  1. Everybody has different views. Personally i think its a good thing, especially if you combine it with ceramic coating. It helps with under bonnet temps but also the life of the manifold
  2. Webber wants new RBR contract so at least he seems happy there. I love Williams, but what is it with them the past 5 or so years that they start well and finish the season well, with a sometimes good Monaco, for the rest of the 12 or so GP they go backwards But, hopefully Loiuse bins with Kimi or Kubica meaning if Webber has another good race he will get a good points haul courtesy of a few falling over
  3. Are you positive the rpm scaling on your graph is correct?
  4. STD Rb20 bore is only 78mm, so an 81 or 82mm piston is alredy 2-3mm bigger. There is no way i would be trying to bore a block out 8mm for R34 RB26 pistons.
  5. Give him a call. I suspect one has been done recently for a customers R34
  6. RB30s are lazy low reving truck motors for people that love their Winnie Blues up the sleeve of their medium Bonds shirt With regards to the rebuild. I would beinclined to go DET block. There are plenty around with so many woners going RB30, they have the squirters and are a more known quantity. But the RB30s dont use oil squirters and they dont have a problem so perhaps they are not that critical so wouldnt be spending too much money on another block. Especially oif the car already has an RB25 engine number on its rego papers, you dont really want to be inviting the registry bodies to be inspecting the car with a engine swap and a engine number check for rego
  7. Whats done to the car? A 1:41 is a prefectly respectable time. Going to HSV/MSCA days there are plenty of good cars in the low 1:4#s
  8. You can either get Tomei 2.4L pistons which i think are 82 or 83mm or you can try some custom cosworth etc pistons. The head gasket will msot likely be Tomei as well to suit the new bore. Do a search for RB24, you should be able to get plenty of good infto. Particulary from Legend01 who built a nice 3000rwkws example
  9. The important thing is that its the quickest time of the weekend. So even when the big boys drop their fuel loads and put in a good lap, it is surely to be good enough for a top 8 quali position. Lets hope DC can and Mark can get qualifying right and we get a good race out of RBR.
  10. Sorry, lol like most of my advice i dont have any personal experience with gear, just stuff i have read and thought about when i look at gear. On the bright side, fact is you will be running a big rotor, plenty of pad, no doubt a sporting compound with new brake lines that come with the caliper. Then you bleed new fluid through with the install so at the end of it you will have a setup that bo doubt you will be happy with. Half the time the details is just details, you cant teall the difference

I agree re track days., Wet, dry whatever, just get out there and have fun. If it happens to be wet you will be doing a lot more learning in a rwd car then an awd car like the GTR. But my point is people say quicker in all conditions. These days sports cars are all but a waste on the street. So since you cant punt them you have to enjoy the experience of just driving it. AWD, FWD or RWD if its wet you are mad to chose that time to play in the car. You are just asking for throuble. So on the track, getting back to the original point, yeh the AWD would provide you with a far better tool if you are trying to go quick
  12. Good read, thanks for clarifying. But ok they are not brilliant, but are they bad? I still think a very telling thing about Japanese tuning and approach to car setup is what happens to cars like the EVO 8, R34 GTR M-Spec etc. They go to Europe, European Mitsu and Nissan engineers get their hands on them and throw in Bilsteins etc valved to suit and the cars are a hit in their intended market. When Japan get their hands on them they often find their way onto local cars with things like the EVO 8 MR etc etc
  13. Give Craig a call. http://www.tracksidetyres.com.au/ If you ring around i dont doubt you may be able to beat his prices, but he is a champion guy, is often at meets (major meets) so if required can get wheels changed at the track and is a motorsport tyre guy so can help with tyre selection and setup....plus he is just a good old fashioned top bloke. He sells Bridgestone, Toyo etc etc
  14. Nathan, is there much chance of their being any movement on the types of semi slicks you have outlawed? Whislt enquiring about tyres for this event i can get a disallowed tyre for a very good price. (read over $650 saving per set) Obviously i woudl like to use them, as i dont really care if they are any better or worse, they happen to be cheap.
  15. For this money the manifold is a steal. They are nice solid and discreet manifold that have been proven to be good things. I regret selling the one i had laying around for the one day engine
  16. Happy Bday to the both of you...here is to hopign your luck is better then Rubin Carters

I have sat in a red one that ran an injected LS1 at Eastern Creek years and years ago. It was probably 2003. Didnt drive it though, and yes it was basic inside. You could be right re elbow etc. What i do remember is saying "Fark chaging gears with my right hand" But hey, i later broke my left wrist and had to learn how to bat off right handed, so could probably change gears with that hand now
  18. Well here is hoping that next season brings in a new team, But wont be holding my breath
  19. Mine doesnt blow a drop of oil either and my god how i have upped the boost nad rev the bejezuz out of the thing at the track trying to keep up with the big boys I have at times thought it might be as simple as the RB20 rocker covers not allowing blow by to get to the catch can as readily...but ppl are saying that its the opposite ?
  20. To the organisers. What sort of First Aid, Fire and Emergency Services are going to be trackside? I would like to pre-book
  21. Hye, Yamaha race bikes, design heads for other ppl. Have designed F1 engines, Yamaha are nto idiots and would surely still do a good enough job of contract manufacturing???? Wouldnt they?
  22. Thats all the difference between being a hero or a zero, its important to accept ones lot in life
  23. But its a GTR, it will still do big ends. But seriously on the matter of gearboxes, does anyone know the system in the Lambos/R8s etc? They are awd so woudl be itneresting to hear how they have put up with 2 years of use with the extra load on them from the AWD
  24. It really is a shame that as soon as tyre manufacturers start making semi slicks big enough for the R35 that ppl are going to have to remove the engine and install custom sumps with baffles, as new R35s spinning big end bearings isnt good for them . Great to see they are keeping the spinning bottom end history of the GTR alive
