As a rest ult of the tuning I've been doing lately; here's a graph from data logging of the tune as it is now: This graph shows a pull from 1500rpm, this is 3rd gear on the street, full boost of 10psi by 3600rpm - this is the reason why I want an external gate, better response, I should be able to build boost to 10psi by about 3000rpm I reckon. 4th gear should be a little better, bit still could be better with the external gate i reckon. p.s. 70kpa = 10.1psi 60kpa = 8.7psi This is what is was before: Afrs are heaps better now. Pretty proud of that effort! I've been able to set the limiter back to 6500(soft) and 7000 (hard), so should have a bit more room to rev now, plus more powar! haha p.p.s that big lean spot just as i stamp on it is just measuring error, cos i'm sure if it was leaning out to 20+ AFR it wouldn't have lasted two seconds after it drove out the tuners garage. 30,000 kms later...

  10. R32s are getting on dude, I'd want one with a genuine low KM motor or a rebuild. What's your budget? Check for rust and signs of accident repair, cold start-ability, funny smells/smoke from the exhaust, smooth and consistent power delivery etc... Check the oil level and and milky residue on the underside of the oil cap, and any oil leaks. Take it for a big long drive and see if it overheats too.

  12. I had a friend with almost exactly the same car as Marc described. Made (only) 325hp, big laggy (5500rpm) turbo in an r32, epic screamer pipe too, i think that gave us an extra few mental kilowatts, felt amazing but would be a pain to drive...

  17. Yeah I've found one made by IOgear in the states that's $55 from an Australian website. Does anyone know how to set it up on the laptop? i.e. selecting which com port to use on the software and which USB port related to which com port. Trent, do you have any experience with the EMS stinger software?
  18. Hey kids, I need some help connecting my laptop to my EMS stinger ECU. The EMS uses a serial (DB9) port to connect to a laptop, and my new laptop only has USB ports. I've purchased an adapter, but I've been told that it's the problem. Does anyone know of a different method to connect to the laptop or another USB -> serial adapter that works? Thanks.

Yeah the screamer would def be illegal in WA, but I was planning to have the exhaust shop make up a screamer pipe, and a recirculation pipe, so few V band clamps and a block off plate later, I'd have a screamer/recirc... Thanks man, that helps heaps The first two aren't really a problem, there's heaps of space under my manifold, only the cooler piping and an engine mount to doge (easy). Yeah I had the same problem with the 1.0 bar actuator, it was making about 12psi with 3mm of pre-tension, when it should make more like 14-15, boost dropped off to about 10 at redline - so clearly didn't want that. The .5bar one I'm using at the moment, has heaps of pretension and makes 10, which it obviously isn't designed for, hence the poor control, I'd imagine it'd work fine at 7psi though. Both were genuine Garrett actuators. My boost source is taken from the cooler pipe closest to the throttle body, and the disco potato has no provision for a nipple located on the comp. housing, thanks bro.
  21. Yeah, hence the creep and retarded ignition. The .86 housing made a huuge difference. btw its a QR25DE+T i.e. 2.5L 4cyl in my X-Trail...
  22. lol VL drivers... we need more info than that dude, your problem could be ANYTHING! Check for leaks in your intercooler piping, and try replacing your coilpacks. It sounds like the latter, under boost, shoddy coils will cause your engine to miss-fire.
