You would notice it on the spark plugs, the cylinder would be running lean so the spark plug would indicate as such. I'd start with that, pull the plugs and check that they are all the same. Always start with the things that are the cheapest and easiest to check and then work your way from there
-
Sorry if you've mentioned it and I missed it somewhere, but who tunes your car these days Simon, still ASG??
-
Yeh well when Matt reprogrammed my board with the Stagea image, he was able to upload my current tune so I could just plug it back in and it was like nothing had changed. Except the misfire at about 5000rpm from the ECU pulling timing was gone. But if the message hasn't been passed onto my tuner and he is trying to start with the R34 address file and then sync the bin file from the ECU, it wouldn't work as you said. But then I have no idea what he meant when he said it looks like it has earthed out, so I'm not sure.
-
Thanks for that mate. Makes me wonder whether the message was passed on that my ECU has a Stagea image in it. I forgot to tell Sean when I dropped the car off, but I phoned up and let them know, the bloke was confused but he said he would write it down. Now I wonder whether or not he told Sean before he started trying to tune it, if he tried to use the R34 image with my ECU then it wouldn't have worked. I'll have to give them a call tomorrow morning and get hold of Sean himself.
-
Ah great, do you know which of the documents it's in? I've contacted Matt about it but he hasn't replied yet. Thing is, I didn't touch anything related to the ECU, and it was perfect when I drove it in. Surely it has to be something related to my messing around with it all, it's not just coincidence?
-
It shouldn't happen in neutral...
-
Actually now that I think about it, the 40mm OD measurement was taken from the flare on the outlet. So a 38mm ID hose would probably do the job perfectly.
-
Outlet is 40mm OD, 35mm ID. So you'll need a hose with a 40mm ID, reducing to a 30mm or so ID hose for the standard return pipe.
-
Yeh I will see how my tuner goes on Monday, he is going to try to source a new one for me then. If he can then I will just pay for it because I'm impatient. If not then he is closing down until the 21st of May as he is getting married this week, so I'll have time to send the ECU back to Matt. I've contacted Matt to see if he might know what could cause the corruption, as everything was perfect a month a go when I last drove the car. Installed the Plazmaman and ID1000's and now it's busted
-
Nope. I have no idea hey. I didn't touch anything except for the plenum and the fuel system. Removed the battery before we started and the only wiring we had to do was for the new injector plugs and extending the IAC valve loom. It's not physically fried, everything is just corrupt. He can't even get it started because every map is just blank. He tried uploading a base map and tuning again from scratch but it does nothing, whole ECU is completely corrupt. Don't know, I didn't ask. I just mentioned it in a list I had and he said no, the only ones he was keen for me to go for were the NIStune, VIPEC/Link or a PowerFC.
-
Tuner doesn't like Adaptronic. It would be a Link or a VIPEC if anything, but this has nothing to do with NIStune. I imagine that whatever has arced out would have destroyed any ecu, doesn't matter how expensive it was.
-
Bit far away unfortunately, but if we can't find one local I'll keep that in mind mate, cheers. Yehhh makes me a bit glad I don't have a VIPEC or a link or something like that. Imagine if one of those expensive ECU's just gave up on you
-
Well just got the phone call from my tuner... Ecu is corrupt. Absolutely no idea what happened, tuner says it looks like it has arced out somehow. But I had the battery out the entire time and didn't touch any wiring except for the injector plugs. Anyway, means my results will be delayed. Also means I need to find a replacement ecu, so it's not going to have the new Stag image which means I'm going to get all the DTC's again and no VCT. Why the f**k am I into cars again??
-
Are the fittings still the same, return on the edge of the can and the two inlets in the middle?
-
Yeh it seems to hold pressure fine. It's the first aftermarket regulator I've had, so wasn't sure if they make these noises. I guess I'll see what my tuner says about it
-
Haha, sooo pretty much exactly the same as any high performance motor?
-
No don't, I don't wanna talk about it lol. I'm now quite sure that my check engine light has been wired into one of the other dash lights. It comes on with the key switched to on, but never once with all the DTC's I've had has it come on while driving.
-
Crafty motherf**ker. 51nna, what tune lol? None of us are acting tough or threatening you.
-
Bahahaha Zebra. I knew by the thread title that this thread was gonna be awesome. 51NNA. You're embarrassing yourself. I believe I mentioned about coming on here and telling the experienced members that they don't know what they're on about lol. Might be worthwhile actually finding out about Zebra's Supra before you say it's a piece of shit and he has no experience. On topic, your setup looks good, it will get the job done. What was the point of the thread though? I think Zeb is on the money. Can haz wasteland nao?

