Mines Cam Cover Baffle Plates
djr81 replied to djr81's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Photo attached. -
For sale are a pair of Mines cam cover baffle plates to suit an RB26. These sit under the cam covers & stop the oil getting into the induction system. They are brand new & still in the box they came in. Price:$425 which includes postage.

It doesn't need to be perfectly balanced to handle. You can use any number of tricks to fix it. Most people find if they can run more rubber at the rear then the car is balanced better & is quicker with more weight in the rear. Weight distribution being roughly proportional to tyre width ie not 50 -50. Here is a photo of my bucket o' lard to illustrate the point:

Need Help From The Project U Users
djr81 replied to Roy's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
You are never going to match the temperatures of the front & rear rotors/pads etc so there isn't much point trying. At the end of the day you need to reasonably match the friction coefficients of the front/rear pads near/at their expected maximum temps. Reason being when the fronts get hot is probably when you are trying hardest. So likeyou say you need a milder rear pad. So if the Project Mu stuff is working with a 0.5 friction coefficient (?) then grab something that works in a lower but wide temperature range for that value. The upside s being a rear pad they last much longer than the fronts. -

2005 Sti Gold Brembo Calipers On An R32 Gtr
djr81 replied to im late's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
By way on comparison: Bremo as fitted to R33's etc: 44 & 38mm dia pistons front, 40mm rear. Sumitomo as fitted to R32's 40.4mm (all the same) front, 38mm rear. So there is not much point using these WRX Brembos as they are too small in piston dia. -
Well lets see one product you can consume safely. The other is addictive, carcinogenic not to mention a heap of other unpleasant & indeed deadly things & cannot be consumed safely. Anyway looks like Team Yodaphoned are still king of the kids & good to see Coulthard sneak into the top five! Brightie is still on struggle street. God the shootouts this year will be boring.

2005 Sti Gold Brembo Calipers On An R32 Gtr
djr81 replied to im late's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Yeah poverty packs. You can get luxury packs, sports packs & just about anything else so I figure they also make poverty packs for people with incomes similar to mine. The Nissan hand brake works on the inside of the centre section of the rotor. Or in otherwords it is internal. If the diameter of the friction surface for the drum shoes is different rotor to rotor then your handbrake wont work. -
2005 Sti Gold Brembo Calipers On An R32 Gtr
djr81 replied to im late's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
About the thickness I must have misread Roys comment about the 2mms. Yeah poverty pack = non V-spec GT-R. The calliper was a Brembo from a 33. I thought they were all the same on the 33 GT-R's. Some Q's. What piston diameter does the WRX calliper run? How did you get on with the internal hand brake? The Nissan type rotors run bad arsed cooling vanes in the inside at the rear. How do the Subaru's compare? Anyone have an opinion on the best tool to use to remove the stone guards from the back of the car? Apparently a 9" grinder is a bit over the top. -
Hmm, maybe McConkey will be wigged out if Richards shows pace this year. Hope not. Nah its not but the amendments to the legislation would have banned alchohol advertising from sporting events.

2005 Sti Gold Brembo Calipers On An R32 Gtr
djr81 replied to im late's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Interesting because when I fitted up an R32 V-spev/R33 rear rotor to my povvo pack 32 Gtr I found the following. 1. Almost no room between the outside diameter of the rotor & the stone guard. 2. Needed to bash the stone guard flat where the calliper bolted on, otherwise it fouled. 3. The pads wouldn't fit with the new rotor/Brembo calliper & shims. This may be relate to the thickness of the rotor? 4. The hoses from the R33's were too short for the 32's by some 30 or 40 mm. Needed new hoses. -
It took him that long? Wow. As an aside I agree anyway. This years rule changes suck teh wang.

Natsoft shows Whincup in P1 after Friday practice. Other noteable performances are: Jason Richards in the BOC Commodore in P3 & both djr cars in the top ten. Rick Kelly will doubtless be blubbing somewhere. Oh & thank fk the alcopops senate amendments got chucked out. Otherwise no more Jim Beam sponsorship for djr & no Jack daniels for the Kelly clan. Not to mention the XXXX girlies.

