I see faults in this tho. Forgetting to unchain the car. I have seen my nextdoor neighbour do this with his boat, and his mail box. Lets just say, he got a new mailbox, AND a new boat trailer. Also, 60 point immobiliser, while good in theory, they will get annoyed and torch your car. You need a system to stop them from even going near it, or letting them break in easy, but have it so the car is easy, quick, and quiet to trace. As if you go after them with a police car with lots of lights, they run. If you go after them in an unmarked car or two, they get pulled up no worries.

Thanks for the answer. The reason I have been told to use steampipe is being thicker it holds in the heat better, you can design it to suit your application, and set it up so it pulses. Holding in the heat so I have been told is a good thing, as thiner(ie hotter) air travels faster, hence reducing lag, etc. Same deal with a turbo tea cossie thing, keeping the heat in, is the benifit. Or so I have been told. Anyway. After thinking about it a bit more, more so on RB20/25s and the cast HKS etc manfiolds, whats the go with them? As I would be assuming they would be better than stock (?) so if you then did your honing on them, they would be better than a stock honed manifold correct? Sorry for what might seem stupid questions, just no one else has asked them, and I feel them to be kinda valid.

So what was in that? 1g or something? Also Nico, really good aditude man

Having a paint tin in the boot that tips over when the car moves is handy. Then you just follow the paint line. Only thing is you need to remember to put the lid back on the paint tin every time you go to drive it. Better way is leave a hungry Doberman in the car. People wont even walk on your side of the street then!

Parents going to buy me a Golf R32!
dangerous_daveo replied to OC's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I dont really give two hoots about the rest. But the R32 skyline, and the R32 golf thing I find a bit funny. R32 being the model (as in chassie run number thingy) of the skylines correct? Just like A31 cefiro. Etc etc, VS commodore. Then in those runs of cars you have GTR, say with the commodores Calais, Executive etc. So R32 golf being the type. Im not sure of its code. But wake up. Geewizz, you think VW could give a rats about a 15yo Datto, with less displacement running assisted to make the same type of power and times? Oh, and one thing with the Ps buying said R32 golf... Didnt limited numbers of only 200 come in to the country which were pretty much all sold within weeks? So this car would have to be 2nd hand? I havent checked the prices, but Im guessing they wouldnt be so exxy now. Also while I remember, these little buggers also run a 6speed getrag box, pretty sure they are running 6 pot fronts, and 4 pot rears, wider body, much higher spec interior. I mean, saying they are over priced or not 'as good as an evo/subi' whatever, that is a joke, they are a serious bit of car. -
Quick question. You say stainless isnt as good. Where does steampipe fit in? As this is what I have been told to use by many people, as its cheaper, and would appear to produce better results than the stainless, amoung other benifits. So basically Im interested to know if you have done any tests with these. Id take a guess and say there arent any 'off the self jap' items, so you would probably have to base it on a custom one. Simply asking the question. Very interesting read none the less.

Dude not cool. But they got someone, so hopefully its taken seriously and they get more than a slap on the hand for it. I guess it makes you feel a little better than finding it out the back of greenbank burnt out, and no clues to who did it. Shouldnt have any probs with insureance tho, I mean, nothing is suss about it from their point I wouldnt think.

rb25 garbox on rb20

Just a realllly quick one. Does the little gear stick, stick out from the same place??? Or is some interior hacking needed? -
Hence I said out of interest. If hes got the book I guess it would be in there somewhere. Like wise how can they say they have been put on after. My point with that is, which I feel is fair, I paid my $1200 to have my car complied (as would many others) and I think its wrong Id get the fine when Im not the one at fault, because as far as Im concerned my car has been put though the proper channels to make it legal. That and my understanding of the 15year rule it was different to a normal blue plate. And adding to that, if the mods are illegal, they shouldnt be going after me (although easier) they should be going after the dodgy compliance shops, the dodgy blue platers, and the lack of DOT picking it up once its been through both of the other so called safe gaurds. And really fix the problem properly. But we cant have that End of the day it doesnt worry me too much, Id just like to know for sure a bit more. I keep the car as legal as I can without being stupid about it. Really I know if Mr policeman wants to book me, they will, they will find something such as 'windscreen wiper blades are too hard, or too soft, or too black, or made out of the wrong rubber or, I look like his daughers ex boyfriend'

LoL, why are Harleys so FING LOUD!!! I wonder how that one would go down... Good to see them actually doing something though.
-
Out of interest what if the car was complied with items such as the CF bonnet, and say coilovers? (15 year rule, or pre RAWS?)
-
Would these be the same turbos the old gibson GTRs used to run at Bathurst and the like???
-
Yes its Nicos old one. And Nico did most of the work on it, tidyed it up etc. So I think its CRAP that old mate Stoney would appear to be taking the credit, along with 'zoom importers' as neither had anything to do with the car. I'll go as far to say I belive there were 2 owners after Nico before stoney bought the car. As much as I dont like the car, as I think why make a cefiro a 2 door. I dont think it is right that others take the credit. Or at least that is the impression I got.

'notchy' for me is will not go in to 2nd above 2500rpm until after about 30-45mins... Unless its cold, as in, just down the street (500m) just before its started to expand.
-
Just saying, I think if you raise your car up properly, and get all the balance of it corect, I think you will find it handles better, as in faster through corners. 5 years tho, thats not bad.

Top RB20 Club... do you have over 260rwkw?
dangerous_daveo replied to RBsileighty's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I bet Mr prancing horsey wasnt too keen on the old datto! Nice one Roy! -
Not happy with it. The cheap s hit stuff that was in there that was thicker was better. Or felt better. Once its warm its ok, but by geebus it takes forever to warm up.
-
Is it 100% carbon anyway? Because if not you would be getting done/warned for your mostly fiberglass bonnet with a final layer of carbon on it so it looks pretty.
-
The other cheapish one would be a 1GGTE with a big turbo, good tune, in something small. The stock bottom ends are unreal. To get a bit more go out of them use a supercharged bottom end, as they are 0.5 compression ratio higher, and can still cop massive amounts of abuse. Full motor would be about $700-1000ish now? But yeah, carby V8, cheap as, or Rotor. 10sec car isnt that hard, but a reliable street driveable one is a bit more of a trick.

Not hijacking at all dude, its good to see what others cars are doing. The first bit kinda... atm I find my car really quite settled, never too scared to keep the boot in. Plus we have changed mine so it WONT kick out, it just seems if I power down, it goes straight (no where near as much as it did before we raised it 2inches) And the outsides of my tyres are still wearing more than the outside. I find with braking tho mine is fine, I'll out brake most cars, doesnt feel heavy or anything. And I still need to get braided lines, and a brake booster stopper on. But I did get the sensation you are taking about, its more so a mental thing I think, as you reaise its getting a bit close a bit fast, so you think the car isnt slowing down.

They are going to be put on the back burner for a bit anyway. Spoke to another suspension shop and they seem to think most of my problem is set up (and they said new whiteline price list is coming out soon and they are going to be cheaper). But he seems to think TOO MUCH castor, and too much rear camber. So what he is saying is fix that up first, see if thats whats causeing oversteer still (which he was quite sure would be). Then go sway bars after that to see what effect they have. But he didnt want to try and bandaid the problem.
