  1. Nope. Replace and drive.
  2. Pfft? Me get offended about my neighbourhood? I've got other things actually worth giving a stuff about. I'll leave it up to the sensitive little princesses to get offended about people ripping on where they live.
  3. HAH! If only! Late 30s here. Looking at your location, I'd say that's why you're paying $1200 less than me per year. Don't forget insurance companies also judge you by where you live too, even if you think it is a good neighbourhood.
  4. Yep, makes perfectly good sense to me too.
  5. Right. So $1080 a year with Just Car, for whatever the insured value you're referring to. To compare with my policy with Shannons, two vehicles - the BA wagon insured at $6,500 and the V36 insured at $40,000 - a premium of $3060 for $46,500 total, so about three times your premium. However, I get to choose my repairer and I also get first dibs on the car for a buyback if it happens to be a write-off. Just Car, being AAMI, has no such policies. There's a reason why it's so cheap. If I insured my Maxima with Just Car back in 2006, instead of being insured for $9000 including the modifications such as the MoTeC ECU and turbo bits, there's no way I would've seen any of the high value items back for me to either reuse or resell. In effect, for the $900 a year that I paid in premiums back then, I saw those premiums back after selling off the MoTeC ECU itself. If I only had the BA to insure, then of course I'd go for the cheapest option just because the car means nothing to me. I'm sentimental about my V36 though. It all depends on what you want out of your policy. Cheaper is always nicer but you have to consider what options you value that you may be missing out on.
  6. For the resale appeal, I can understand that. Otherwise, I'm happy to spend that $20 on something else, like my whopping fat insurance premium for two cars coming up in a couple weeks.
  7. At $285, I'd want to know what he did. I suspect it was just a fluid flush and change. That's generally all an auto transmission service is.
  8. Nice work there. Pity the compliance workshop made a dog's breakfast of it all. Might be worth mentioning who did the compliance work so that people know to avoid their services. Thankfully, my compliance guy up in Brisbane (I'm in Sydney, mind you) did an excellent job and followed my strict instruction of making sure the modification was reversible. He left plenty of slack on the ballast 12V connectors for resoldering and glue heatshrink. The bulb connectors were sitting loose inside the housing so I had to make sure the AFS switch was set to off in order to avoid the mechanism getting jammed and upsetting the motors. The hole drilled into the housing to allow the 12V wiring to go to the halogen bulb was the bare minimum, which made it easier to plug the hole up with silicone thereafter. At any rate, you've got it all under control there. Nice write up! I'm sure someone here is in a similar position who can take advantage of this.
  9. Exactly why I asked. I can't remember what my V36 came with off the boat but I'm fairly certain they were Osram bulbs. Anyway, when the time comes, I'll seek out the Philips ones.
  10. There is so much info on our cars available for free, be it on this site or others, such as MyG37.com and the like. You just need to be prepared to do a little searching for it. Otherwise, the lazy pay up. Simple!
  11. What high beam halogens? I thought the headlight mechanism just repositions the HID bulbs up a little higher? Hence my question. I'm seeking the best performing bulb for the job.
  12. LEDs for headlamps? I was thinking of which xenon HID lamps are the pick of the bunch in your opinion.
  13. Hah. Today's young 'uns are such retards, aren't they?
  14. I'd rather live with the aggressive nature of the transmission than make any sacrifices to the performance. Since first driving it, I was left with the impression that these cars just want to gallop instead of trot. I wouldn't be regretting choosing the 370 over the 350. Smoothness is for the bedroom, not the road.
  15. Please don't remind me. I had an idiot apprentice who kept calling my V36 a Maxima. Dope couldn't remember the damn difference between Max Snr and Max Jr! Then again, he couldn't remember anything after 30 seconds because his eyes were always glued to that bloody phone of his instead of doing his friggin' job.
  16. I guess we don't know how it is. Actually, while it's fresh in my mind, not that I need to buy any now but I'm a little disappointed with the high beam performance of these headlights. Even my BA lights up a street better with its high beams. I suppose that's more of a limitation of the headlight mechanism but as far as squeezing the most performance out of the lamps themselves, which ones do you recommend Chris?
  17. Sounds like it's the lamps. Have you tried another lamp? Turning it off and back on makes the ballast kickstart the lamp with an initial high voltage discharge. It's more likely your lamps would both go out so close together rather than your ballasts.
  18. Mxfly - you're a detailer? I'm looking for one to give my V the gold class treatment on the exterior, mostly to be rid of rain spots which my six hour hand process can't manage. I don't trust myself with a buffing machine.
  19. If you want serious gains, fuel alone won't do it. Think about hardware mods first and foremost.
  20. Nah. Handles great as it is with the right rubber. I wouldn't mess with the ride height unless you're prepared to deal with speed humps.
  21. This isn't Twitter or Facebook dude.
  22. You're right, I will ask for help, once I'm convinced I've searched through the entire forum in the least if not other forums too. It was in an R32 audio install thread that I found the solution to passing speaker cable through to the doors of my V36. Saved me from asking a repetitive question like you did. I practice what I preach. But no, poor you was stuck in the abyss of another 43 pages before you found what you wanted. Always the victim but never honest with himself about his laziness.
  23. There is no ignorance to the facts. Nobody is so busy that they can't read through a forum thread that's only 57 pages long. That is all.
