  2. For what? It's a weak bit of evidence. I'm not trying to shut you down here but you have to think like an arsehole lawyer. I'd still fight the good fight for the sake of saying at least I tried but honestly, it's not looking good when whatever you have in writing is not really strong enough to build a solid case. All you can hope for in the battle is that he slips up at some point and you can nail him on it. Good luck but next time, for any transaction, get it all down in writing beforehand. Get a proforma invoice which shows the deposit amount and thereafter, even if you don't get the actual tax invoice, at least you have the proforma to piece a more solid case with.

  5. Does the invoice with the total amount show how much your deposit was and the remaining balance arising from that deposit?
  6. I knew it would be. I was just hoping for a photo with the markings to try narrow it down to what Nissan claim it should protect. I might then be able to cross-reference it in the G37 FSM, with a bit of luck.
  7. When you have nothing in writing, not even a receipt from them detailing the $760 transaction, you don't have much of a leg to stand on for getting that money back. Anything as major as this should always be done in writing. When I asked for a one year registration for the BA at Australian Fleet Sales, I was given a handshake gesture. I told them no paperwork will be signed and no money will be exchanged until I get the one year registration deal in writing because talk is cheap. There's no shame in being a ballbreaker when it comes to business, so long as it's within reason.
  8. Which fuse was it? Might be worth starting at that point so we can determine what that fuse is protecting.

  11. I only just noticed this post now. I've never needed the hoist for it. I jack mine up from the usual lifting point where you would use the scissor jack for changing tyres. I have the urethane blocks to use with my trolley jacks to make this easier. Once I've jacked it up enough from both sides to get stands under there and unbolt the splash guard, I then pierce a hole in the oil filter to allow it to drain into the pan first. While that's happening, I lower the driver's side to keep the vehicle angled down towards the sump plug and then proceed with removing the sump plug and let it drain out. Suffice it to say, the oil is still a dark honey colour after the first hundred kms, so I must be draining it of the old oil pretty well. A hoist would be nice to make things easier than crouching around in the driveway like I'm in a Jackie Chan film but it's good enough.
  12. Thankfully my agent, Prestige Motorsports, had a very professional contact in Brisbane to handle my '09 since they hadn't been complied by many so early in 2012. Yes, they did the fluid changes, filters and brake pads as well but that was all part of the $2000 compliance cost. The only thing that was buggered up was the engine serial number on the paperwork but that was quickly rectified. The car was otherwise very well looked after and the headlight modification was made to be completely reversible. Luck of the draw, I suppose but it's always good to have some kind of list where everyone contributes their experience with which import agent, compliance workshop or dealer. Forewarned is forearmed, after all. The more things like this are discussed, the better for all concerned.

It's amazing though that a business can be so dodgy that they can flirt with the regulations, not to mention fold the company to avoid paying out customers they've screwed over. There's got to be something that can be said for such practitioners which can be broadcast for all the public to know where not to go shopping for their next vehicle ... ever. I settled for buying the shitbox BA wagon from Australian Fleet Sales back in 2010 because it was a shitbox and dialling the clock back 100,000km on it wouldn't make any difference to such a battleaxe - not to mention a shitload of haggling.

  15. Yep, that's what my fob uses too, even though mine's a 2009 model. If you have a multimeter handy, just check to see if it's sitting on around 3.3V or thereabouts. It's weird it's happening to both though. I'd understand one dud battery but not two.

  17. The gloveboxes are small enough without these manuals in them. Not sure who you want to look official to though. I've never admired anyone's stock vehicle partly due to their manuals. Downloading should've been your first resort as you'll get all the information you need from them anyway. Honestly, aside from maybe finding things quicker, there's not much benefit to having the book. Grab the PDFs, print what you need when you need it and if your filthy hands mess up the pages, you can always print another. I know I'm rubbing salt in the wound here but unless someone else here has bothered to shell out any money for manuals, you'll find that the free approach has worked very well for most, if not all, of us.

  19. And don't forget the temporary manual mode as well - keep the stick in D but use the paddle shifters to temporarily shift down or up as required. After about seven seconds from the last paddle actuation, it reverts itself back to regular auto again. Very handy for preparing to overtake or when it gets a mind of its own and decides to engine brake going down a steep hill.
  20. I've only ever used the USDM G37 service manual and then there's the manual on this forum for operations. Take a look at the middle of the stickies of this forum list. Best of all, they're free.
  21. That's one I should try. I should've had my Japanese friend try the system out for me when she was in town and teach me a few more commands. Then again, the original manual might have a command list in there. I might do some homework. I like a little challenge.

  25. Ah, you're missing out on the most fun thing: learning to give voice commands in Japanese. Stinking hot day and saying "Air con ju-hachi do" gets a few laughs from the passengers.
