The Automotive Sound Track Of The Year
StealthX replied to zebra's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
That looks like a hideous car to drive... Sounds good though -
Yeah but all his custom intercooler piping and shit wouldv'e made up for the difference I bet...

Nah nothing, just sick of seeing dumb broad minded persons and douchbags puffing themselves up. The club scene is rank...

Haha yeah Martin that's Andrew though. Providing there's nothing else booked in for the day, Hyperdrive's gotta be the most efficient workshop I've heard of. My car took about a week all up to install the EMS and tune it. That includes shipping the ECU back to SA for a firmware upgrade. So turbos plus ECU and tuning, couple of days providing nothing goes wrong...

New Garrett Gt2860R / 707160-5 Turbo Issues
StealthX replied to 32NSMO's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Those turbos are 2860s. The 707160 number shows that, they just must have put the wrong tag on them. Also make sure the oil drains seal real good, use a new gasket and tighten the f**k outta those bolts. They are the biggest pain in the arse, imagine replacing the turbos and everything only to find that the oil drains leak. Then you have to rip them off all again to seal them up again. That's been the story if my life for the last 2 days -
Turbo X-trail
StealthX replied to StealthX's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
f**k yeah... There was only 500 or so made, and it seems most people who bought one, don't wanna sell them... Apparently most of them are in Malaysia or new Zealand... -
Dont Think Its Been Asnered About Rb30
StealthX replied to yogibear's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarrett/catelog/Turbochargers/GT35/GTX3582R_803715_1.htm T4 .82 housing is probably what you want on an RB30. Would make up to about 700hp before it ran out of flow. Then probably another 100hp ontop of that with E85 and advanced timing. Correct me if I'm wrong, that's all just guess work! -
Whats The Best Turbo For A31?
StealthX replied to Boostingal's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Yeah they are a Chinese knock off, but they aren't too bad. Try a Hypergear turbo. Garret bearings, Australian Service. There's a 60-something page thread of Hypergear testing and refining their turbos. I don't know why your fella specifically wants a turbo that has mega lag and takes till 5k rpm to spool... Lag is a negative side product of a big turbo that makes HEAPS of power, and without the 'HEAPS' of power, it's shit to drive a car that takes untill 5k to make power. http://digi-hardware.com/turbocharger.html A Hypergear TR43 is about the same as a kkr430, but better quality Full boost probably around 3500-4000 rpm depending on boost. -
You just described every 'club' or 'bar' in Perth these days. I can't go out these days and not feel like almost every other guy is looking down on everyone else and trying to find a reason to start a fight to win over some broad minded person's approval. Then the broad minded persons are just showing off as much skin as possible, to get in touch with a man's heart's (read: penis) ability to give free drinks. Then they winge when they get cracked on. Simple females: if you don't wanna be cracked on, don't dress like a broad minded person! /rant.

Thanks man! No coilovers as yet. Can't afford them, yet. Student budget atm, hoping for a new job soon Wheels are 18" x 8.5" +34 Koya Drifteks.

Turns out they were actually pretty easy... They were tight, but not impossible WD definitely helped. I sprayed all the bolts and went for a long drive, then the next morning i sprayed them again and by lunchtime they were being undone. After about 180deg each, they were all finger worthy! The new .86 housing feels more progressive now, and builds towards the top end rather than falling off. I havn't taken it for a big drive, so havn't seen if it's fixed the boost creep. I adjusted the actuator rod pre-tension for 10psi. I'll give it some shit on the way back from work tonight, and see if it's creeping still... Scott, I have the .86 IW housing now, but the manifold is the problem, it always has been. When it was made it was made too high. My friend didn't take into account the bonnet clearance very well. It only sit about 20mm from the bonnet which, if i have any chance at getting it all legal, I'm sure will be a problem that an engineer will spot. And yeah, the ignition timing will be adjusted by my tuner, i don't have knock ears or a knock block so I don't wanna even try to adjust it on the street. The static CR is 9.5-9.9:1, I've never been able to get a straight answer from anyone re: x-trail QR25 CR. The QR in the Sentra Spec V is 9.5 then 10.5 on the new version, but I'm not 100% sure on my engine. Wiki says 9.5, redbook says 9.9 and two different Nissan techs told me 9.5 and 9.9... I'm upgrading the manifold/changing to external wastegate for better boost control, neater engine bay, no more heat problems from the dump on the thermo fans, new 3" dump and plus, I wanna have some fun with a screamer (apologies to the fun police). Current manifold: New manifold: Before anyone asks, no I don't know the diameter of the primaries on the manifold. either way, it doesn't flow that well, this new one without a doubt flows more. My dump is a 2.5" stainless bellmouth. I could only do 2.5" due to space restraints. This new manifold will make way for a 3" too, so that's another reason for the upgrade. That's the best pic I've got though.

Are you sure thats the right filter for your car? Weird coincidence, my x-trail uses the same part number for it's air filter, it'd be pretty strange if it was the same filter for an RB26 and my x-trail lol
-
Useless on standard manifold, and on most aftermarket manifolds, they sit the turbo too high/far out. Don't skimp out bro, sell your current manifold and buy an external gate manifold with the right flange to suit...
-
Yeah thought heat was likely to help... Thanks fellas!

It aint chillin on my passenger seat or anything... fire extinguisher is strapped down under the passenger seat, towball is where the spare tyre used to be Good call though, loose objects are the no. 1 killer in car accidents...

Rb25 Turbo Upgrade, All Dyno Results
StealthX replied to Nacho Vidal's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Car: Nissan X-trail Engine: QR25DE+T (2.5L four) Modifications: disco potato (GT2860rs) .64 A/R, 3" cat back exhaust + 2.5" dump, FMIC, EMS Stinger. 98 pump fuel 0.7bar 255.3whp in 2WD (front wheels) 223.7whp @ all four. Coming soon: .86 housing, Tial external gate, log manifold, 3" dump, fuel reg, .8bar Hoping for 280hp at the fronts and about 250hp@ all four. -
Boost control problem. Narrowed it down to the .64 housing being too small and is choking the motor (ignition timing is very retarded - about 1-2 degrees on full boost). 10psi was creeping up to 15psi+ towards redline so the housing doesn't flow enough gas around the turbine wheel. So I've bought the .86 housing hoping it'll flow a fair bit more and an external gate set-up (manifold, gate, custom dump and screamer) I'll give the WD-40 a try, but is it dangerous having a flammable liquid chillin on the housing, then getting it up to heat? i.e. driving around after spraying WD40.
-
Hey guys, need some feedback... I'm about to swap the turbine housing on my disco potato, I need your advice on getting the old one off. Any tips or tricks regarding undoing the seized up, rusty old bolts? They seem pretty hard to undo without damaging the threads, I'm worried I'm gonna skip a thread or something cos they are pretty stiff. Heat? anti-seize? WD-40? Also, how much difference is the .86 likely to yield over the .64? I'm running 10psi (by about 2250rpm on a 2.5L) atm and it makes about 200awkw, I'm not expecting the peak figure to change much, just want to know if the midrange is going to change that much... Thanks guys!

I have a friend with a shorty GQ patrol - TD42 diesel, had ran the clock over, and was onto 10,000kms again. i.e. 1,010,000 kms Not original engine, the first one died, but the new engine that's been there for 10+ years, did all those kms.

P.s. Keep in mind were comparing a 2010 style to a 2002 style if we're on the topic of my car...
-
Tissue box on wheels? Geee, thanks. lol P.s. I chose my x-trail because IMO it was the clear winner in the medium SUV market, and with coilovers and some decent ride height, it'll look more stagea/forester/legnum like. That's what I'm goin for anyway.
