That would make more sense, though I still average only 6km/L. -
Ecutek Flash Tune Dyno Results

Hah! If you're already getting that kind of economy, definitely don't bother tuning it. I average 15L/100km because I drive like an arsehole. -
So after having promised to do this long ago and report back, I finally pulled my finger out of my bum about a month ago and decided to get the V36 tuned to see if there was anything to be gained from it. In short, no. I wasn't expecting much of a boost in power. That would be unrealistic of anyone to think so. Another 12kW was produced as a result of this tune, not that my arse-dyno can feel the difference, but at least scientifically, I can now say I have just over 200kW at the wheels. More to the point though, as you'll see in the attached graphs, it's pretty clear that these vehicles are pretty damn well tuned out of the factory. There's no improvement in response. Fuel economy, I've yet to determine as I've only been driving it out on weekends when I haven't needed to load the drums in the wagon instead. I'll give it about three full tanks to see how it averages out but I doubt I'll witness any major improvement to be honest. Until then, I'll save my final verdict. My preliminary verdict, in the meantime, is that there's no point in wasting your cash doing a dyno tune in its naturally aspirated configuration. Best to save it for the day you decide to whack a Stillen supercharger kit instead.

If you want a bit more flow (and therefore, performance, no matter ow little a gain you get out of it), then I don't really have any recommendations I can make. But if you just want a nice note, like I did, then I can wholeheartedly recommend the Megan Racing muffler that I got. Bolt-on and have fun. They only had the burnt titanium look tips on it though, which I wasn't a fan of, so I chopped them off and replaced them with some nice stainless steel oval tips. I believe they now offer it with conventional polished tips so you won't have to go to that extent like I did.

A six litre bottle of Penrite full synthetic is mighty good to me.

I must admit, I was a bit sceptical about these things but they actually do look a little classy.
-
I'll let you know when I get mine done in a month. I'm reverting mine back from UpRev Osiris to the original ROM because my tuner uses ECUtek.
-
What he said. I use the same on mine. Identical to the OEM filter I had on at the time of the first oil change.

I'll dismiss it as a case of shit happens for now. -
V36 Rev Probs, Firmware Update Anyone?
The Max replied to awsam's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
I've had my 2009 since the beginning of 2012 and have not experienced any of those issues. I'd say you're safe. -
At the risk of asking a stupid question, should sway bars be replaced using a platform style hoist so that the vehicle is still resting on its wheels or can it be done with the wheels removed and suspended from the chassis? I'm guessing the former would make more sense for ease of installation given what its purpose is.

Standard issue from Nissan for most of their vehicles in their range. Generally, pretty average performance but still better than the shitty Kumho KU31 tyres my compliance workshop recommended. I'm definitely going either Michelin Pilot Sport or Pirelli P-Zero for the next set. I doubt I'll be able to find the right size for the front so I'll stick to the all 245 set up I have now.

Japanese To English Conversion For V36 (Oem Swap)
The Max replied to Zveruga's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
I've done a fair bit of sharing of my own here. That sentiment isn't completely dead. Fear not. To be fair, you can't blame those who actually do it for a living. I'm sure for those who are not doing it as a living, they would be happy to divulge the details. -
Jacking Points On V36 370Gt
The Max replied to Skyline 370GT P's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
I raise mine using the scissor jack from the front sill jacking points and then from the crossmember with the trolley jack. -

If you have the badging on the speaker grilles, then that's all the confirmation you need that you have a Bose system. -

Damn. I leave the country for a month, unable to access these forums from the hotel, possibly due to a banned IP, and I miss out on all this fun????????? It's good to be back home. Thanks for the laughs. -

Ah, I see. That said though, my PCB had no trace leading to pin 1 which is meant to be the remote power output for the external amp. Still, you have me curious all the same. If that means I can convert my HU to line level output, it might actually clean up the noise floor. -

Never looked into the V35 but my V36 head unit didn't appear to have any kind of configurability, be it by jumper or solder pads for links. -

Actually, there are differences between the head units - namely line outputs in place of speaker level outputs, subwoofer output and the +12V remote output for the amp located in the boot. There may be other differences internally but nothing which affected my modifications to the stereo system. -
Bugger me. I feel lucky, just like my DVD player being region-agnostic and my screen on while in motion, despite no modified wiring.

Anyone Have Or (Had) A Black Car... Good Or Bad?
The Max replied to Black Dog's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
The look is understandable but it should never be at the expense of the practicality. That's why my V is at stock height. No concern for scrapes. -

Just make sure that you check the stereo is definitely a Bose system at the time of the pre-sale inspection. It is still possible that you can get an SP with sat nav, reverse and side-mirror cameras but the stereo is a Clarion instead of Bose, as was the case with mine. -

Horses for courses, I guess. I never cared for cruise control and barely touched it in my cars that do/did have it.