Hanaldo's R34 Gt(T) Skyline Build
Hanaldo replied to Hanaldo's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Promised pictures: Firstly, this: Is a much better design than this: And that's one problem solved: Next up, getting the fitting welded onto the intercooler pipe. What a mission and a half that was. Took 4 hours of driving around before I found someone who would do it, then the first thing the bloke says to me when the secretary (pretty little thing she was) got him for me was "waddya want ya dumb flamin mongrel?". So he had the customer service of a cave troll, but I managed to communicate with him. Lucky for me he knew his way around a tig, and this is what I ended up with: Very happy with the end result, and that's the next problem solved. Then onto the throttle cable. I came up with an even better idea than the cable clamp, anyone recognize what this is? It's the throttle cable adjuster off the gyro cable on a BMX. Little modification here and there, and bam: That's another problem solvered. Had to film the throttle body in action seeing as I didn't have anyone to tell me if it was opening fully or not, so may as well upload that too: The quick taps was me trying to dislodge the adjuster or see if it would get caught and jam the throttle open somehow, but it's rock solid. Gotta be happy with that. Now we are up to where my previous post comes in, so I'll skip ahead to getting it to the tuner yesterday. Not really a part of the build, but it was interesting to say the least so I'll post some pictures anyway Getting a car as low as mine onto a standard car trailer without the use of power brakes or steering is a right challenge. The front bumper had to stay off, the rest we sorted out as we went along... Took a few tries to get it lined up, was a lot of work between two guys lol. This is where things started to get tricky: Very tight: This was with the trailer parked on a slope to eliminate as much angle on the ramps as we could, AND with the front of the trailer jacked up about 50cm off the ground. Still too tight. Ended up having to get my mates mum and my dad to stand on the back of the trailer to bring it down enough to get on. But finally we did: Then it took about 30 minutes longer than normal to get to my tuner, so we arrived at about 6pm. Luckily the guys were just hanging around having a few beers and didn't mind us being late, so they came and gave us a hand to get it off. Took 4 of us and two trolley jacks to get it off, but eventually we did and this is where I last saw it: I was hoping it might get done today, but that was probably a bit optimistic given the extent of modification it went through and hasn't even been started yet. For all I know we did it all wrong and there are a thousand problems with it, so will just have to see. Tuner gave me a call today to say they were a bit behind and probably not going to get my car finished today. I'm assuming this means they hadn't started on it at all yet because he didn't mention anything had been done or any problems. He did say he is going to work on it tomorrow to try to get it done for me before they lock the gates for a month, so I appreciate that. Especially as he is getting married on Sunday -
Hey all, I've just installed a Sard fuel pressure regulator, HKS fuel rail, ID1000's, and Speedflow -6 braided line and fittings; all genuine. Now I went from 650cc injectors to the 1000cc's so I can't start the car yet, but I primed the system a number of times to check for leaks etc. and noticed that there is now a very loud high pitched squeeling that comes from the engine bay somewhere while it's priming. It's an odd example, but it sort of sounds like when you turn a garden hose on at the tap? I'm guessing it is the regulator as I'm not sure what else would be making the sound. My Turbosmart fuel pressure gauge shows ~43psi, so I doubt it is too much fuel pressure. I wasn't sure whether all regulators make this sound when they are new or if there is something wrong, so it's made me a bit anxious. Any ideas? Thanks, Martin.

Measured mine last night with some verniers. The GTR bov is a 35mm diameter outlet, you'll need a hose with a 40mm ID. The standard 25 bov is a 25mm outlet. *EDIT* Millimeters not inches

What Happens When Fuel Pump Fails While Driving?
Hanaldo replied to henson's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Trying to recall the last time I was on the fast-button for 20 seconds... And it's not coming to me lol. Sounds like fun though, SAU trip to the Autobahn? -
What Happens When Fuel Pump Fails While Driving?
Hanaldo replied to henson's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Not unless it's under heavy load. Really it's just like running out of fuel.
