideration the lighter weight and they can be pretty punch things. -

I disagree, considering Bourdais is learning the ropes at STR and an F1 car not to mention tracks he hasn’t driven in years. I think Bourdais is coming along nicely and is doing a sterling job of keeping up with a very talented Vettel. And Bourdais is another guy who I like because of the way he approaches F1. He is there for the racing, not the glitz and glamour. LOL, have to remember his entry to the Aus GP, back entrance driving a Camry! And at present we pull the best chicks, imagine if we were 4ft 10” F1 drivers! Paula says hi by the way

R32 Gtr Brake Upgrade Advice
Roy replied to LotusGTR's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Some people notice a big improvement from pedal effort, others less. I think it has to do with the condition of firewall etc etc. But is a nice to have that compliments the other brakign components. But as a stand alone modification, it will do very little to help the braking capacity of an underbraked GTR But is $150 odd well spent all the same -
Webber will never get a McLaren seat. I can’t see them getting rid of Heikki either, he is a low key guy with talent who won’t rock the ship. I will be surprised if he wins a GP this year. I suspect its team politics that mean he isn’t competitive from week to week. Montoya and Alonso were far stronger personalities and they didn’t fit well inside McLaren. Their desire to be competitive was always going to be frustrating when in a car alongside McLarens golden boys. Just like DC didn’t rock the boat for Mika, and Kimi, Heikki wont challenge the back seat view he is getting behind Lewis. It’s a shame as I would love to know how good Heikki is, his pace suggests that if given the same strategy as Lewis he would be outqualifying him and who knows what would then translate over a race distance with better grid positions. He also has had a tough season in an ordinary car, you only have to look at Heikki’s race on the weekend to see that his drive was controlled and aggressive enough to see him walk up the grid. A thing he has had to do most of the season

R32 Gtr Brake Upgrade Advice
Roy replied to LotusGTR's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
25mm in diameter is only 12.5mm in radius, so your car will only sit 12mm lower, which to me is whether you had a big dinenr or not -
The Whiteline ones are well prices and generally great value. Just be mindful that if you go for the larger front and rear swaybars (25F/24R) you may end up with clearance problems....maybe.

Good efforts, but again in context. He was coming from the back fo the grid and had plenty of laps with no traffic. And i only saw i pass on Gonzo and it was before he pitted. Again, it was a silly move!!!!! Why pull a move on a car when you are about to pit? He had nothing to gain, 1/10th of a second, he woudl have lost that much tryingthe pass and holding both drivers up. And had everything to lose! It is possible that the Renault raio call came to not stress as Lewis had to pit any lap. But its just another example that Lewis is getting too much power in calling his own strategy and he doesnt have the head on his shoudlers at present to be makign smart decisions. Agree with Baron, didnt realise Webber was so close to Heikki. Sure Heikki has had some rotten luck....but its a tragedy that the second Mclaren isnt able to take any points away from his team mates title challengers! And all this talk about fuel correct qualifying pace. I find it interesting that its always Heikki who they are fuelling heavy, it gives Lewis track position, priority in the pits and a better grid position and means Heikki plays rear gunner. The whole no1 status thing isnt always so clear cut, but its starting to look like Heikki is happy being a lap dog to Lewis. Not what you want to see in the second seat of a competitive team

Smaller lighter cars dont get knocked around by less tyre grip as they dont use their tyres as much. I would expect an Elise, light and only moderate power, to be closer to its slick tyre time using a semi...then compared to the bigger, heavier and more powerful cars that would really need the tyre under them. But no doubt tyre grip is still tyre grip and all cars benefit from fresh grippy semis or full slicks

Even if ITV cant see it, it appears the rest of the British media love hanging their sports stars, whcih is pretty sad. Sure, be hard, but be fair. One paper wrote that "this sudden persecution complex and petulance does him no service," adding: "He needs to take responsibility for his mistakes." Which i agree with 100% Another from the Daily Telegraph "You cannot criticise a racer for racing. However, with better judgment in Canada and France he might still be leading the championship." That soudns fair enough to me. But all the other rubbish about licence plates and calling him impetuos is getting a little personal...for print media