Who knows there is so much dis information about ATTESSA floating about. Too many versions & not enough source info from Nissan. I was hoping to log the inputs via my DL1 & then map then outputs but after getting through about 8 pages of warnings from RT about tapping into wheel speed sensors I stopped. Anyway maybe we should let Nick have his thread back about teh dampers.... Seasy, really. 1kg/mm equals 55lb/in. 100lb/inch = 1.8kg/mm
-
Hmm, ok. I am more than a little confused. I can find three steering inputs to the HICAS system (left, straight ahead & right) but none into the ETS control unit. (Page CH66 of the manual). It has 4x wheel speed. Inputs for the three (2 foreaft & 1 lateral) accelerometers Stop lamp switch input. Reverse lamp switch input. Throttle signal input. But I cannot find a steering input in the ETS system.

Not me. Not really. I respect his talent & support him to a degree. But I cant get past his antics at McLaren. He wasn't the only person to ever stop Schumacher. Far from it. Just the only one of them still going around. Disrespectful team mates. It is F1. You don't, as a driver, get respected by a team mate. You get targetted by him as it is the closest measure of a drivers relative worth. I noticed that the Williams did the Brawn hollow in the last test so who knows any more. At the end of the day if your teams times are rubbsih (eg McLaren at the moment) then chances are the car is bad rather than the team snadbagging. You can only simulate things such as tyre degredation so far - you still need to go out & belt around to find out how real it is. If they are quick - yeah it may be only qualifying pace but you would rather start P1 that P20, surely?

This may make you physically ill (you have been warned) but here is how the Emo boys do it. Notice how early in the corner the driver is on the gas. I think that is most of the reason they brain the GT-Rs in mickey mouse kharna stuff. I found a huge diference in the car when I found some more front end grip. It meant that I could get onto the power alot earlier. It may well be the attessa/steering lock interaction you mentioned. Is it 10 degrees steering wheel movement or 10 degree road wheel movement? Oh and I still owe you some DL1 data. I will get it sorted but I have had issues with my logger. The 12V inputs & rpm have died on it. I need to post it back & get it fixed. I guess if the adjustment is on the high speed compression it will only show on the far RHS of the (usually) lower half of the graph. Everything else should stay much the same.

Good shots. My thing is approx the same but doesn't quite lift the inside front. This is possibly because I run a Cusco rear sway bar rather than the Whiteline. In spring rate it works out to be 20% harder. My springs proper are softer than yours. The worry I have is that if you do lose contact on the front inside then there is no way you will get any gain from having an AWD system. No front LSD means the inside front will just bag up. As an aside I would love to know what the damper forces (bump & rebound) are for the Bilstein shocks used on the R32 GT-Rs, ie the B46 1471 (Front) B46 1472 (Rear). There would, presumably, be a range of springs with which they work. Equally I would imagine the damping forces would be greater on a 'revalved' shock built to accomodate a harder spring. If anyone knows this stuff it would be great to pass on. It may also help people with adjustable shocks - providing ofcourse they have the velocity - damping force graphs for the various adjustments....

Skyline Gt-r Articles In Wheels Magazine
djr81 replied to djr81's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Yeah I know what you are saying. The hype & bullshit still grates after all these years. There should also be one somewhere comparing the GT-R to a VN Group A Commode & also comparing the track R32 to the track VN. Not sure if I believe the numbers but what can you do? -
Troy will be fine. Just remind him to clip the rear body work on properly. As an aside did you realise that Jimmy Stone (of SBR fame) used to work on the McLaren Can-Am cars. He was there that awful day.... Yeah POA is a euphamism for cheap. Maybe just buy a new shell. Seriously - new. http://www.dynacornclassicbodies.com/classic2.html

Little Brass Thing In Greddy Boost Gauge
djr81 replied to DAS KAMU's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
It is more than likely a restrictor. Basically a small orifice to dampen the boost signal to the gauge. So that it doesn't jump around like a nutbag on amphetemines. -
Oh stuff it, why muck about: http://www.turbo-car-trade.com/viewCars_1612.aspx

Equivelent Suspension To Sydneykid

You didn't happen to get the equivalent numbers for the front by any chance? -
Cheers I am trying to get a feel for how spring rates affect roll angles on an R32. So if anyone else has some photos....
