Dont Be Fooled Into Buying Cheap Coil Packs.
Checkbuzz replied to STATUS's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Thought I'd save some coin by buying the JJR (red) coil packs... 15 months later = FAIL (stock turbo@10psi) BTW - My tuner said that the popping/misfiring under boost caused by these POS coil packs could be as damaging to the engine as knock! Replaced with Splitfires... 15 months later = SWEET (3076@19psi) never missed a beat Not only did I not save money by going cheap... it actually cost me and extra $400! -

Resurrecting this zomby one more time... I think some people were interested in seeing this: GT3076R 52T 0.82a/r IW dyno plot + original HKS GT-RS dyno Both @19psi on the same dyno & same set up except; 4" intake, split dump and de-cat Nuff said -

I hate to be Mr obvious but the only person who is really qualified to answer this question already has: "THIS TURBO IS TOO SMALL FOR TRACK APPLICATIONS." (i.e on an RB25) You have been warned... but maybe PM Daniel (@ERD) and ask him what he thinks, he is a very helpful and knowledgeable guy. IMO the tuned length exhaust manifold will have less mass and be a less effective heat sink than the OEM cast item, it will therefore warp easier as well as costing a lot more money to replace. Get a GT30 and then wonder why you ever bothered with the GT-RS...

OK here are some pix of the turbo as requested: http://s1260.beta.photobucket.com/user/checkbuzz/media/20130108_190712_zpsc319b02b.jpg.html http://s1260.beta.photobucket.com/user/checkbuzz/media/20130108_190145_zps5698aee2.jpg.html http://s1260.beta.photobucket.com/user/checkbuzz/media/20130108_190205_zpsb7e325f9.jpg.html http://s1260.beta.photobucket.com/user/checkbuzz/media/20130108_190648_zps588953b6.jpg.html

As the title says I have an HKS GT-RS (11004-AN008) turbo for sale to suit the RB25DET. This turbo is a straight bolt-on item (although oil and water lines will need to be replaced). This is a very responsive turbo and probably the best 'street turbo' available for the RB25DET. It is in excellent condition only having done <2000km's before being upgraded (to a GT3076R for more power!) The turbo is in "as-new" condition and was pumping 246rwkw @19psi when it came off the car! Located in SE Melbourne will ship at buyers expense. Get yourself the best Xmas pressie ever! PM or txt me on 0402213701 $1350 Can supply pix... but it looks like a turbo... this one in fact: http://www.hks-power...gtrs/index.html

R33 Gtst Tune On 95Ron Opinions?
Checkbuzz replied to BL4KL15TD's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Yeah 98 is the only way to go mate and BP fuels seem to be the highest octane and most consistent quality. 550cc (NISMO/Tomei) injectors are drop-in replacements and will be more than enough for a 2871R but then if you plan on upgrading the turbo and/or going E85 in future you might want more... 740cc or even bigger! -

Buy a Camry they love 91RON and it is the cheapest fuel of them all! LOL -
Brake Pads Users Ratings Guide
Checkbuzz replied to Snowman's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I just changed over from using Racebrakes RB74/QFM A1RM pads (same pad/compound I believe) to PMU HC+ pads (PMU kit seems to have dropped markedly in price recently). The difference is night and day. The A1RM/RB74 pads were ok for light track work but as me and the car got quicker they simply couldn't keep up... I was going through a set in one track day! And once hot the pedal feel was very mushy. The PMU HC+ are not much more expensive but they out perform these other pads in every respect and I would never consider going back. The HC+ last longer, don't squeal as much, have as good cold stopping power, much improved hot stopping power and vastly improved pedal feel everywhere. IMHO the PMU HC+ pads are worth the extra money and then some. P.S. Interesting that the previous poster found the cold braking performance of the PMU Club Racer pads so good. They might also be worth a closer look for street/track work if this is the case. -
No. 2 fuel filters are not required. Forget microns most Skylines including all the big horse power ones are just using a standard Ryco filter. The only other option I have found locally is the Drift high flow filter (Autobarn) not sure if there are any advantages over the ryco but it certainly sounds better when your telling your mates at the pub

The dyno graph will be uploaded when I get it (tuner was out of printer ink) I can even provide overlays of 3076 vs GT-RS on the same car. Keep in mind that this is a 52T as opposed to the more common 56T version of the GT3076 (i.e. better response than a 56T) It replaced an HKS GT-RS and has (much to my and my tuners surprise) matched the GT-RS for boost response and beaten it for power response. It makes more power across the entire rev range and the power curve is almost perfectly linear. Engine (RB25) is stock and has never been cracked, other mods done at the same time as the 3076 were; custom 4" intake, split dump and decat. Needless to say I am very happy with the results

GT3076R (52T), 0.82 A/R IW Garret rear, GCG split dump, 274rwkw (PULP) @19psi on Garret 1 BAR actuator Full boost @3000rpm... No boost creep at all! IMO the GCG split dump is a thing of beauty and works perfectly

Rear Strute Brace Preload?
Checkbuzz replied to Torques's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I have heard many people say that the rear brace does nothing on an R33/34 and your explanation makes sense.... however have you seen the amount of extra strengthening and bracing in the rear of a GTR? All of this extra expense and weight added by the manufacturer for absolutely no gain or reason? There are a lot of after market (including NISMO) rear braces and I find it difficult to believe that they were all developed cynically just to make money. I would like to know the answer to this too