Yeh, was just thinking about the race he won the other day in that oil burning car around the clothes line out the back of Sarthe Wish i was born in the 50s, growing up in the 60s And i have to say one of the more attractive GT cars of recent years

So you are going to cut out the spare wheel well and throw a part of the tank in there? cool, but where to for the spare tyre? Not beign problematic, i think its hell cool that you are throwing gas on it. Just if its going to be a daily driver, what are the legalities for chopping into the spare wheel well?
-
Just to clarify teh R35 does have exhaust and breathing mods and upgraded suspension and light weight carbon/kevlar Bride seats. And Advan Neova are not semi slicks, they are performance tyres much like what the GTR was running. If anything they are a generation behind the Dunlops so not as good a tyre.

Well, i only have to think back to Japan last year. I cant believe they gave Kubica a drive through for tangling with Lewis. Lewis went wide, Kubica stuck it up the inside when he had been clearly quicker the preceeding laps and Lewis was able to catch it and get the car back on line , but wa too late and the two cars clashed. It was a racing incident, Kubica was Johnny on the spot and got rolling again and was leading the GP, only to be given a drive through. Personally i think it was a racing incident, and if any blame had to be layed it shoudl have been Lewis who was tryign to come back from a hopeless position. But it was a racing incident, yet Hamilton got off and Kubica denied what could have been his first GP. If there was an anti McLaren force at play then i woudl have thought it woudl raise its head then. Similarily with the pace car problems at the same GP. A few drivers complained about how Hamilton was controlling the pace, Vettel's penalty was overturned because new evidence showed that Lewis's actions contributed...yet no penalty or even a warning when the clause stated that he has meant to stay within a certain distance of the pace car and a speed relative to the safety car...something that all involved noted as not happening, Would have been by the book to penalise the guy again here. Thankfully they didnt because whilst perhaps justifiable it would have been a BS penalty. So , i dont really have a problem with the penalties issued to Mclaren this weekend. They simply need to control their cars/drivers better and stop blaming other people for their errors. I will repeat, i cant believe Kimi didnt get the meat ball flag

In a tarmac rally car i think you would be mad not to run one. Definitely worth the expense considering the proximity of large things that hurt
-
I know you think it looks crap, but the volume of the tank you will be able to fit under the car will limit the milage you can get out of a tank. Cram it into the boot space and be done with it, may help you get some decent endurance out of it
-
I am not ready to dong the foil hats yet and scream conspiracy theory. But it was 100%BS that Kimi wasnt forced to pit. It wasnt even a 50:50 call, whereas Hamilton deserved the penalty. Though in the greater scheme of things, if they were going to ping Louise they needed to ping Kimi, different things, but with regards to consequnces etc. Yeh Kimi was damn lucky!

Anyone Had Trouble With Swaybars And Sumps?
Roy replied to Roy's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Will be interesting to find the reason they site as the cause of the damage. Sucks because now i have to remove the engine from teh car to fix/replace the sump So time to respray the engien bay...fark where does the spend end -
What i loved was the commentary in the opening laps/ "Heikki has to get out of Lewis's way. He is holding him up" LOL, yet they turn around and say that there is no No.1 driver at McLaren. Yet everybody's expectation was that Heikki was to move over ... To date i love the few times the past 12 months that DC and Webber have been on the road together they actually race one another with several positional changes over a several laps. McLaren really need to find their way again. They are losing the plot mid season again.

If i had a car, money and a clue i would love a calender like this
-
Cool, i will remember to flatten his tyres so Ben's almighty GTSt takes the prize

Yeh he was alongside/past and easy to overtake a car when they have to brake for a corner and you jsut sail on through barely braking. He was looking ragged, lockign brakes, hitting Heikki. He may have been great in traffic in GP2, but the few times he has had to race from behind in F1 he has looked dangerous, and not in a good way. GREAT to watch though as i was expecting him to lock up and take Piquet out And i dont normally buy into all thsi FIA love Ferrari and hate McLaren nonsense. There have been times where you have to question it though, and last night i cant believe they didnt make Kimi come into the pits! It is open wheel racign with drivers heads kind of sitting proud of the cockpit metres behind the car in front. Great race by Trulli though, and again .. Alonso looking ragged!
